Did you know Aishwarya Rai's lookalike Sneha Ullal was recommended by Salman Khan's sister Arpita Khan? Makers of 'Lucky: No Time for Love' reveal

Filmmakers
Radhika Rao
and
Vinay Sapru
recently shared insights on how newcomer
Sneha Ullal
was cast in
Lucky: No Time for Love
with
Salman Khan
. Sneha attracted eyeballs because of her resemblance to
Aishwarya Rai
, a trend that continued to haunt her throughout her brief career in Bollywood.
The Casting Process: No Deliberate Strategy
In a candid interview, the filmmakers clarified that casting Sneha wasn't a deliberate choice to find someone resembling Aishwarya. This came at a time when Salman and Aishwarya were rumoured to have been in a relationship just before the film's release.
Unintentional Comparisons: Acknowledging the Resemblance
Talking to Hindi Rush, the filmmakers were asked about Sneha Ullal's striking resemblance to Aishwarya Rai and whether her casting was a deliberate strategy. They explained, 'It wasn't a strategy. We wanted to cast a newcomer, and Arpita (Khan, Salman's sister) mentioned a very pretty girl from her college and suggested we audition her. The role was of a schoolgirl whose parents worked in an embassy, and she needed to have the vibe of someone who had lived in Europe. Sneha fit the role perfectly.'
The filmmakers acknowledged that they gradually realized how the narrative was unfolding, but stressed that they never saw the resemblance as something to be overly focused on, especially when comparing anyone to someone as beautiful as Aishwarya Rai. Radhika added, 'We'd occasionally notice the resemblance during shooting, but so many people resemble others. We never felt it was that striking, but when the campaign began and people started pointing it out, that's when we took notice. It would be untrue to say we didn't think about it, but it wasn't a big deal. Honestly, being compared to Aishwarya is a compliment!'
Sneha Ullal on Publicity and Comparisons
Sneha Ullal has previously mentioned that the focus on her appearance was largely driven by publicists. She clarified that she was always comfortable in her own skin and that the comparisons didn't affect her. According to Sneha, the way her image was portrayed by the PR team amplified the comparison, making it a bigger issue than it might have been otherwise.
Zarine Khan's Similar Struggle: Comparisons to Katrina Kaif
Interestingly, another actor launched by Salman Khan had to deal with similar comparisons to someone she was rumored to have dated and then parted ways with. Zarine Khan, who made her debut in Veer, has spent years facing comparisons to Katrina Kaif. Speaking on Bharti Singh's podcast, Zarine revealed that life after Veer was challenging, and she received a lot of criticism. While she initially felt flattered by being compared to Katrina, the experience turned difficult as her career progressed. Zarine, who had previously struggled with her weight, saw the comparison as a significant milestone, but it eventually backfired. She felt like an outsider in the industry, and despite being launched by Salman Khan, she was perceived as arrogant by many.

Actor Saanand Verma has worked in several films like Mardaani, Chhichhore, Raid and others. However, he is best known for his comic role in the television show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! In a recent interview with Hindi Rush, Saanand opened up about his encounters with Amitabh Bachchan and revealed how he was once rude to him. (Also Read: Saanand Verma on Sushant Singh Rajput's death case: What's happening right now is his character assassination) He recalled shooting a KBC promo with Big B and shared how warmly he behaved towards him. He said, "I have spoken to many stars, but I didn't think much about them. But I felt Amitabh Bachchan's aura when I was shooting Kaun Banega Crorepati's promo. The first time I met him… he was like… I felt like I was Abhishek Bachchan. I felt like I was his son. Pehle toh aise kar rahe the jaise humara janam janam ka rishta hai (He was behaving as if we have a bond of many lifetimes). We spoke for three hours." However, the actor revealed that the superstar behaved coldly during their second meeting for an ad shoot and said, "The second time I met him to shoot an advertisement, he was very rude. After completing the shoot, I went and told him, 'I consider myself very fortunate to be able to work with you twice.' But he didn't even look at me, he kept staring at a painting and said, 'Bhagwan kare aapko tisbara mile' (May God give you a third chance also).' Saanand went on to say that no one is really friends in the industry and further agreed with Paresh Rawal's statement that people are only colleagues in the business. Saanand started his acting journey with the television show Lapataganj and made his Bollywood debut with Rani Mukerji's film Mardaani. He followed it up with appearances in several successful shows like CID, F.I.R., and Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! and films like Raid, Chhichhore, and Mission Raniganj, among others. He was most recently seen in the film Vijay 69, which also featured Anupam Kher, Chunky Panday, and Mihir Ahuja in key roles. Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in the movie Vettaiyan. He will next be seen in Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD sequel. The film also stars Deepika Padukone, Prabhas and Kamal Haasan and is scheduled to go on floors in December this year.

