Sabrina Carpenter sparks huge backlash over 'disturbing' new album cover

Sabrina Carpenter has been met with a wave of backlash from fans after sharing the cover for her new album, Man's Best Friend. The Espresso singer, 26, sent us all into meltdown last week when she dropped new single Manchild, with many convinced that the lyrics refer to her relationship with ex-boyfriend Barry Keoghan. Hot on the heels of her latest earworm, the 26-year-old announced that her next offering – a follow-up to Short N' Sweet – will be released on August 29. Taking to Instagram earlier today, the Grammy-winner unveiled the artwork imagery, which showed her on her knees in a black minidress and heels. She could be seen posing for the camera and holding her hand up to a man's trouser leg, as he stood over her and gripped a fistful of her hair. The second picture in the post included a zoomed-in photo of a dog wearing a tag adorned with 'Man's Best Friend'. 'My new album, Man's Best Friend, is out on August 29, 2025,' she captioned the post. 'I can't wait for it to be yours x.' Although followers were delighted at the prospect of new music from Sabrina, her accompanying photoshoot left many 'uncomfortable'. Flocking to social media, users branded the album cover 'disturbing', and begged the Please Please Please star to 'get up'. Below the announcement on Instagram, Edersoaresx penned: 'Lol this cover art is so disgusting. As a fan I don't like it :(.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Carehanapov said: 'I dont wanna see no man dragging you around by your hair mother please get up [sic].' 'Does anybody else find this cover really disturbing?,' xxfrecklesandfairies questioned. In a discussion over on Reddit, Adorable_Slide_921 simply complained: 'Ooooh boy do I hate this!' 'The first image is very triggering for me. I hate this. A LOT,' Potential-Friend-133 agreed. Wise_Reporter_6802 posted: 'What the hell is that cover? I love Sabrina's music and I've been supporting her since 2017 but this is terrible.' Lily4ever replied: 'The cover is making me uncomfortable.' As L3tigre added: 'The visceral reaction I just got from this. It's a no.' Sabrina has yet to address the backlash, but has posted her announcement across her various social media pages. Speaking to fans about her upcoming music, she said: 'I didn't plan on releasing a new record however when inspiration strikes, I go to the studio, and when it doesn't, I still go to the studio. 'But luckily life was really happening to me and inspiration struck! I tried not to overthink the process this time. 'I felt so at ease making Man's Best Friend that I felt like it was a gift that shouldn't be taken for granted as every inch came together so effortlessly, different from my other previous projects where I'd bang my head to crack numerous codes. 'This one felt like riding a bike! I went back to some of my favorite artists growing up listening to a lot of Stevie, Dolly, Donna etc and was surprised to find so many of those artists I loved put out a new record every year for a long time. 'Can't say that is or will be the norm for me, but this time it really eased my mind about putting something out when it feels right!' More Trending Sabrina has been booked and busy over the last few months, jetting around the world on her tour – with stops in London, Dublin, Manchester and Paris. Over the weekend, she performed at Primavera in Barcelona for the first time, joining Chappell Roan and Charli XCX on the line-up. She will next be performing across two dates at Hyde Park's British Summer Time festival (BST) next month, before brining her run of dates to the US. Metro has contacted Sabrina's reps for a comment. 'We're Learning A Lot About People, Ain't We?' Kevin Hart Roasts Diddy And Kanye At BET Awards

Ever one to put himself in the firing line, Kevin Hart used his hosting gig at the 2025 BET Awards to roast two of the most controversial figures in the music industry – Sean 'Diddy' Combs, who is currently on trial for sex trafficking and racketeering charges, and Kanye West, who has taken to X in recent months to spew racist and antisemitic hatred. Diddy denies all allegations and has pleaded not guilty in court. This, it seems, is fertile ground for a comedy monologue. On Monday night at the Peacock Theatre in LA, Kevin alluded to Diddy's ongoing trial and his alleged 'freak off' parties by telling the audience there would be no afterparties where 'sh** gets slippery'. 'I'm shutting down the idea of afterparties,' he told the crowd. 'No afterparties tonight. None. Take your asses home after this. That's why I did it on Monday. People gotta go to work tomorrow.' Diddy's alleged afterparties have been a key subject during his trial, with his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, the former escort Daniel Phillip and several former assistants all testifying about their involvement in Diddy's infamous after parties. 'That's where sh** gets slippery at them goddamn afterparties,' Kevin joked. 'We're learning a lot about people, ain't we? We're learning a lot...' Kevin was hosting the BET Awards, which honour achievements across filmmaking, music and television, in front of a medley of celebrity guests including Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey and Kendrick Lamar. Another famous face who was not in attendance, but still got a mention in Kevin's speech was Kanye. Pretending to receive a message, the comedian said, 'Oh sh**, it's Kanye. Yep, he says he's out front, he's waiting for somebody to invite him in. We all saw Sinners , don't let his ass in here, so he could fight somebody, so he can fight Playboi Carti again, okay? Nobody let Kanye in, no! Not tonight!' This was seemingly a reference to the commotion Kanye and his wife Bianca Censori made on the Grammy's red carpet earlier this year. They were not expected to make an appearance at the awards show before they arrived. Kanye then stood fully clothed while giving directives to Bianca, who dropped her fur coat to reveal her almost entirely naked body in front of the cameras. Continuing to go through the award show house rules, Kevin then referenced the viral video of rapper Cardi B and her boyfriend, Stefon Diggs, partying on a yacht where he handed out a bag containing a mystery pink substance. 'No yachts, no boats,' Kevin joked. 'Cardi B, no pink stuff. What the f***, none of that stuff.' However, unlike Diddy and Kanye, Cardi B was in attendance at the ceremony and later received an honour for her work in hip hop. As Kevin put it, 'The women in hip hop are doing such amazing – I told you guys it's a matter of giving flowers, so I wanna make sure I celebrate this correctly. Shouts out to Cardi B, shouts out to Meg Thee Stallion. Shouts out to Latto, Doechii, just to name a few. You guys are all doing amazing things.' Police warn of counterfeit tickets ahead of British Grand Prix at Silverstone

Police have warned motor-racing fans hoping to attend the British Grand Prix next month to be on their guard for counterfeit tickets. Northamptonshire Police urged people to be aware of fake tickets being sold on social media platforms and also advised against coming to the event at Silverstone between 3 and 6 July without a ticket. The British Grand Prix is one of the UK's largest sporting events, with over 480,000 people expected to attend and concerts by singers Sam Fender, RAYE and Fatboy Slim. The force said uniformed and plain-clothed police officers would patrol the circuit, campsites and surrounding road network, as well as armed officers, search teams, disruption officers and ANPR units. Live facial recognition technology, which has been used at the grand prix for the last two years, will be in operation again. It scans faces with a camera to match biometrics against those held on a watchlist for posing a danger to the public, such as those who have an outstanding warrant for their arrest. Supt Pete Basham, who will lead this year's policing operation, said: "I would urge people to be aware of potential counterfeit tickets being sold, particularly on social media platforms, and I would strongly advise against coming to the event if you don't have a ticket. "We are working closely with the event organisers, other emergency services and partner agencies as the event approaches, to ensure Formula 1 fans have a safe and enjoyable experience, and that anyone looking to commit a crime doesn't succeed."
