If that was indeed true, and it quite probably is, I would safely say that the thing could still be maybe a year or two away in true industry timelines. Then again, fans could get some teasing in the form of animated trailers or short teasers during Honkai Star Rail livestreams or maybe anniversary events.
That's speculation all the way.
Whether it is a prequel, a side story, or a galaxy-spanning action epic, the supposed collaboration between MAPPA and HSR is the stuff of loving dreams. And even though there may be no concrete details at this point, just the speculation about the possibility for a full-length animated film has electrified the community.
