As Someone Who Doesn't Know Much About Styling Their Hair, I Use This Thermal Brush To Fake A Perfect Blowout
Style
·
Doing my hair is not my strong suit — but this brush makes it look like it is.
When it comes to hair products, it seems like there's a new, must-have tool every month — like Dyson AirWrap, Shar FlexStyler, or BondiBoost AirStyler. (And of course, we've tried them all.)
As someone with thick, frizzy hair that tends to have a slight wave, I set out to buy a hair tool at the beginning of this year. I was honestly overwhelmed with all the tools that were being shoved down my throat through my social media algorithms, so I had no idea which one to buy.
BuzzFeed
Since I was mostly interested in achieving the "blowout" look with the occasional curly 'do, I knew I didn't need a complex tool with a thousand different attachments. I also already have a conventional blowdryer so I wasn't necessarily looking to add another drying tool to my collection.
After doing some research, I decided I wanted a thermal brush, which can give you a "blowout" look without any of the hassle. Once I saw this video from Danielle Athena (@danielleathena), I knew exactly which tool I was going to buy.
In the video, Danielle uses the WavyTalk HeatWave Pro Thermal Brush to smooth out her curly hair, and the results were stunning.
My hair isn't quite as long or curly as Danielle's, so I figured if the tool can do wonders on her hair, it would definitely be able to work its magic on mine.
So, I decided to put it to the test. I purchased the Heatwave Pro Set ($99) which comes with three brush heads of varying sizes (1.2", 1.5", and 1.75"), a heat-safe glove, two hair clips, and a convenient travel case. With the different brush heads, the Heatwave Pro can give you a bunch of different looks including a bouncy blowout, tighter curls, and sleek volume.

There are also options for those who want the tool without any extra brush heads. WavyTalk sells the Blowout Boost ($59) and the Heatwave Pro ($69) which gives you the blowout look, but I decided to get the set because I was interested in experimenting with curly and sleek looks.
After about 3 months of testing it out, I feel like I've gotten the hang of everything and I'm ready to share my thoughts. I've detailed my process for a bouncy-blowout look with "c-curls", below:
I'll preface that I'm definitely not a pro at using the tool and still have a lot of room for improvement. But for the most part, I'm able to get the look that I want from this tool despite my lack of technique.
This is how my hair looks when I first wake up. It's thick, pretty frizzy, and has a slight wave to it.
Jen Adams
I know most people style their hair right after taking a shower but realistically, that's not happening for me. I've been styling it on dry hair (with the help of a couple of products) and I think it has turned out just fine.
The first thing I do is spray Lush's Super Milk conditioning hair primer ($22) all over my hair and brush out any tangles. I absolutely love this stuff. It smells so good and moisturizes my hair really well.
After my hair is tangle-free, I use about a quarter-sized amount of Creme of Nature's argan oil heat protectant ($7) and run it through my hair.
Then, I split my hair into four sections (top right, bottom right, top left, bottom left), using hair ties and clips to pin each section away from my face. I like to begin styling on one of my bottom sides.
Then, I turn on the brush and set it to 360° degrees. For this look, I used the 1.2 inch brushhead.
Jen Adams
The tool also has four other temperature modes (300 °, 330 °, 390 °, and 420 ° degrees), but I've found 360 ° degrees is the lowest heat setting that makes the style last the longest.
Basically, the idea is, for whichever side I'm styling, I'll use the opposite hand to hold the tool. For example, in this photo, I'm styling the right side, so I'm using the left to hold the base of the brush. The glove goes on the hand not holding the tool, which in this case, is my right hand.
After grabbing a small section of hair, I place the brush underneath the hair and comb through my strands halfway, not letting it brush through my hair completely. Then, I twirl my wrist to let my hair wrap around the bristles, brushing my hair out partially and repeating this process until there's about 2 inches of space from the root of my hair.
The result is a slight curl at the bottom of my hair, as pictured.
