Police seek witnesses in KL crash involving biker couple
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the case is still under investigation, with the remand of the suspect extended by one more day starting today.
'The investigation papers will be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor tomorrow.
'If a directive to charge is issued, the suspect will be charged on the same day,' he said when contacted today.
According to earlier reports, the 2.30pm crash left the 53-year-old male motorcyclist with a fractured collarbone and ankle injuries, while his 49-year-old wife suffered serious injuries including a broken ankle, fractured ribs and internal bleeding in the brain. Both victims are currently being treated at Sungai Buloh Hospital.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the crash occurred when the suspect attempted to overtake another motorcycle but failed to avoid the couple's vehicle, hitting the right side of their motorcycle.
The 32-year-old suspect was remanded for two days after lodging a police report about the incident at 6.55pm on the same day.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

KUCHING (Aug 16): Bau police impounded eight motorcycles and issued 49 summonses to motorcyclists for various traffic offences during an operation last night. Other offences included not having a licence plate (six), not wearing a helmet (six), riding without a licence (five), not displaying a P-plate (three), expired road tax (three), and riding against traffic flow (two). Daram reminded road users, particularly motorcyclists, to follow traffic rules and stay vigilant. He also urged parents to monitor their children and prevent them from engaging in illegal racing. JPJ boosts road safety with Maqasid Syariah approach
PUTRAJAYA: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is committed to enhancing road safety through a Maqasid Syariah (objectives of Islamic law) approach in all advocacy programmes, special operations, and related campaigns, aiming to protect public well-being in accordance with religious principles and universal human values. Its director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the initiative aligns with the mandate of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as highlighted at the 20th edition of the Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (MAPPA XX) yesterday, which emphasised that every government policy and action should benefit, protect, and safeguard the well-being of the people. He said JPJ has carried out various advocacy and road law enforcement initiatives through road safety campaigns and enforcement activities, focusing on sustainable life preservation in accordance with the Road Transport Act 1987. 'Enforcement measures, such as the mandatory use of seat belts for passengers and bus drivers in Malaysia, effective July 1, are in line with the Maqasid Syariah principle of preserving life,' he said in a statement today.
