Fun facts about the new Eagles pass rusher, Ogbo Okoronkwo

There is more to Ogbo Okoronkwo than most people realize.

Summertime continues, but for the Philadelphia Eagles, it's time to go to work again. Rookies reported to training camp early. Veterans followed. Andrew Mukuba finally signed his rookie deal.
A day before the first practice, the roster shuffle began. Two players were added, and two others exited the stage. Defensive end K.J. Henry and running back Lew Nichols were waived. To fill the vacated roster spaces, Philadelphia signed defensive tackle Jacob Sykes and defensive end Ogbonnia Okoronkwo.
Sykes played at Harvard and UCLA and is a former undrafted free agent claimed by the Seattle Seahawks in 2023. He played the 2024 UFL season with the San Antonio Brahmas.
Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, we know a little better. He is a former fifth-rounder who won a Super Bowl ring as part of the Los Angeles Rams roster. Since then, he has also spent time with the Houston Texans and the Cleveland Browns.
He now hopes to make the Eagles roster as part of a pass rush already featuring Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, Azeez Ojulari, and Josh Uche. He's also an interesting person when he isn't wearing the shoulder pads. Here are a few fun facts about the new guy.
Okoronkwo could have been a great NFL writer.
Ogbonnia Okoronkwo is of Nigerian descent, and he is often referred to as 'Ogbo' for short. He was born in Gainesville, Florida. He was raised in Houston, Texas, and believe it or not, he originally wanted to be a writer before discovering football.
He still has a few sacks left in him, so a career in journalism can wait for a while, but once he hangs up the cleats, it's nice to know he has a job he can fall back on.
Philadelphia may potentially land another community leader.
The Philadelphia Eagles certainly aren't strangers to philanthropy. Harold Carmichael was once the 1980 NFL Man of the Year. Through the years, we've seen guys like Malcolm Jenkins, Chris Long, and Brian Dawkins heavily involved in the community.
Okoronkwo will fit right in. Fans and locals in the Cleveland area often praised him for having an approachable personality. There are even stories of him inviting a family to the field at a Browns game.
How about a hand for an imposing resume?
Although the off-field aspects are interesting, Okoronkwo's spot on the roster will only be guaranteed by one thing. The biggest question that needs to be answered is whether or not he can play football.
Forty-four tackles and five sacks for the Texans in 2022 are the career highs of a six-year career. His addition to the Eagles' roster won't guarantee him anything, but now, at least, he has a chance to do something significant and join the defending Super Bowl champions. Will he make the most of his opportunity? Only time will tell.

Report – Napoli Pull Out Of The Race To Sign Inter Milan Linked Atalanta Star

Napoli have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Inter Milan-linked Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman this summer. This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the Partenopei are focusing on Dan Ndoye as their main target in attack. Inter Milan are pushing to sign Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman. The Nigerian international is their top target in attack this summer. The Nerazzurri have already made an offer to Atalanta for Lookman. La Dea have rejected the initial bid, which Inter have not yet increased. However, the player himself reportedly wants to join. (Photo by) Apart from Atalanta's demands, potential competition from other clubs could also make it difficult for Inter to sign Lookman. One club that had reportedly considered the 27-year-old as a target is Napoli. The Partenopei could certainly offer Lookman the chance to stay in Serie A if that is his preference. However, according to Sky, Napoli have very much cooled their interest in signing Lookman. Rather, the reigning Italian champions' top target in attack is Bologna winger Dan Ndoye. Meanwhile, the likes of Raheem Sterling, Jack Grealish, Takefusa Kubo, and Armand Lauriente are also on Napoli's list of attacking targets.

Bucs' Lavonte David on 2025 season: 'I know what we are capable of'

Lavonte David is back for his 14th season in the NFL and with the Bucs, and he doesn't want to waste his time. The team had it's moments in 2024 but they ultimately fell short with a playoff loss, at home, to the Washington Commanders. After the loss, fans had wondered if they would ever see their captain again in Lavonte David. The former Cornhusker turned Buccaneer has played his entire career in Tampa Bay and has won a Super Bowl during his tenure. He knows what a Super Bowl-winning team looks like, and on Wednesday, he made comments that should have fans excited. The future Hall of Fame linebacker gave the bold proclamation, saying, "I know we can get it done. I feel like we fell short last year, I feel like we would have had a great run at it last year, honestly. We just fell short, and definitely unfortunate, but probably one of the main reasons why I came back, and I know what are capable of and I know what we can do. We have the talent to do it, and we have the mindset to do it. So, we just got to put it all together. . ." David returns as the Bucs try to figure out what the future of the position looks like for the team. They passed over on Jihaad Campbell in April's NFL Draft. Instead, they opted to run things back with SirVocea Dennis who is coming off a shoulder injury of his own. If Dennis can be healthy and play tag team partner alongside David, the middle of the Bucs defense will be in much better shape to defend in 2025.

Bill Belichick ACC media days updates: Highlights from UNC coach's news conference

After an offseason dominated by intrigue and previously unimaginable headlines, Bill Belichick is only about a month away from coaching his first football game at North Carolina. Before he does that, though, the legendary NFL coach will get to take part in one of his favorite exercises — speaking in front of a group of hundreds of reporters. Heading into his first season ever as a college football coach, Belichick will make his scheduled appearance at ACC media days in Charlotte on July 24, where he'll discuss his Tar Heels team ahead of its highly anticipated September 1 season-opener against TCU. REQUIRED READING: UNC football tickets sold out for Bill Belichick's first season with Tar Heels Since North Carolina stunned much of the college football world by hiring Belichick last December, the six-time Super Bowl champion has been breathlessly discussed, though usually outside of the confines of football and his new job. Belichick's relationship with Jordon Hudson, his 24-year-old girlfriend, became a source of widespread public fascination that went beyond amusing social media posts of the couple wearing costumes or doing beach yoga. Hudson famously interjected during a CBS Sunday Morning interview in April when Belichick was asked how the two met, a moment that was captured on camera and set off a wave of reporting on Hudson, her role as Belichick's manager and what impact, if any, it has had on the North Carolina program. In Chapel Hill, he'll look to inject life into a program that has often been described as a sleeping giant, but has routinely struggled to wake up. Though they've been a perennial bowl participant for the past 40 years, the Tar Heels haven't won the ACC since 1980 and have won at least 10 games only once since 1998. USA TODAY Sports will be providing live updates and highlights from Belichick's interviews at ACC media days. It's unclear whether Belichick's girlfriend, who he described in his memoir as his 'creative muse,' will be joining him in Charlotte for ACC media days. At the very least, Belichick will be in Charlotte with four of his players — defensive backs Thaddeus Dixon and Will Hardy, quarterback Gio Lopez and wide receiver Jordan Shipp — all of whom will also be speaking with the assembled media. ACC media days schedule today With Belichick serving as the headliner — which is no small feat considering he's speaking the same day as a two-time national championship head coach in Clemson's Dabo Swinney — here's a rundown of what teams will be sending out their coaches and players to meet with the media Thursday: All times Eastern
