CM to take part in ‘Praja Vedika' on July 19
In preparation for the CM's visit, District Collector Dr S Venkateswar convened a review meeting with key officials at his chambers in the Tirupati Collectorate on Wednesday. Speaking at the meeting, the Collector said that the State government has taken up the P4 programme (Public, Private, People Partnership) as a prestigious initiative aimed at the eradication of poverty.
Under the P4 initiative, the administration has identified 'Golden Families', those who fall within the bottom 20 per cent of the socio-economic strata. The top 10 per cent of well-established individuals and families have been tasked with mentoring and supporting these Golden Families by addressing their educational, skill development, and other essential needs.
'These mentors are expected to build long-term relationships with the Golden Families and provide them with necessary guidance, assurance, and support,' Dr Venkateswar stated. He stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination and community participation to ensure the success of the P4 programme, especially in view of the Chief Minister's upcoming interaction with the beneficiaries.
The meeting was attended by Joint Collector Shubham Bansal, Municipal Commissioner N Mourya, Trainee Collector Sandeep Raghu Vanshi, and Corporation Deputy Commissioner Amarayya. Representatives from several key organisations including Taj Hotel, RASS, Amara Raja Group, Rotary Club, and Pai Viceroy Hotel also participated in the discussions.

AP launches ‘Green Passport' in 46,000 schools to nurture young eco-warriors
VIJAYAWADA: In a major step toward environmental stewardship, the state government has launched the 'Green Passport' initiative, aimed at nurturing young eco-warriors across more than 46,000 schools in the State. The programme, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's national campaign Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, encourages students to plant or adopt a tree in honour of their mothers — blending emotional resonance with environmental action. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu officially launched the initiative on July 10 during the Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (Mega PTM 2.0). Since then, the programme has gained rapid momentum, transforming school campuses into hubs of greenery and environmental learning. From Grade 4 onwards, students are actively participating by planting saplings, adopting existing trees, and tracking their growth using a personalised digital booklet titled My Journey with Plant Growth. Each tree is assigned a unique QR code containing botanical information and care guidelines. Students are required to log progress updates, which are verified by teachers to ensure ongoing engagement. The entire ecosystem is managed through the LEAP app, which enables geo-tagging and real-time monitoring of each tree. According to the Department of School Education, over 1.93 million students have already enrolled in the programme. B Srinivasa Rao, SPD of Samagra Siksha – AP and architect of the initiative, told TNIE, 'This programme is fundamentally changing our relationship with nature in schools. Our children are now guardians of these trees. The impact will be visible within a year as campuses across the state turn greener and more vibrant.'

Education sector in crisis under coalition govt: YSRCP
Education sector in crisis under coalition govt: YSRCPGuntur: Former minister and YSRCP leader Sake Sailajanath said the education sector has plunged into a severe crisis under the coalition government led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh. Addressing the media at Tadepalli on Friday, he criticised minister Lokesh for neglecting students' future, mismanaging funds, and prioritising corporate interests over public welfare. This government has no sense of responsibility towards children's education. He said Chandrababu has turned the education sector into a business, with the sole aim of funnelling profits to corporate institutions. He highlighted the government's failure to clear pending fee reimbursement dues, which have left students in distress. He revealed that approximately Rs 4,200 crore in fee reimbursement arrears for six quarters and Rs 2,200 crore in hostel fee (Vasathi Deevena) dues for two years remain unpaid, totalling Rs 6,400 crore.
