Furious Denny Hamlin Rips Team for ‘Unacceptable' Issue at Nashville
Furious Denny Hamlin Rips Team for 'Unacceptable' Issue at Nashville originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Denny Hamlin had a strong car at Nashville Superspeedway, running up front for much of the race around the 1.33-mile track, including leading the second-most laps at 79, only behind eventual race winner Ryan Blaney's 139.

The No. 11 started on the outside of Row 1 and stayed near the front, winning the first stage and finishing third in the second. He finished third.
All of it was even more impressive when you consider in the humid conditions the air that normally circulates through his helmet wasn't doing so because the hose had become detached. It happened twice. And on that second time in the third stage with just under 100 laps to go, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver didn't hesitate in showing his displeasure about the situation.

'I lost my [expletive] helmet hose again,' he said over the team radio. 'Gotta get the interior of our car right. [Expletive] unacceptable!'

'Copy,' his crew chief responded.
After the race, and having cooled down physically and mentally, the 44-year-old spoke about the adversity he had to overcome with the malfunctioning helmet.
'That's three elements that the other driver's had I didn't have,' he said referring to also not having any water or a cool suit like many drivers employ. 'So yeah, I got hot. I had to Carson Hocevar the helmet visor up there to try to get a little air in."
The No. 11 team has a chance at redemption next Sunday at Michigan. Race coverage begins at 2 p.m. ET on Prime.

ESPN FPI Reveals Which SEC Teams Are Locks to Make College Football Playoff
ESPN FPI Reveals Which SEC Teams Are Locks to Make College Football Playoff originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Texas Longhorns will enter the 2025 college football season with one of the most talented rosters in the country. Advertisement Led by quarterback phenom Arch Manning, Texas will look to reach its third consecutive College Football Playoff. While the Longhorns lost several key starters to the NFL from a season ago, Texas still returns a plethora of playmakers such as Anthony Hill, Colin Simmons, Michael Taaffe and Cedric Baxter. According to ESPN's FPI (Football Power Index), Texas has the best odds of reaching the College Football Playoff this season with a 83.9% chance. Georgia (78.6%) and Alabama (66.2%) are close behind. Seven SEC teams are included in the top-13 spots of ESPN's ranking: Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and LSU. Outside of the SEC, teams like Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon, Clemson, Miami and Notre Dame have realistic chances of reaching the playoff. Advertisement Texas has reached the College Football Playoff semifinals the last two seasons but have failed to close out the game in the final minutes. In 2023, Steve Sarkisian's squad narrowly lost to the Washington Huskies. Last year, the Longhorns were defeated by Ohio State in the final minutes. All eyes will be on Texas this season as they strive to live up to the high expectations. Caitlin Clark's Replacement Forced Into Wardrobe Change During Fever-Mystics Game
Caitlin Clark's Replacement Forced Into Wardrobe Change During Fever-Mystics Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever looked to end a three-game drought on Tuesday night, facing Brittney Sykes and the Washington Mystics for the second time in the 2025 WNBA season. Advertisement The Fever have been without Caitlin Clark for the past three games, including Tuesday, due to a quad injury she suffered in late May. She is expected to be out until at least June 10, when Indiana faces the Atlanta Dream. With Clark sidelined, White inserted Sydney Colson into the starting lineup as her replacement. Colson logged 31 minutes in her first start but played only nine in the second game after suffering a leg injury. Despite the injury, Colson was not on the Fever's injury report against Washington, receiving her third start of the season. And she gave some Indiana fans another scare. Indiana Fever guards Caitlin Clark and Sydney ColsonEmily Faith Morgan-Imagn Images With 6:19 remaining in the first quarter, Colson was defending Sykes as the Mystics guard drove to the basket. Colson appeared to get too close and took accidental head-to-head contact, receiving a bloody nose in return. Advertisement While Sykes shot her free throws, Colson was subbed out for Aari McDonald and sent to the locker room. She later returned to the game, but according to Fieldhouse Files' Scott Agness, Colson had to change jerseys, likely due to blood. "Sydney Colson just returned to the bench — new white jersey and all," Agness wrote on X. "Appears to be a cut below her right eye." Prior to Clark's injury, Colson hadn't seen much action with the Fever, tallying 24 minutes through four games. On the season, she is averaging 1.6 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Following Tuesday's contest, Indiana will get a rematch with the Chicago Sky on Saturday in what could be its final game without Clark. Stefon Diggs Makes First Post Amid Patriots Cut Rumors
Stefon Diggs Makes First Post Amid Patriots Cut Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Stefon Diggs was introduced to New England as one of the biggest signings of the NFL offseason, inking a three-year deal worth up to $63.5 million, per Spotrac. Advertisement Instead, as the offseason moved into late May, Diggs found himself at the center of a media storm. Last week, the now-infamous "Stefon Diggs boat video" began to surface, with fans speculating about why Diggs would be at a boat party, alongside rumored girlfriend Cardi B, instead of participating in voluntary organized team activities (OTAs). His absence from OTAs, combined with the viral video, triggered talk of Diggs potentially getting cut from the Patriots. On Saturday, as NFL rumors continue to swirl, Diggs broke his social-media silence with a montage of images spanning his last month of recovery and rehab, alongside the caption, 'to the month of May, I appreciate you none the less… gotta stay focused 🤞🏾.' Diggs arrived in Foxborough recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) suffered with the Houston Texans in October 2024, and his presence was meant to signal a cultural reset under new head coach Mike Vrabel, who took over after New England's 4-13 finish in 2024. Advertisement Vrabel later confirmed that the organization was aware of the video but declined to elaborate, saying only, "We want to make great decisions on and off the field." Insider Scott Zolak, a former Patriots quarterback turned analyst, indicated that the boat incident "isn't the only thing" under review and that cutting Diggs remains on the table given various behavioral questions. Former Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Taormina-Imagn Images Over 10 NFL seasons split between the Minnesota Vikings (five), Buffalo Bills (four) and Houston (one), Diggs has amassed 10,491 receiving yards and 70 touchdowns on 857 career receptions. His greatest years came in Buffalo, where he posted four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, including a league-leading 1,535 receiving yards and 127 receptions in 2020. Advertisement With the Bills, he collected four straight Pro Bowl selections and a First-team All-Pro nod in 2020.