I repeat this entire process for the rest of my right side. Section by section, I do the same twirling motion with the tool to create the subtle curl at the end of my hair.
Jen Adams
For the other side of my hair, it's pretty similar, only I switch hands – since I'm styling the left side, I hold the tool with my right and wear the glove on my other hand. The idea is to create subtle curls that flip in toward my face.
Lastly, I take the front pieces and place the brush on the outside of the hair, rolling it up opposite the direction of how it naturally grows. After waiting a few seconds, I brush it through.
This time, the curls flip outward to create an extra bouncy look.
This is the end result – a flippy, bouncy look!
It looks super exaggerated at first but with each day that passes the curl will slowly fade and look more natural.
Jen Adams
For those curious, this whole process takes me about 35-40 minutes, but I have very thick hair, so I think that's pretty standard.
Overall, I really love this brush. Ever since I started using it, I've gotten a ton of compliments about how bouncy and shiny my hair looks, and I feel super glamorous! It does take a few times to get the hang of, but once you learn how to use it, the hair styling possibilities are endless. Most of all, I love how forgiving it is. I still make mistakes and don't create "perfect" curls every time. Despite my amateur technique, this brush still gives me super bouncy, frizz-free hair.
PROS:
• Affordable: For the price ($99), this set is completely worth the money. Three different brush heads, a heat-safe glove, two hair clips, and travel case are included in the set.
• Easy for Beginners: If you're just beginning your hair styling journey like me, this is the perfect way catch-all styling tool that can both straighten and curl your hair. By the third time I used it, I felt comfortable enough to go out in public with the results.
• De-Frizzes Hair: This brush really does get rid of my frizz. It's incredible.
• Heats Quickly: This brush takes about 3-4 minutes to heat up to 360 degrees.
• Style Holds For Up to 4 Days: When I use this brush, my hair looks amazing for days. The curl fades slightly with each day that passes, but even on Day 4, it still looks much better than if I had done nothing to it at all.
CONS:
• Minor Button Issue: When twirling the tool, there have been a few times when I've accidentally pressed the temperature button and changed the heat setting. It's not a huge deal because it's not like the heat turns completely off, it just switches to the hotter setting (420 degrees) which can be quickly fixed. Still annoying though.
If you're looking for a relatively affordable, basic tool that can give you a hassle-free blowout look, I would highly recommend the WavyTalk Heatwave Pro Set. It has truly been a game changer for my hair!

This Time-Saving Laundry Trick Has The Internet Buzzing
A man named Armon has recently caught the attention of over five million people with a very helpful laundry hack... In his viral TikTok, Armon says, "I'm hanging up my clothes, and it just dawned on me: 'Who else hangs up their clothes like this?'" Armon then shows himself hanging a shirt on a hanger, explaining, "So, obviously, you can just grab a hanger and put it in the shirt, you know, that kind of way, right?" "I don't remember where I learned this from, but this is how I've always done it," he says as he gets ready to demonstrate a different way he hangs his shirts. "I've always taken my shirt, put my arm through the left sleeve, and then out of the shirt hole." "And then you just stack them... Hold on, I'm getting somewhere with this," he adds. Armon starts adding each shirt to his arm by putting his hand through the left sleeve and out through the neck hole. Once he's got them all on his arm, he heads to his closet. "Now you have a stack of this, right? Now you just grab your hanger, hold the end, and just pop it on, and hang it up. I feel like this is so much easier than the other way," he says. If you're a bit confused, Armon basically takes the hanger with the hand that is not holding the shirts, grabs it with the hand that has the shirts, and slides each shirt easily on a hanger. "I really don't remember where I learned this from, but I've always done this for, I don't know, as long as I can remember. Try it out," he concludes. You can watch Armon demonstrating this in the TikTok here. The easy hack immediately blew people's minds. It was life-changing for a lot of parents. And some even felt like it leveled up their lives as functioning adults. Armon's little trick was more than appreciated. And it motivated some people to finally finish doing their own laundry. People in retail were also very grateful to learn this. It was called