Viewers left outraged after Logies In Memoriam segment forgets to include legendary Aussie TV host
During the ceremony on Sunday, presenters Tara Brown and Deborah Hutton paid tribute to some of the stars who have died over the past year, including George Negus, Maggie Tabberer and Julian McMahon.
The touching segment saw Australian Idol star Marcia Hines perform a heartfelt rendition of Amazing Grace, as a montage appeared on the screen.
Despite the segment including well-known stars and lesser-known crew members, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that two key people were curiously absent.
Trailblazing 1976 Silver Logie Best Actor Winner Paul Karo, who died in April, and former ABC journalist Iain Finlay, who passed away in May, were not included.
Viewers took to social media to question why these icons were left out of the tribute.
'I was expecting more tributes last night!' one person remarked.
'It would have been nice if the Logie awards mentioned my father foreign correspondent/presenter Iain Finlay In Memoriam,' wrote Finlay's son Sean.
'After his extensive career in Australian television first as a presenter on ABC This Day Tonight then as co host of Beyond 2000. #Logies2025.'
'A legend in his field and should've been celebrated more than most on the night,' another person wrote.
'So sorry he was left out, one of the best, a solid journalist,' a fourth commented.
The Logie Awards got off to a glamorous start - but not everyone watching the telecast was impressed, with many viewers lashing out at the 'boring' awards show.
Several people took to X to slam the annual ceremony and claim the Logies simply aren't relevant anymore.
'No better confirmation that free to air TV is dying than the #Logies - a mixture of yesterday's celebrities and nobodies talking about themselves,' one person wrote.
'It's quaint how they still have the Logies - a dying medium celebrating mediocrity,' another said.
It comes after Daily Mail revealed the Logie Awards might not be back next year - or ever.
A high-level TV insider revealed 'they're quietly rolling up the red carpet'.
'It's just not viable anymore. No one wants to pay for it, no one's watching, and the people behind it are already looking for an exit,' said the source.
That 'exit' is apparently the upcoming fire sale of magazines at Are Media - which owns TV Week and the Logies brand.
The private equity firm backing Are Media, Mercury Capital, wants out after five years of underwhelming returns.
The Logies red carpet used to host the likes of Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, One Direction, Ricky Martin and even Destiny's Child.
'You remember when the Logies had international stars, outrageous moments, drama?' said the insider.
'Now it's a glorified promo reel for local TV. It's like the Bogan Oscars. The big acts are gone - and so is the audience. It's Karl Stefanovic, Sonia Kruger, Hamish Blake - rinse and repeat. Boring! The audience is tired.'
The ratings have also plummeted as Seven - which reclaimed the Logies broadcast in 2023 after 28 years with Nine - has seen a 20 per cent drop in digital audience.
'Seven thought they were buying back a national treasure. What they got was a very expensive nostalgia trip,' the insider added.

Rod Stewart's AI tribute to Ozzy Osbourne shows musician taking selfies in heaven
Rod Stewart is facing backlash for a concert tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, who died in July aged 76. The tribute features an AI-generated video showing Osbourne taking selfies with other deceased music legends, including Prince, Amy Winehouse, Tupac Shakur and Tina Turner, in heaven. Played during Stewart's performance of 'Forever Young' at a concert in Georgia, the visual has been widely criticised as 'tasteless' and 'disrespectful' by many online. Shakur's stepbrother, Mopreme Shakur, has defended the tribute, viewing it as a touching way to honour the late musicians. The video has been viewed more than three million times on X/Twitter alone.

