Where all The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1 cast are now four years on from filming

Cosmopolitan4 hours ago

The Ultimatum: Queer Love season two is currently airing on Netflix, with a new batch of couples putting their relationship to the test to figure out whether they're ready to settle down, call it quits for good, or move on with someone new.
It's been two years since season one first aired on the streaming site and had us all well and truly hooked, and almost four years since the show was filmed.
With the new season underway, we couldn't help but wonder where the likes of Lexi and Rae or Tiff and Mildred are now.
From career changes to new relationships and an engagement, here's where the cast of The Ultimatum: Queer Love season one are now.
Despite Rae exploring a connection with Vanessa (ahem, Finger Gate) during their trial married, she ultimately chose to return to Lexi. Still, throughout the season, Lexi often dominated the dynamic, frequently overshadowing Rae. They were still together by the time the reunion came around and were even planning their wedding. However, they called things off shortly after the reunion aired.
Lexi is now in a relationship with Lil Z, who she refers to as her "wife" and the couple often share very loved up pictures on their social media - many of which have us wondering if we're interrupting something. The pair hard launched their relationship in 2023 and later got engaged.
In terms of work, Lexi seems to have stepped away from consulting for an international taxi firm and has moved into lifestyle content creation.
As for Rae, she's currently working as a software engineer and also appears to be in a new relationship with a talent manager named Caitlin.
On 22nd May, Rae shared a montage of videos and images of the couple, with the caption: "The butterfly effect is real because what if I was never issued an Ultimatum".
Tiff and Mildred had a pretty tumultuous relationship while on the show, marked by conflict and weekly breakups. While Tiff proposed to Mildred during the finale, things didn't last.
At the reunion, it was revealed that Tiff and Mildred had broken off their engagement after a domestic dispute that led to Mildred's arrest.
Following the show, Tiff went on to host the Fweebs Podcast alongside Karina Gonzalez. Tiff's Instagram bio states that they are a "Narcissistic Abuse Coach" and followers can access coaching sessions via a link. Tiff hosts and attends lost of Pride events in the US and has recently been making videos commenting on the new season of The Ultimatum.
After the show, Mildred continued her work as a Zumba instructor, but has since stepped away from social media.
Although turbulent, Sam and Aussie's story ended with a proposal in the finale.
Fans will be happy to hear that the duo are still together.
It's not yet known whether they've tied the knot yet, but Sam posted a picture of their proposal on 18th June with a very lengthy caption, where she stated: "And no I won't be commenting on our marriage status because it really doesn't matter whether or not you know. The exception is if we know you personally lol I don't really follow traditions anyways, but I will say it's funny that the Ultimatum actually helped me care less about marriage than I did before we started the journey."
The pair advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and mental health on their respective Instagram accounts, sharing lots of advice videos with the hope of providing more representation as queer Asians.
They are also the only surviving couple of season one, so they should be quite proud.
Xander and Vanessa were the only couple to part ways on Ultimatum Day, a decision that aligned with Vanessa's father's insight that she wasn't ready for marriage - she just didn't want to lose Xander.
Following the show, Vanessa debuted her new girlfriend. She also moved to Los Angeles. She has kept the identity of her partner private, although she does appear in some of her Instagram posts and the pair seem very smitten.
As for Xander, they still live in Hawaii but mentioned they were considering a move to Los Angeles or San Diego, where The Ultimatum: Queer Love was filmed.
Xander appears to be on good terms with Mal, who they posted a pic with last year June, writing: "Thanks for an amazing excuse to go see people I love @netflix" with some heart-eye emojis.
At the moment, Xander doesn't appear to be in a relationship, or at least a public one, and is focusing on their career as a Physical Therapist and Mind and Body Coach.
Despite Yoly tearfully accepting Mal's proposal in the finale, the pair broke up soon after filming as old issues resurfaced and Yoly's lingering feelings for Xander became clear. Xander and Yoly's relationship fizzled, however.
The pair remained single for some time after the show, but Yoly is now in a relationship with a content creator named Domenick.Domenick appears in many of Mal's Instagram posts and things seem to be going well for them.
When it comes to work, Yoly founded Lovers and Friends Chicago, which is a community for 30+ lesbians and queer allies. She also spends a lot of her time travelling and creating content.
Mal is in a new relationship with dancer Sammy Picone, and the fans approve, calling them an "awesome match".
In February, Mal shared a carousel of pics and videos with Sammy alongside the caption: "It's quite simple. I love you."
Sammy commented: "*zoomies activate* Baby I adore you. Thank goodness the universe persistently nudged us into each others' orbit."
Asides from their relationship, Mal is a mental health advocate, producer and makes fashion and lifestyle content.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love season two is currently streaming on Netflix.

