Kumbulla's Roma future uncertain amid interest from Espanyol and Verona

Yahoo25-06-2025
Marash Kumbulla is set to return to Trigoria following a strong loan spell with Espanyol, but his future at Roma remains far from certain.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Spanish club is eager to make the defender's move permanent and has submitted a bid of €7 million. However, Roma have rejected the offer, as the fee would not generate a capital gain for the club—a key consideration under current financial constraints.

Meanwhile, Hellas Verona have also entered the race for his signature. Kumbulla spent over a decade with the Gialloblù, from youth level through to the senior team, before joining Roma in 2020. Now, Verona are eyeing a reunion, especially as they seek a replacement for Diego Coppola in central defense.
While the possibility of returning 'home' to Verona is appealing, Kumbulla has not ruled out staying in Spain, where he enjoyed a resurgence last season with consistent performances.
With his contract at Roma running until 2027, the coming weeks will be decisive in determining whether the Albanian international remains in the capital or moves on for the next chapter of his career.

Roma agree Solbakken sale to Nordsjaelland

Roma have reportedly agreed the sale of Ola Solbakken to Nordsjaelland, two and a half years since his move from Bodo/Glimt. According to Il Tempo and the player has already flown out to Norway to complete and medical and the two clubs are exchanging documents this evening. This had been an ill-fated transfer to the Stadio Olimpico as a free agent from Bodo/Glimt in January 2023. (Photo by) Solbakken made only 15 competitive appearances in the Giallorossi jersey, where he scored one goal and provided two assists. He went out on a series of loan spells to Olympiacos in Greece, Japanese club Urawa Reds, and spent last season in Serie A with relegated Empoli. Under contract with Roma until June 2027, this will nonetheless represent a profit for them, as he had arrived for free. It is going to be a permanent transfer and therefore get him off the Roma books. This is a return home for the Norway international, who has 11 senior caps for his country, able to play on the right, left or in a more central attacking role.

Barcelona playmaker insists they have ‘made better signings than Real Madrid' this summer

Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has stirred the rivalry pot with a bold statement ahead of the 2025/26 season. Speaking to the COPE, Olmo confidently claimed, 'We have made better signings than Real Madrid. We have also strengthened ourselves.' His remark has sparked debate, but a closer look at the numbers and strategies behind both clubs' transfer business this summer shows there's substance behind his confidence. Barcelona's transfer window Barcelona's approach has been targeted and strategic. They signed Joan Garcia from Espanyol by triggering his €25 million release clause, securing a young, talented Spanish goalkeeper with long-term potential. They also landed Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen for just €2.5 million, a bargain for a rising star known for his flair and creativity. Dani Olmo says Barcelona have had a better window than Real Madrid. (Picture courtesy: FC Barcelona Official Website) That brings Barça's total spending to just €27.5 million, but each signing directly addresses squad needs. Lastly, they also signed Marcus Rashford, albeit on loan without a fee. Real Madrid's spending spree Real Madrid, by contrast, have gone big. They brought in Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth for around €59.5 million and Franco Mastantuono from River Plate for a reported €63.2 million. In addition, they completed a €6-10 million early registration deal for Trent Alexander-Arnold and paid approximately €50 million for Alvaro Carreras from Benfica. Their total outlay nears €130–140 million. Despite the spending gap, Barcelona's signings seem more cost-effective and calculated. They filled gaps without compromising financial stability, while Real Madrid's high spending carries a higher risk. 'All teams make changes in the transfer window, and we don't mind them signing or adding players. We have to focus on our own,' he added. From Olmo's perspective, it is not about quantity or headlines. Rather, it is about strengthening smartly. In that sense, Barcelona may well have had the better transfer window.