Olivia Attwood responds to fan begging her to make surprise return to I'm A Celebrity two years after pulling out
OLIVIA Attwood has responded after a fan begged her to make a return to I'm a Celebrity - two years after being forced to pull out. The This Morning presenter, 34, was devastated when concerns over her health in 2022 meant she had to leave the I'm a Celebrity jungle after just 48 hours. 3 3 Since then, Olivia has always insisted that she will finish what she started Down Under. But it seems she's had a change of heart. During an Instagram Q&A, one fan begged Olivia: 'Plz do the jungle.' She replied: 'Oh hunny noooooo.' Olivia recently opened up about her jungle exit during an appearance on the Staying Relevant podcast with Pete Wicks and Sam Thompson. Speaking about her early departure, she said: "That is the worst thing that's happened to me in this industry. "I really wanted the jungle. "It was a big c**k up on so many levels. [It was a] medical thing essentially." Olivia added: "I tried to fight them on it because I felt like I was fine." The Love Island legend told Pete how ITV had "left the door open" for a jungle return one day. It's no surprise Olivia hasn't got time for I'm a Celebrity right now, after being revealed as the newest This Morning presenter. The Loose Women panellist made her debut last month, co-hosting the show alongside Dermot O'Leary.

Eamonn Holmes brands late pal James Whale's wife Nadine 'a gift from God' while lauding her devotion - following star's death aged 76
Eamonn Holmes paid tribute to his late friend James Whale 's widow Nadine following the shock jock's death aged 76. The star passed away after a battle with kidney cancer, in news announced by Nadine, who told the Express on Monday: 'James slipped away very gently this morning. It was a beautiful passing and he left with a smile on his face.' Taking to Instagram, Eamonn shared an image of James and Nadine, who he described as a 'gift from God' before thanking the widow for her devotion. In the caption, he penned: 'He was my friend since 1986 ….. she was a Gift from God to him . This is James Whale's wife Nadine . His pain is now gone . For poor Nadine it is just beginning . Nadine , no one could have done more for him . Thank you'. James has been married to Nadine for four years, having tied the knot in 2021, following the death of his first wife Melinda Maxted in 2018. Melinda, who James wed in 1970, passed away after battling stage four lung cancer. Taking to Instagram, Eamonn shared an image of James and Nadine, who he described as a 'gift from God' before thanking the widow for her devotion Mere hours before James' death was announced, the broadcaster's final column was published in which he revealed he was 'happy to go now and feels at peace' after moving into a hospice. Writing for the Daily Express, James revealed he was in a 'positive' headspace as he praised the doctors and nurses at The Heart of Kent Hospice. He explained: 'What's surprised me most is how much better in myself I feel since finally moving into a hospice near my home in Kent a week or so back. 'I began to feel better immediately. More positive. I feel at peace here, even though I'm not a religious person. 'I know I've reached the end of my life but I'm quite sanguine about it. Despite everything, I'm happy to go now and a lot of that is due to the people who work here, because they make dying as peaceful and pain-free as possible.' While urging people to 'take death seriously', James said it's important to discuss your wishes with our loved ones before it's too late or becoming seriously ill. In one final selfless act, James urged his fans to support the hospice as he shared the sheer cost of running the facility. He revealed it cost a staggering £7.4million last year, in which 80 percent of the money was obtained through fundraising alone. James said they need £12billion more to build a new hospice. Praising the staff, James shared an insight into the day-to-day care for patients, revealing they even pass around cocktails and mocktails, as well as running themed events and allowing family pets in for visits. The beloved radio presenter was first diagnosed with cancer in 2000, and doctors predicted he had three months to live before he underwent surgery to remove one of his kidneys. The operation proved to be successful, and six years later he launched the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer, to fund research and raise awareness of the disease. Tragically, his cancer returned in 2020 and it was revealed it had also spread to his spine, brain and lungs. He is survived by wife Nadine and his two sons James and Peter. In May, James revealed he was no longer receiving treatment. Speaking on his Talk TV show with Ash Gould, he said: 'I'm at the end of my cancer journey. There is no treatment I can have anymore. 'I can't tell you how grateful I am to Talk to actually let me on the air and sit next to Ash, which is a real pain in the butt, but I've been doing it for 25 years!' James said his recent ill health had taken its toll on him due to a severe bout of flu which led to an intensive care stay over Christmas. Despite his health, James managed to joke: 'It might actually be helping me, you never know, so I don't let that cloud my judgment – but on the medication I am on, I'm all over the place. 'I'm hoping to go on for another few weeks, few months but as soon as I can't do the show anymore, I won't.'
