Kamal Haasan's Thug Life Sees A Dip On Day 7, Mints Rs 1.25 Crore
Upon its release on June 5, Thug Life opened to a thunderous response from the audience but failed to keep the excitement intact post Monday.
Despite huge expectations, Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam 's Thug Life continues to witness underwhelming box-office collections. The gangster drama which marked the reunion of two industry stalwarts 37 years after the release of Nayakan, had fans buzzing with excitement before the film's release. Upon its release on June 5, the film opened to a thunderous response from the audience but failed to keep the excitement intact post Monday. On Wednesday, the gangster drama seemed to slow down, witnessing only minimal growth.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Thug Life collected just Rs 1.25 crore on Day 7 (Wednesday), which brings the film's total to Rs 42.25 crore. The week began with a significant collection of Rs 2.3 Crore on Monday and saw a steady dip on Tuesday, earning mere Rs 1.8 crore. Looking at the downward graph, it seems the Kamal Haasan starrer is far from the state of recovery and might prove to be one of the box-office disasters of the year.
The decline in the number of Thug Life's collections can be attributed to the film's clash with big players like Housefull 5. The film, starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan has been maintaining a strong hold among audiences ever since its theatrical release.
Directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Kamal Haasan, Thug Life boasts a star-studded ensemble cast including Trisha Krishnan, Silambarasan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Ali Fazal, Nassar and Rohit Saraf among others. The storyline chronicles the life of Rangaraya Sakthivel, an ageing gangster, seeking revenge against those who betrayed him, including his own brother, former gang members and a man named Amar. As he embarks on the journey to destroy everyone he believes is threatening him, the film explores the themes of betrayal and power struggles. Sakthivel's extramarital affair with Indrani (played by Trisha Krishnan), a popular social media influencer, also forms a subplot of the storyline.
Earlier, Kamal Haasan opened up about his reunion with Mani Ratnam. The actor told ANI, 'Every film is a challenge, especially when you combine it with another director, such as Mani Ratnam, with an intriguing story. Fortunately, he involved me in the story's preparation. I gave him an idea. I spent the majority of my time gathering vegetables and assisting him in making them more tasty."

Karisma Kapoor's ex husband Sunjay Kapur said ‘our time on earth is limited' on social media just 4 days before death
Industrialist Sunjay Kapur, ex-husband of Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor, passed away on June 12 after he swallowed a bee during a polo match and suffered a cardiac arrest. Chairman of the automotive company Sona Comstar, Sunjay married Karisma Kapoor in 2003, and the couple had two children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan. Just days before his tragic death in London, the businessman had posted a message on social media where he spoke about making the most of one's time on earth. Sunjay took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted a picture with the caption, 'Progress demands bold choices, not perfect conditions.' The post itself had a motivational message which read, 'Your time on Earth is limited. Leave the 'what ifs' to the philosophers and instead dive headfirst into the 'why nots'.' A successful businessman, Sunjay took over his father Surinder Kapur's business empire after his death in 2015. Just a day before his passing, Sunjay also expressed his sorrow and disappointment about the Air India plane crash that occurred in Ahmedabad. Sunjay reportedly had a great relationship with his kids from both the marriages and even hired a parenting expert so he could be a better father to them.