revolutionary. And they felt Armon deserved some sort of prize. ...Or payment for his brilliance. It is a hack that some are even going to secretly claim they discovered themselves! BuzzFeed spoke to Armon, who said he did not expect the video to blow up like it did. "I think what surprised me the most is the amount of people reaching out thanking me, and saying how much I've changed their lives. One person in particular who lost feeling in one of their arms from a stroke reached out and said for the first time in a long time, she can hang up her clothes by herself, without needing the help from others! The other thing that surprised me was how many people don't hang their T-shirts, lol." Armon also said some people in the comments helped him remember that he first learned about this clothes-hanging trick about a decade ago from this hanger hacks YouTube video. He confirmed with confidence that this hack will definitely save you a lot of time. "After I get my clothes out of the dryer and sort of everything out, I feel like I save so much time just loading them all up on my arm and taking them straight to the closet rather than bringing hangers to the clothes, putting them on, then taking them to the closet," he added. And while everyone's been showing love for the laundry hack, Armon hopes this can create some momentum for people to discover his music, too. "As fun as it is being 'that hanger guy from TikTok,' I really want to get all the traction from this video and put it towards my music! As a small independent artist, it's hard to get recognition in such an oversaturated industry." You can check out his music here and follow Armon on TikTok and on Instagram for more! In honor of this comment, we now want to open the floor to you: Do you know an easier or quicker way to do everyday chores faster? Share your hack in the comments (with a photo or video!) and you could be featured in a follow-up post!

Disneyland's Blue Bayou: Is This Restaurant Worth It?
If you've been on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland Resort, you've probably wondered about the restaurant that's literally inside the ride at the very beginning of your journey. As your boat glides through the slightly foreboding but kind of romantic bayou, you can spot guests eating at a Southern-inspired restaurant. Dark with beautiful twinkling lanterns, a huge willow tree, dressed up waiters, and a 'patio' overlooks the waters of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride — THAT is Disneyland's infamous Blue Bayou restaurant. It's a restaurant full of intrigue and mystery. And if you're anything like me, you've probably REALLY wanted to try eating here. ^ The view from my boat on Pirates of the Caribbean. Recently, the Blue Bayou has been popping up all over my FYP. As one of the more elegant and pricier sit down restaurants at Disneyland, people are wondering if the price point is worth it, what the vibes are actually like, or if the food is any good. *Editor's note: BuzzFeed was provided part of this trip free of charge; however, we were under no obligation to give a positive review. The writer paid for this meal.* Well wonder no more! I FINALLY got to dine at the Blue Bayou and it was quite the culinary and sensory experience. Here's how it all went: Reservations at the Blue Bayou get snatched up pretty quickly but guests are able to make a reservation online or through the Disneyland Mobile App up to 60 days in advance. I didn't have a reservation on a recent Disneyland trip but I kept checking the Disney app and was lucky enough to get a table for two the day before. Tucked away on a cute street in New Orleans Square, the Blue Bayou exterior blends in perfectly with the other store and shop fronts. The restaurant entrance is right beside the exit of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. My reservation was for 1pm and I would have been seated right away but I requested a 'waterfront' view, so I waited about 30 more minutes. After all, I wanted the FULL Blue Bayou experience here. We were seated in prime spots (aka right by the water with a perfect view of guests about to meet their destiny on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride) and two things stuck out to me: the cooler temperature and moody lighting of the restaurant. It was cool. You didn't need a jacket but it is distinctly cooler than other indoor rides or buildings at Disneyland. I'm not sure why this is — maybe to protect all the pirate animatronics from the hot weather? All I knew was that I was thankful for an escape from the steamy, sunny outdoors. And second, it was dark in a spooky but also kind of romantic way. The table candle lights, strung up patio lanterns, "fireflies" in the bayou, and occasional shooting star — it