Innisfil police seize cocaine, imitation guns, pills and wad of cash after spring drug probe
Two men have been arrested in Innisfil following a months-long police investigation that began earlier this spring.
According to South Simcoe Police, the street crime unit launched an investigation under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act a few months back. On Thursday, officers executed search warrants at two homes and one vehicle, with two additional vehicles still awaiting search in connection to the case.
During the search, police say they seized several packages of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine weighing a total of seven ounces, along with half an ounce of red, blue, and brown fentanyl, 39 oxycodone pills, more than $10,000 in cash, and a variety drug trafficking paraphernalia.
Police also say they recovered several legally owned firearms, imitation guns, and other weapons.
A 47-year-old and a 50-year-old from Innisfil are now facing charges including; trafficking in a controlled substance x 3 (suspected cocaine, fentanyl, oxycodone), possession for the purpose of trafficking x 3 along with a handful of other offences.

Waterloo says 'high likelihood' unapproved LiveBarn streams were active since May
The City of Waterloo says there is a "high likelihood" that unscheduled LiveBarn streams at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex (WMRC) ran from May 1 to July 23. City staff were first made aware of the issue on July 23, when it was discovered that a LiveBarn camera meant for streaming minor hockey games was active outside scheduled times, livestreaming footage of children taking part in summer camp activities within view of the camera. A release from the city on Wednesday says the stream is only available to subscribers but, according to LiveBarn, none of the footage was downloaded or shared. The city says the WMRC was the only facility affected in Waterloo. It says other groups, outside of children's summer camps, may have been recorded during the extended period, too. The city says it has contacted all relevant renters of the space and the guardians of campers who may have been impacted. LiveBarn cameras remain offline in all Waterloo arenas while the city works with the Waterloo Minor Hockey Association and the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario. LiveBarn confirms unauthorized livestreaming A LiveBarn spokesperson confirmed livestreaming cameras filmed summer camp programs at: The Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex in Waterloo. Hespeler Arena and Dickson Arena in Cambridge. The Lions Arena and Grand River Arena in Kitchener. The City of Waterloo says according to its contract with LiveBarn, the livestreaming company is responsible for any information recorded through the camera. "The agreement states that LiveBarn has all responsibility for the cameras and associated equipment, including the operation and use, and signage," the city said in an emailed statement sent to CBC last month. The Ontario Information and Privacy Commissioner has been notified of the livestreaming issue. "We are in the early stages of gathering information to determine next steps and cannot share additional details at this time. We can follow up with you when there are further developments," said an emailed statement from the privacy commissioner's office to CBC in July.

Calgary police search for missing man last seen in Rundle
Calgary police are working to locate a man reported missing from the community of Rundle. Police say Peter, 77, was last seen leaving a home in the 6400 block of Rundlehorn Drive N.E. at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Investigators believe that after, he may have been at the Scotiabank in the 2200 block of 68 Street N.E. Peter suffers from a medical condition, and police say his family is concerned for his well-being. He is described as 5'6' tall (168 cm) and 140 pounds (64 kg) with grey hair and a grey beard. When he was last seen, Peter was wearing a beige fishing hat, a black and blue checkered shirt and light-blue pants. Anyone with information on Peter's whereabouts is asked to call police at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers. NOTE: The Calgary Police Service announced last year it would no longer be sharing the last names of those who are reported missing – or sharing details of whether any of those individuals are located deceased – as a standard practice moving forward.

Vancouver police appeal for information in 2023 murder

Two years after a man was stabbed to death in Vancouver's Granville Entertainment district, police say they believe there are people who have information but have not shared it with investigators. The victim, 32-year-old Jose Kaze, was stabbed on Granville Street near Smithe Street around 3:15 a.m. on Aug. 4, 2023, the Vancouver Police Department said in Wednesday's appeal for information. 'We know the Granville Mall remains busy just after 3 a.m. on weekends, and someone would have seen what happened,' Const. Jason Doucette said in the statement. 'If you have any information about this homicide, please don't assume someone else has already told us. Call us and let us determine if it's important.' At the time of the fatal stabbing, authorities said they had not determined a motive and did not know whether the attack was random. Anyone with information is being urged to call investigators at 604-717-2500.
