IndiGo flight makes emergency landing after bird hit; all passengers safe
He added that all the passengers and crew members in the aircraft are safe. However, the incident that occurred at 1.14 pm, caused some damages to the aircraft — Airbus 320.
"An IndiGo flight suffered a bird hit near Ranchi. It was approximately 10 to 12 nautical miles away from here at an altitude of 3,000 to 4,000 feet when the incident occurred. The IndiGo flight was coming from Patna to Ranchi, and the pilot had to make an emergency landing here," R R Mourya, director of Birsa Munda Airport, told PTI.
The aircraft was later scheduled to go to Kolkata, another official said.
The incident comes a day after an IndiGo flight from Raipur to Delhi encountered severe turbulence due to a sudden dust storm as it approached the national capital's Indira Gandhi International Airport, eventually forcing the pilot to abort landing at the last minute. The pilot said that the wind speed was upto 80 km per hour, therefore he discontinued the approach and climbed back until the weather cleared.
Similarly, on May 21, another IndiGo flight from Delhi to Srinagar faced extreme turbulence due to a hailstorm, resulting in visible damage to the aircraft's nose. The flight was denied permission to divert into Pakistani airspace to evade thunderstorms, and it made an emergency landing at the Srinagar airport.

Traffic comes to standstill as rain hits city, ghat areas
Pune: Just a few millimetres of rainfall in Pune city on Friday brought traffic to a grinding halt across multiple areas including Vimannagar, Tathawade underpass, Sangamwadi bridge, Sancheti Chowk and Ghole Road, among others. Heavy to very heavy rains in ghats also caused a landslide near Borghat on the Mumbai-bound lane of the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, causing extensive traffic snarls, commuters reported on X. While Pune city saw subdued rainfall activity, heavy rains continued to lash the ghat sections in Pune, Satara and Raigad, as well as the catchment areas of dams in the 24 hours ending 8.30 am on Friday. Tamhini Ghat, which connects Pune with areas in the Konkan region, recorded the highest rainfall at 210mm, followed by Kurvande (147mm), Davdi (144mm), Pophali (141mm), Lonavla (137mm), Koyna (Navja, 101mm). Mahabaleshwar received 140 mm during this period. Delhi sees sweltering Friday with warm winds, high humidity
New Delhi, Jul 25 (PTI) It was a sticky, scorching Friday in the national capital as residents battled hot sun, warm winds, and soaring humidity levels. With the mercury nearing 37 degrees Celsius and barely any rain during the day, the weather offered little relief. The Safdarjung observatory, Delhi's main weather station, recorded a maximum temperature of 36.9 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, while the minimum settled at 28.0 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels fluctuated between 58 and 72 per cent, making the afternoon hours particularly uncomfortable. Among other stations, Lodi Road was the hottest at 37.0 degrees Celsius, followed by Palam at 36.8 degrees Celsius, Ayanagar at 36.1 degrees Celsius, and Ridge at 35.0 degrees Celsius. No rainfall was recorded across the city between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, except for a slight 0.4 mm registered at Ayanagar. However, by evening, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a brief alert predicting light rain in various parts of the city, including Rohini, Narela, Pitampura, Badli, Mundka, Paschim Vihar, and Punjabi Bagh, providing hope for relief. The neighbouring areas in Haryana and Rajasthan, such as Ballabhgarh, Fatehabad and Bhadra, were also expected to see light showers. The IMD has predicted thunderstorms with rain for Saturday, with temperatures expected to hover between 28 and 35 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the city's air quality remained in the 'moderate' category, with an overall AQI of 136, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The CPCB categorises an AQI between 0-50 as 'good", 51-100 as 'satisfactory", 101-200 as 'moderate", 201-300 as 'poor", 301-400 as 'very poor", and 401-500 as 'severe".
