The Indianapolis Colts may have a golden opportunity developing just across the AFC landscape. Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson has officially skipped Cincinnati's mandatory minicamp, escalating tensions in a strained contract dispute, and potentially nudging the Pro Bowler onto the trade block.

Hendrickson, a consistent pass-rushing force and one of the league's more productive defensive ends, is seeking a new deal. Despite having the financial flexibility, Cincinnati has yet to meet his demands or reengage in talks. As the standoff stretches on, frustration appears to mount on both sides. The Bengals expected Hendrickson to play out the final year of his contract, but his absence this week signals a willingness to dig in until action is taken, whether that's an extension or a change of scenery.
If the Bengals ultimately explore trade options, Indianapolis checks all the boxes for a potential landing spot.
First, the Colts are in the market for a true impact edge defender. Last season, their pass rush lacked consistency and struggled in critical moments. Hendrickson's skill set, fast hands, high motor, and a knack for collapsing the pocket would give Indy's front four an immediate boost.

Second, the financials work. The Colts have the cap space to take on Hendrickson's contract, and their flexibility over the next two seasons gives them room to negotiate a longer-term deal if needed. With Anthony Richardson on a rookie deal and other young stars still on affordable contracts, now is the time to be aggressive.
Perhaps most importantly, there's a connection already in place. New Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo spent years coaching Hendrickson in Cincinnati. If there's a team that can maximize his production from Day 1, it's one running a system he already knows inside and out.
If Hendrickson's holdout leads to a split with Cincinnati, expect Chris Ballard and the Colts to be near the front of the line. For a team looking to reestablish its defensive identity and complement its young offense, this may be a rare opportunity to add a top-tier pass rusher without overpaying in free agency.
Colts fans should keep a close eye on this situation, it has all the makings of a blockbuster move that could reshape the defensive front in Indianapolis.

Miami Dolphins need a CB and Jaire Alexander cut and suddenly available

MIAMI GARDENS — The Green Bay Packers cut Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander and he would seem perfect for the Miami Dolphins, about to trade Jalen Ramsey. Right? Well, maybe. Ramsey is not expected to report to Dolphins mandatory mini-camp June 10-12 in Miami Gardens, as the team continues to seek a trade. Advertisement Ramsey, 30, is a seven-time Pro Bowler. Alexander, 28, is a two-time Pro Bowler. Jaire Alexander cut by Packers: Fit for Dolphins? Alexander is fast, athletic, attacks the ball, is a willing tackler and makes plays. The problem is he's often injured. Alexander has averaged only 8.5 games plays over the last four seasons, including seven games played in each of the last two seasons. Alexander has had injuries to his: shoulder, groin, quadriceps, back and knee. The Dolphins, generally, now desire to get younger and add fewer injury-prone players. But the Dolphins are desperate at cornerback and so an incentive-laden one- or two-year deal could make some sense. Advertisement Like many high-profile cornerbacks, Alexander's personality has been at times described as: charismatic, outspoken, passionate, emotional, loud and playful. Miami would have to consider how he would fit into the 2025 locker room. Bookmakers cite Dolphins as Jaire Alexander destination According to odds from the Dolphins are the fourth-most likely team to add Alexander. They say the 49ers, Raiders and Rams are the top three choices. Could Alexander's availability affect what Miami receives in a Ramsey deal? Perhaps. Anything in the range of a fourth-rounder or better would seem acceptable for Ramsey, who is an extremely talented lone wolf prone to mood swings. Advertisement Alexander had five interceptions in 16 games in 2022. Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander (23) gestures to the fans before the game against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field in Chicago on Nov. 17, 2024. The problem is he's hardly played in the three seasons around that campaign. Worth a flier? Stay tuned. Patrick Paul: Miami Dolphins' LT already doing some 'top-tier things.' Linebacker who played under Indianapolis Colts' DC Lou Anarumo signs with Raiders

Former Cincinnati Bengals' linebacker Germaine Pratt, who spent his entire six-year career up to this point playing with current Indianapolis Colts' defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, is reportedly signing with the Las Vegas Raiders on a one-year deal, according to Jordan Schultz. Pratt was released by the Bengals earlier this week, making him a free agent and able to sign with any team. For a few reasons, the Colts seemed like a logical fit. Advertisement For one, there is the familiarity with Anarumo's scheme, which would not only make for a quick adjustment for Pratt, but having his experience in the meeting rooms and on the practice field during training camp could be valuable for other Colts' defenders as well. In addition to that, linebacker is a position where the Colts are quite thin, at least in terms of experience. Beyond Zaire Franklin on the depth chart, Jaylon Carlies' 242 career defensive snaps are the second-most on the team. Despite the inexperience, throughout this offseason, GM Chris Ballard has remained confident in the Colts' linebacker room. Advertisement 'It's a position we've been pretty good drafting and developing. I give our coaches and scouts a lot of credit for that," Ballard said earlier this offseason via the Indy Star. "Don't forget now, E.J. Speed, it wasn't like he came on right away. No, it took him a little time. Zaire Franklin did not come on right away. Great special team player but eventually became a linebacker that was a good player." Pratt was a team captain with the Bengals and totaled 140 tackles last season, along with forcing six total takeaways. However, his production in coverage, according to PFF's metrics, did take a step back. It has not been reported whether or not the Colts had any interest.