Twin Cities weekend events: Pride Festival, Beer Dabbler and Top the Tater Days

June may be winding down, but the biggest Pride celebrations in Minnesota are about to take over the Twin Cities. The big picture: The Twin Cities Pride Festival will take over Loring Park Saturday-Sunday with over 650 vendors, entertainment across three stages, a cannabis garden, book fair and the parade Sunday at 11am. Get an early start across the street at Friday's Pride Beer Dabbler in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, which features unlimited pours of over 90 brews and "infused drinks." ($59.43+ for a drink ticket) Meanwhile: People's Pride, which organizers describe as the "non-corporate alternative pride event" by and for the Twin Cities queer community, is Saturday from 12-4 at Powderhorn Park. Note: Masks are required and provided. (Free) The park will also be the starting point for Sunday's Powderhorn Queer Walking Tour, a two-mile walk that explores the LGBTQ+ history of the south Minneapolis neighborhood. (Sliding scale tickets range from $0-$20) More things to do... 🥔 Win a lifetime supply of Top the Tater at Farmington's Top the Tater Days, an enormous community festival through Sunday that's entirely themed around the beloved Midwestern chive and onion dip. Along with your classic carnival, parade, and cornhole and bingo tournaments, the itinerary includes a "scooping contest" — in which folks see how much Top the Tater they can get on an Old Dutch potato chip without breaking it. (Free) 👟 Take a hike surrounded by lightning bugs this weekend at one of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum's Firefly Nights, a series of after-hours hikes on routes heavily populated with the glowing winged beetles. ($10 members, $20 non-members) 🧳 Find anything you need (and plenty you don't) at the Stillwater Flea & Crafter Market Saturday-Sunday at the Washington County Fairgrounds. Over 200 vendors will be selling antiques, collectibles and more, new, "rusty and rustic." (Free entry and parking) 🧶 Attention craft enthusiasts (and appreciators): The American Craft Fest is back. The Saturday-Sunday event, now in its second year, brings over 50 emerging artists to Union Depot, with hands-on activities for visitors like canoe building, rug making, stained glass art and more. (Free) Pro tip: Due to construction and road closures in and around St. Paul, organizers recommend taking the light rail — the stop is directly in front of Union Depot.

‘KPop Demon Hunters' Director Thought About A Live-Action Version

KPOP DEMON HUNTERS - When they aren't selling out stadiums, Kpop superstars Rumi, Mira and Zoey use ... More their secret identities as badass demon hunters to protect their fans from an ever-present supernatural threat. Together, they must face their biggest enemy yet – an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise. ©2025 Netflix Since its release last week, Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters has reached No. 1 in 26 countries and the Top 10 in 93 countries. Critics and fans have praised the animated feature, directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, with a 96% Rotten Tomatoes score. The soundtrack has also generated buzz, hitting No. 1 on the iTunes Top Album and K-Pop Charts, as well as the Apple Music Pop and K-Pop Album Charts. The film centers on Huntrix, a K-pop girl group who are secretly demon hunters sworn to protect their fans from supernatural threats. One of the hunters, Rumi (Arden Cho), has demon blood running in her veins, as we find out that her Hunter mother had a relationship with her Demon father. The circumstances of their relationship are never disclosed. Celine, a former Hunter and Rumi's guardian, avoided talking about Rumi's parentage, disregarding her demon side. Rumi – and the audience – are never given answers about her past. Though Netflix hasn't announced if there will be a sequel, Kang says there's more to the story they wanted to tell – especially when it came to Rumi's heritage as part Hunter and part Demon, and the reason behind Celine's aversion towards demons. KPOP DEMON HUNTERS - Celine (voice by YUNJIN KIM). ©2025 Netflix 'There are different versions [of Rumi's story],' says Kang. Ultimately, we felt like that whole part of the story didn't need to be told here. It was a tricky thing with the story. There are so many questions that are left unanswered.' Some scenes were cut that answered these questions, but it didn't feel like they belonged, as they changed the overall story. There's so much they wanted to add – Rumi's parentage, Celine's background, and the mythology behind Derpy the tiger and Sussie the six-eyed bird. '[Derpy and Sussie] live between these two worlds,' Kang reveals. It's not a Demon. It's not a Hunter, obviously. So, what is it? There's a lot of mysteries and question marks that even I have thought about what that could be. We're definitely thinking about that stuff.' KPOP DEMON HUNTERS - (Right) Rumi (voice by ARDEN CHO). ©2025 Netflix The KPop Demon Hunters creatives, crew, and actors all expressed their interest in a sequel. Kang has many more ideas for her characters and the story. After finishing her film, she did think about a live-action version of the animated film. After watching the new live-action How To Train Your Dragon movie, she mentioned that director Dean DeBlois, who directed the original animated films, did a wonderful job. She thought what it would be like to have a live-action KPop Demon Hunters. She understands that comes with its own challenges. 'I really enjoyed [How To Train Your Dragon],' says Kang. I was sitting in the theater thinking, I wonder if anybody would want to see a live-action KPop Demon Hunters. What would that be like? How would that go?' Until then, Kang is enjoying the response to the film and the music. She's so proud to see a Korean story resonate with everyone. 'I had so many crew members [and people] tell me how much this movie meant to them – and they weren't even Korean,' says Kang. 'They loved learning about our culture and being part of something different. [People have told me], 'I'm watching more K-dramas,' and 'I'm going to Korea,' or 'I'm taking K-pop dance lessons.' It was just so amazing as a director to see people love this movie and fall in love with the culture. I really appreciated the studios for taking a risk on something that is a full Asian cast, too. I couldn't have believed we could make this. It's very surreal.' KPop Demon Hunters is streaming now on Netflix.
