Love Island villa shaken up as 'THREE couples switch partners' in dramatic re-coupling just days before final

Daily Mail26-07-2025
Love Island is heading for a complete shake-up as the final gets closer.
The popular ITV2 series is nearing the end after a bunch of sexy singles have spent the last seven weeks getting to know each other.
Things have heated up in the last few days, with the Grafties taking a toll on the remaining couples.
And things are about to take a complete turn, according to reports.
The Sun has claimed that three couples have switched their partners as that £50,000 prize gets closer.
The villa's dynamic could be soon set to change after a brutal re-coupling ceremony.
The couples have not yet been announced, but it's thought viewers will find out during Sunday's episode.
A source told the publication: 'It's fair to say the fallout of the Grafties has had major repercussions.
'No one would've seen this re-coupling coming a week ago.'
The final is fast-approaching, with it taking place on August 4.
Daily Mail has reached out to ITV for comment.
It comes after the very surprising casting method used by Love Island bosses to select contestants for the show has been revealed.
It's been reported that ITV execs have admitted to using artificial intelligence as part of the casting process for the reality TV show.
After the cast of the 2025 series was revealed earlier this year, fans were quick to mock the newbies as 'clones' of the previous stars, with the likes of Megan Forte Clarke being compared to 2019 islander Maura Higgins.

And now The Sun reports that automated technology has been used to whittle down the thousands of applicants for the show.
Speaking as ITV announced its half-year results, ITV chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall shared: 'We will use AI in any way we can to make what we do more efficient.
'And a great example of that for me from (ITV) Studios is they're using a tool where it's a smart editing assistance and it's about speed and quality. And they used it for Love Island and casting this year.'
An ITV spokesperson confirmed that AI was not directly used to make casting decisions, but rather to edit hundreds of hours of footage into highlight reels for the team to watch.
They shared: 'It simply assists with the editing of audition tapes during the casting period.
'We get thousands and thousands of applications every year and we hold face to face auditions.
'When we get to the stage of narrowing it down to hundreds of prospective Islanders and we want to share audition highlights on a reel with the ITV commissioning team, to support the casting decision, we use the software (Quickture along with an Adobe editing programme) to edit the hundreds of hours of footage into highlight reels.'
They added that the process means the casting team can 'spend more time researching' and looking for more prospective Islanders.

‘We lost £250,000 minutes into new ITV show – but we can't complain'

Warning: spoilers ahead for the first episode of The Fortune Hotel series 2. It's never ideal being the first contestants to be eliminated on a primetime gameshow. However, that's the reality that friends and cleaning business partners Chelsey and Briony faced when they embarked on the adventure of competing in ITV's The Fortune Hotel series 2. The second season of the show, which is hosted by Stephen Mangan, launched tonight, with 11 pairs making their way to a hotel in the Caribbean with the aim of checking in and getting their hands on a briefcase containing a £250,000 fortune. Sadly, Chelsey and Briony were eliminated before they even had the chance to enter the hotel, as other players were quicker to figure out a cryptic crossword that informed them where they needed to go. Thankfully, they're still in good spirits about the experience. 'It weren't all bad. We can't really complain. We had an all-inclusive holiday in an absolutely stunning place that not many people would see with your best friend. We got to do things on the island,' Chelsey, who was 34 at the time of filming, tells Metro. 'It was surreal, once in a lifetime.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Briony, who was 33 at the time of filming, adds: 'We went river tubing. Then we went visiting waterfalls, and the sea… The experience looking back on it was fantastic.' At the start of episode one, the competing pairs have to fill out a crossword that, when solved, tells them that they need to head to the reception desk of the hotel. The first batch of couples who reach the correct answer and get to the hotel are safe to scheme another day – but the others are all at risk of being eliminated right away. They each choose a briefcase to open, one of which contains the devastating 'early checkout card'. Briony and Chelsey decided to select briefcase number two, as it's both their favourite number. Unfortunately, they had selected the poisoned chalice. 'Unfortunately, our lucky number just wasn't lucky,' Briony quips. Even though the friends were in the show for a very short amount of time, they still left a big impression with their energetic personalities, racing towards Stephen on the beach after they arrived by boat. Host Stephen Mangan gives Metro the lowdown on what to expect in The Fortune Hotel series two… which he promises will have even more shocks than before. 'It was exciting the first time around because it was a show that had never been done before,' Stephen tells us about the first series. 'Sometimes these shows are formats that they've tried in other countries and have been a hit, so they know how they work. But we were inventing a brand new game, which is exciting and terrifying at the same time.' So what's in store for the second outing? 'More surprises, more challenges, more epic things happening,' he promises. The host adds that if he were a player on the game, he'd be more 'ruthless' than fans might expect. To read more from our interview, click here. Before competing in the new series, Briony had already seen the first, and 'absolutely loved it'. Just like many other viewers, she watched the show assuming that it was a pretty straightforward game set in an idyllic paradise – but getting to grips with the show firsthand made both of the women realise how much harder it actually is. More Trending 'When you're in it, and you have got 101 things going on around you, it's so hard. It's a different ballgame completely,' she says, as Chelsey adds: 'It's not what we expected at all, but we loved every minute of it.' The women from Wigan would be up for returning if there was an all-stars edition, especially as they felt as though they didn't really get a chance to show themselves off fully. 'People tell us all the time we're funny,' Chelsey remarks. 'We're such a little act together, we bounce off each other, and we feel like we didn't have the time to really show that. Saturday's Lotto jackpot estimated at £7.3m after no ticket wins top prize

