Leverkusen's Xhaka has ‘agreement' with Saudi club Neom
Dusseldorf
Midfielder Granit Xhaka could be the latest player to leave Bundesliga runners-up Bayer Leverkusen, according to multiple German reports.
Sky TV said late Sunday that the 32-year-old Swiss international has 'an verbal agreement in principle' with Saudi Pro League club Neom SC over a summer move. The Bild paper and Kicker sports magazine also reported the Neom interest.
Sky said that Neom have informed Leverkusen of their intentions, with a transfer fee estimated at ?6 million ($7 million) for Xhaka, who has a Leverkusen contract until 2028.
There is no agreement between the clubs yet, but Sky said deciding talks could be held on Monday.
It was unclear whether Xhaka would join Leverkusen later Monday on a trip to Rio de Janeiro for a 10-day training camp.
Leverkusen have already lost coach Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid, playmaker Florian Wirtz and right back Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool, and centre back Jonathan Tah to Bayern Munich.
Leverkusen have also brought in reinforcements, led by playmaker Malik Tillman who arrived from Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven.

Germany ready to rebound for big France challenge, says Kunzer
dpa Zurich Facing France will be a huge challenge for record champions Germany in the Euro 2025 quarter-finals but they will be ready for it, German women's national team sporting director Nia Künzer has said. Germany limp into the match coming off a crushing 4-1 defeat against Sweden in their final group game, while the French impressively won all their matches, including against title holders England and 2017 champions the Netherlands. 'It was clear for us that a very difficult opponent would be waiting for us. I all saw and know which quality France have, which pace,' Künzer told broadcasters ARD. Germany coach Christian Wück was in attendance when France wrapped up the group stage with a 5-2 triumph over the Dutch on Sunday. Germany are considered underdogs, and lost against France in last year's Nations League semi-finals. But the Germans have never lost against Les Bleus at a Euros or a World Cup, and have eight Euro titles, two World Cups and one Olympic gold compared to France's zero big titles. Kunzer, who scored Germany's winner in the 2003 World Cup final against Sweden, insisted that the team will shake off the Sweden defeat and come back stronger on Saturday. 'Everyone will have to go to their highest level, play at the limit, so that we don't allow France into the game. Stress them, be nasty, that's something they don't like,' Kunzer said.

RB Leipzig legend Yussuf leaves club after 12 years for SV Hamburg
dpa Hamburg Denmark forward Yussuf Poulsen is leaving RB Leipzig after 12 years for promoted Bundesliga club SV Hamburg. Both clubs announced the transfer on Sunday, with Hamburg giving no details such as the length of his contract. The transfer fee has been estimated at 1.5 million euros ($1.75 million). Poulsen, 31, arrived at Leipzig in 2013 when they were still in the third division. He played a club record 425 matches for the eastern Germans, who reached the top flight in 2016, scoring 95 goals and recording 66 assists. At former Bundesliga and European champions Hamburg, Poulsen is to take the place of Davie Selke, who has left for Turkey's Basaksehir. 'He is a face of the Bundesliga. He knows all aspects of pro football with his experience and maturity,' Hamburg board member for sport Stefan Kuntz said. 'Yussuf went with Leipzig from the third division into the Champions League and knows all too well what is required after promotion to stay in the league and to establish yourself long term in the Bundesliga.'
