His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, honoured the winners of the Exceptional Volunteer competition in recognition of their outstanding contributions to volunteer work.
The awards were presented during the Bahraini Youth Day celebration, organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs to mark this significant national occasion. The recognition reflects His Highness's commitment to supporting and encouraging Bahraini youth to contribute actively to society, fostering a culture of volunteerism as a noble human value that strengthens social cohesion and highlights the positive role of youth in national development.

Bahrain elected to UN Women Executive Board for 2026–2028

Empowerment Al Awadhi highlighted that Bahrain's term coincides with the third edition of the Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women's Empowerment. The award, held in cooperation with UN Women, reinforces Bahrain's commitment to global best practices. Al Awadhi emphasised that Bahrain will use its membership to support the efforts of UN Women and contribute to the formulation of global policies and strategies that empower women, enhance their role in building societies and achieving sustainable development goals, and advance their participation in technology, science, and various domains, in line with Bahrain's longstanding principles of equality and equal opportunity.

TDT | Manama The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed on Tuesday that Bahrain will receive two direct slots in the newly structured AFC Champions League 2 for the 2025–26 season, which brings a great opportunity for domestic clubs to make their presence felt on the continental stage. Muharraq and Khalidiya Set for Asia Reigning Bahraini league champions Muharraq SC and Khalidiya SC, winners of the King's Cup and league runners-up, will represent the Kingdom in this competition. The two sides earned automatic qualification based on their domestic success during the 2024–25 season. This marks a continuation of Bahrain's growing stature in AFC competitions, with the allocation reflecting the Kingdom's rising performance in regional football and the AFC's broader restructuring of its club tournaments. New Chapter in Asian Football The AFC Champions League 2 is part of the revamped AFC men's club competition framework, which now includes three tiers: the elite AFC Champions League Elite, the AFC Champions League 2, and the AFC Challenge League. Of the three, the second tier features the largest pool of participating clubs. The upcoming edition of AFC Champions League 2 will comprise 29 teams—14 from the West Zone and 15 from the East Zone, including clubs that fall out of qualification for the top-tier tournament. A further six teams will compete in preliminary rounds for the remaining group-stage spots. Group Stage Set for September The group stage of the competition is scheduled to kick off on 16 September 2025, with the official draw taking place on 18 August. The competition structure ensures that clubs from smaller footballing nations like Bahrain have an expanded platform to compete against comparable sides across the continent. MP Ahmed Al Salloom has praised the smooth running of this year's Hajj, calling it 'a mark of pride for Muslims everywhere'. Crowds were managed with care, and pilgrims approached the rituals calmly and without trouble. The scale of preparation, he said, was striking. The credit, he added, lay with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Al Salloom, Chairman of Parliament's financial committee, thanked Bahrain's leadership for helping its pilgrims. Royal guidance He thanked His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, saying their guidance and steady oversight helped ensure pilgrims from Bahrain received what they needed to carry out the rituals calmly and without trouble. He also praised King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their care for the pilgrims. The transport, shelters, and the helping hands, he said, showed just how much had been put in to ease the strain on those making the journey. He credited Bahrain's Hajj mission. Staff kept a close eye on local pilgrims and worked closely with other bodies. It showed a strong sense of duty and teamwork, he said. Al Salloom said the results spoke plainly. From Saudi planning to Bahraini support, the cooperation was clear. And behind it all, he added, was one shared aim, to serve the pilgrims and honour the faith.