Saturday's lottery jackpot will be an estimated £7.3 million after no players won Wednesday's top prize. The winning Lotto numbers were 17, 31, 47, 05, 58 and 09, while the bonus number was 35. No players matched all six main numbers, meaning the jackpot was missed, while no ticket-holders won £1 million by matching five of the six numbers plus the bonus ball. Set of balls 3 and draw machine Lotto2 were used in the first Lotto draw since the National Lottery paused over the weekend to enable the biggest technology upgrade in the game's 31-year history. In Lotto HotPicks, which uses the same numbers as the Lotto draw, no players matched all five numbers to win the £350,000 top prize. Two ticket-holders won £13,000 each after matching four of the five numbers. The winning Thunderball numbers were 19, 02, 27, 03 and 38, and the Thunderball was 11. No ticket-holders won £500,000 by matching all five numbers plus the Thunderball. One player matched all five regular numbers, which earned them £5,000.

The Fortune Hotel fans speechless after major season two twist they 'never saw coming'

The Fortune Hotel returned to ITV on Wednesday night with a shocking twist. The Fortune Hotel fans were left speechless after a major season two twist they "never saw coming". Hosted by Stephen Mangan, the second series sees 22 new contestants arrive at the hotel in pairs. ‌ They'll each be handed a mysterious briefcase. Most are empty, while one hides a life-changing £250,000 in cash, and another conceals the dreaded early checkout card. ‌ At the start of the new season, which premiered on Wednesday night (August 6), the holidaymakers landed at Grenada airport, where they were greeted by Stephen. ‌ However, their excitement was soon dampened when the host revealed that one pair wouldn't be making it into the hotel. "Your first challenge is to find a room key and make it to the hotel. But there are eleven pairs here and there only ten rooms available at The Fortune Hotel," Stephen explained. ‌ "Only the first five pairs to arrive at the hotel will be guaranteed a room. If you're among the bottom six pairs, then you will be in danger because one of those pairs will be heading home." The pairs were then escorted to the port, where they were tasked with unlocking their room key by completing a crossword. After successfully making it to the hotel, the top five pairs chose their suitcases, with Jake and Mike secretly picking the £250,000. ‌ Meanwhile, the bottom six pairs had to carefully avoid choosing a suitcase with an early checkout card inside. At the end of the tense challenge, best friends Briony and Chelsey picked the unlucky suitcase, and were immediately sent home before even checking in to the hotel. ‌ Another pair will also be sent packing after they receive the next early checkout card, but they haven't been revealed just yet. After watching the season two premiere, several viewers quickly took to social media to share their surprise at the early elimination twist. ‌ "Someone getting eliminated before it starts? Well I never saw that coming," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Another added: "So much for ITV budget cuts flying 11 couples to the Caribbean only to fly one pair home back on day 1." While a third said: "Wow harsh start to the show I love it." A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: "With only 10 rooms available, one couple's time in paradise will end almost as soon as it has begun. Talking about overbooking." Meanwhile, another viewer shared their suspicions that Briony and Chelsey could return, saying: "I'm guessing that Chelsey and Briony will get some kind of reprieve later in the series."