was a vibe for sure. I felt completely immersed in this new environment, that I kind of forgot I was in the middle of Anaheim and not in New Orleans. Sitting by the water only enhanced this experience. Back to the main event, the meal! First our drinks arrived. I ordered the Sweet Peach Iced Tea with Rum ($18.75) and my friend ordered a glass of prosecco, Le Grand Courtage, Grand Cuvee ($13.00). The Sweet Peach Iced Tea was perfectly sweet, slightly tart, and very refreshing. A little on the pricier side but I would definitely recommend it. By the way, the Blue Bayou is one of the only restaurants you can order alcohol at in Disneyland Resort along with Carnation Cafe, River Belle Terrace, Cafe Orleans, and Docking Bay. Then our appetizers came: we ordered the Crab Cakes ($18.00) and the Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad ($15.00). The crab cakes had a nice spice to them but they were a little dry. And personally, I like to eat my watermelon plain and by itself. I ordered "A Taste Of Blue Bayou" which included an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $79.00. This appetizer was the Fig and Prosciutto Salad and it was delicious — probably my favourite appetizer. The prosciutto was perfectly salty, balanced out by the smoothness of the Manchego cheese and herbed vinaigrette. Loved all the different textures in this. For our main, we split the Cajun Surf and Turf. And it's a good thing we did because this thing was I say too big? This came with bone in ribeye, clams, mussels, prawns, clams, potatoes and cajun butter. This dish was filling and decadent to say the least. The ribeye was cooked well and a little over seasoned. The prawns had a lovely smokey flavour to them— but some of the natural flavour was drowned out by the amount of sauce on it. The cajun butter was melt-in-your mouth delicious. Again, this dish was huge and we didn't even come close to finishing it. Hand included for size context. And finally, our dessert came. Now THIS was chef's kiss. It was the Brown Butter Banana Cake and it was the star of the meal. The cake is ooey gooey, caramelly, and soaked in bananas foster sauce. It's topped with candied walnuts and vanilla ice cream. I'm drooling just thinking about this! This would have gotten extra brownie points if the cake was warmed up. In total, our meal for two came to $154.90 before tip. That included two drinks, three appetizers, one main, and one dessert. I think next time we would order our own mains so that we could try more of the menu. The food was good, the drinks were great, the service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was one-of-a-kind. Overall, the best part of it all was the ~vibes~. When you're on a ride at Disneyland you're taken to a whole new world. Eating at the Blue Bayou was a beyond immersive experience where you get to indulge all your senses, especially your sense of taste. One of the most fun parts was watching the boats of riders pass by as we were enjoying our meal. They'd often wave at us and we'd wave at them. We were part of their ride experience and they were part of our dining experience. Mid bite, I'd hear screaming in the distance as the boats descended into their pirate adventure! Or some riders would scream at us, "What are you eating?" Hot tip: ride the Pirates of The Caribbean before you eat at The Blue Bayou for an extra immersive experience. Would I eat there again? Absolutely! What about you? Would you give it a try? Let us know your favourite foods to eat at Disneyland Resort. Zillennials, Tell Me The Generational Trends You Missed
I've always felt like Zillennials are perhaps a little young to have partaken in peak early aughts culture, and a bit mature for some of the Gen Z trends. So, if you're in the age range where you're a little young to have had a BlackBerry but a little old to be rocking barrel jeans, I want to know: what's a millennial trend you were too young for, or a Gen Z trend you're too old for? Maybe you missed the era of deep side parts, but lowkey think they're a serve. And maybe you're not exactly clicking with the chic haircuts du jour, either. Perhaps you feel torn between the extreme skinny jeans of 2014 and the ridiculously wide-legged pants (bordering on JNCO jeans) that the kids are wearing now. I need to hear about it. If you're judgmental about any current Gen Z trends, obviously, I wanna know. Or maybe you feel like there's a millennial trend you missed out on that you really want to come back — seriously, tell me about it! Whatever example you think of, leave your thoughts down in the comments below! Or, if you prefer, you can write into this anonymous form. Seriously — I want to hear from you! Who knows — your answer could be included in an upcoming BuzzFeed article.
