Miami Dolphins need a CB and Jaire Alexander cut and suddenly available
MIAMI GARDENS — The Green Bay Packers cut Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander and he would seem perfect for the Miami Dolphins, about to trade Jalen Ramsey.
Right?
Well, maybe.
Ramsey is not expected to report to Dolphins mandatory mini-camp June 10-12 in Miami Gardens, as the team continues to seek a trade.

Ramsey, 30, is a seven-time Pro Bowler.
Alexander, 28, is a two-time Pro Bowler.

Alexander is fast, athletic, attacks the ball, is a willing tackler and makes plays.
The problem is he's often injured.
Alexander has averaged only 8.5 games plays over the last four seasons, including seven games played in each of the last two seasons.
Alexander has had injuries to his: shoulder, groin, quadriceps, back and knee.
The Dolphins, generally, now desire to get younger and add fewer injury-prone players.
But the Dolphins are desperate at cornerback and so an incentive-laden one- or two-year deal could make some sense.

Like many high-profile cornerbacks, Alexander's personality has been at times described as: charismatic, outspoken, passionate, emotional, loud and playful.
Miami would have to consider how he would fit into the 2025 locker room.
Bookmakers cite Dolphins as Jaire Alexander destination
According to odds from bookies.com, the Dolphins are the fourth-most likely team to add Alexander.
They say the 49ers, Raiders and Rams are the top three choices.
Could Alexander's availability affect what Miami receives in a Ramsey deal?
Perhaps.
Anything in the range of a fourth-rounder or better would seem acceptable for Ramsey, who is an extremely talented lone wolf prone to mood swings.

Alexander had five interceptions in 16 games in 2022.

The problem is he's hardly played in the three seasons around that campaign.

That initial extension Chubb signed was for $110 million over five years back in 2022 after he was traded from the Denver Broncos to the Dolphins. "That was a lot of money to give a pass-rusher with 26 sacks and one Pro Bowl on his resume. It was probably a bad deal, given Chubb's significant injury history—which may have foreshadowed issues in Miami," Knox wrote. But the big injury that has sidelined him since New Year's Eve of 2023 was the torn ACL, meniscus, and patellar tendon that he suffered. Advertisement Chubb had 11 sacks that year, playing in 16 games. It was the only season he had double-digit sacks and the only season he played as many as 16 games since his rookie year in 2018. "The Dolphins have still guaranteed $33.5 million over the next three years to a soon-to-be 29-year-old second-tier pass-rusher," Knox said. "For a franchise that may be closer to a reset than a deep playoff run, that's a bad deal." Haason Reddick dismisses idea he is trying to "regain his reputation"
Haason Reddick heard the criticism and knew a question about his absence at the Buccaneers' organized team activities was coming. So, the edge rusher made a preemptive statement following a mandatory minicamp practice. 'I'll address it before y'all do: I know everybody was concerned about me not showing up at [OTAs], but for me, I definitely made sure to stay in shape,' Reddick, 30, said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. 'I think I showed that to everybody out here. 'I don't think it should've been a question, but [I] just had some things to button up on as I get ready to make this transition down here so that way, once I get here, I don't have to worry about [anything] back there at home.' In 2024, Reddick didn't show up for six months after the Eagles traded him to the Jets. He missed seven regular-season games before agreeing to an adjusted contract. After signing a one-year, $14 million deal with the Bucs in March, Reddick went to work with his personal trainer, Kenny Williams, in Philadelphia. He is trying to get back to being a Pro Bowl pass rusher. Reddick had only one sack and three quarterback hits in 10 games last season, ending his streak of four consecutive double-digit sack seasons. But he doesn't buy into needing to 'regain his reputation' as a top edge rusher. 'Regain my reputation as a premier pass rusher?' Reddick said. 'Regain my rep, huh? Let's just say, I am motivated but not for that type of stuff, right? Like, I don't care what people think about me, to be honest. People can say whatever they want. That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. . . . What you talk about, things like that, as long as I'm in a great place and a safe space and my mental is strong? That's the only thing that I'm worried about.'

With the Jacksonville Jaguars minicamp in full swing, Trevor Lawrence is looking towards an improved season after his previous lackluster campaign. Throughout his first three seasons in Jacksonville, he was generally healthy and on the field, contributing to his team. He played at least 16 games in each of those seasons, but participated in only 10 games for his 2024 regular season. Last season, he suffered several injuries, including a concussion against the Texans and an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder against the Eagles. The Jaguars finished their season at a disappointing 4-13, and are hoping Lawrence avoids injuries as they look to an improved 2025 season. As of this writing, Jacksonville has veteran backups Nick Mullens and John Wolford, along with undrafted free agent Seth Henigan, ready to step in if Lawrence is sidelined. That said, Jaguars fans are certainly hoping that their star quarterback shakes off any soreness to find his targets often en route to a performance this year like he achieved in his 2022 Pro Bowl season.