'Amitabh Bachchan was rude to me when I met him second time,' says 'Bhabhiji Ghar Pe Hai' actor Saanand Verma: 'Pehli baar mile toh lagaa Abhishek Bachchan main hi hu'

Actor Saanand Verma known for playing Saxena in the popular show 'Bhabhiji Ghar Pe Hai' had once done a shoot for 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' with Amitabh Bachchan . He also got the opportunity to work with the legendary actor for a commercial shoot again. In a recent interview, he revealed that he's also interacted with many other stars like Jeetendra, but the only time he felt that superstar aura was when he shot with Bachchan. He recalled how contradictory both his meetings were with the superstar. He revealed that during their first encounter, he chatted with Big B for three hours and he was so nice to him. Verma said in an interview with Hindi Rush, "Mujhe unka aura feel hua when I first met him. Second time mila toh woh rude the kaafi. Pehli baar mila toh lagaa Abhishek Bachchan main hi hu. Unka beta main hi hu. (I felt his aura when I met him first. During our second interaction, he was pretty rude but when I met him for the first time, I felt like I was only Abhishek Bachchan. He spoke to me like I was his son)," laughed Verma. He further elaborated on what had happened during their second interaction. "We were shooting for an ad and I went up to him and said, 'Main bohot zyada bhagyashaali mehsoos karta hu joh aapke saath dobara kaam karne ka mauka mila.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Idols - Handmade Brass Statues for Home & Gifting Luxeartisanship Buy Now Undo Toh unhone dekha hi nahi meri taraf. (I told him, 'I'm quite lucky to work with you for the second time' but he didn't reply, he kept looking at the painting. He then responded, 'May God give you the opportunity even for the third time.'" Verma added he's not complaining about Bachchan, but just pointing out the contradiction in his behaviour during both the meets. He added, "I'm talking about the contradiction. Ek baar kuch zarurat se zyada hi dhyaan diya unhone and doosri baar ignore maar diya. Yeh contrast hai. Yeh ullekhniya tha. Mujhe Amitjee se shikayat nahi hai. Main unki respect karta hoon bohot and unke jaisa kalaakaar koi hua nahi hai. Par yahan koi dost nahi hai. (The first time, he paid more attention to me than required and the second time he just ignored me. I have no complaints with him. I respect him immensely and one will never ever see an artist like him again but all I'm saying is, nobody is a friend here)." Saanand further said that Paresh Rawal said something very right recently in an interview that when you're working with someone, they are colleagues, not friends. Rawal had said that reflecting upon his statement about Akshay Kumar where he called him a colleague and not a friend. Amitabh Bachchan Was 'Very Rude, Didn't Even Look At Me': Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain Actor Recalls

Last Updated: When Saanand Verma first worked with Amitabh Bachchan, he was treated like a "son". However, their second time working together was starkly different. Actor Saanand Verma grew immensely popular after he starred in the superhit TV show, Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain. Despite having worked with the best actors in the Indian entertainment industry, he only felt starstruck in front of one actor- Amitabh Bachchan. When Verma first worked with Bachchan, the veteran actor treated him like a 'son". However, their second time working together was starkly different. Verma said Bachchan was rude to him during the shoot. In a recent chat with Hindi Rush, Saanand Verma opened up about his contrasting experience with Amitabh Bachchan. He said, 'I have spoken to many stars, but I didn't think much about them. But I felt Amitabh Bachchan's aura when I was shooting Kaun Banega Crorepati's promo. The first time I met him… he was like… I felt like I am Abhishek Bachchan. I felt like I am his son. We spoke for three hours." His second time was not as great. Recalling his cold interaction, he said, 'However, the second time I met him to shoot an advertisement, he was very rude." 'After completing the shoot, I went and told him, 'I consider myself very fortunate to be able to work with you twice.' But he didn't even look at me, he kept staring at a painting and said, 'Bhagwan kare apko tibara mile (May God give you a third chance also),'" he said. Despite this coldness, Verma maintains that he still has immense respect for the veteran actor. He said, 'He gave me a lot of attention the first time and ignored me completely the second time, that contrast was noticeable. I love and respect Amit ji a lot. I don't think there is another actor like him in Hindi film industry but yes nobody is friends in the film industry." Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan is gearing up for the shoot for Kalki 2. Directed by Nag Ashwin and also starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan, the sequel is expected to go on floors this year.
