Tony Blair Lauds 'Telangana Rising 2047' Vision; Govt Signs Intent Letter with Global Policy Think Tank
Blair, who served as UK Prime Minister from 1997 to 2007, now leads the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBIGC), a globally respected policy think tank that supports governments in formulating and executing development strategies. Currently on an official visit to India, Blair discussed ways in which TBIGC could partner with Telangana in advancing its long-term development goals.
During the meeting, CM Revanth Reddy shared the framework of 'Telangana Rising 2047'—a long-term vision document aimed at transforming the state into a model for human-centric, equitable, and futuristic governance by the time India completes 100 years of independence. The Chief Minister highlighted how the plan focuses on rural upliftment, urban development, peri-urban growth, and above all, enhancing human development indicators.
Reddy explained that the initiative prioritizes the socio-economic empowerment of farmers, women, and youth, and incorporates data-driven governance to ensure precise and localized implementation. 'We have developed a micro-plan that addresses specific needs of urban, semi-urban, and rural populations, aimed at ensuring every citizen of Telangana benefits from sustainable growth,' the Chief Minister said.
He informed Blair that the government will formally unveil the detailed plan on December 9, 2025, marking the second anniversary of the current administration. The Chief Minister added that this vision is being crafted not merely as a policy document, but as a mission that defines Telangana's future for the next two decades and beyond.
Expressing his admiration for the vision's scope and inclusivity, Tony Blair praised the Telangana government's developmental direction under Revanth Reddy's leadership. He remarked that such long-term planning, grounded in sustainability and equity, is essential in today's rapidly changing global context.

Bharat Future City – envisioned as a global hub of innovation and technology, integrating smart urban planning and green infrastructure.

Revanth shreds Centre's take on State debts
Hyderabad: Close on the heels of the Union government declaring in Parliament that Telangana's debts in 10 years were Rs 3.5 lakh crore, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has shredded the Centre's official figures on the mounting debt burden on the state, saying: "The previous government left us with mounting debts and arrears of Rs 8,21,652 crore when the people's government assumed power. Out of this, Rs. 6,71,757 crore are debts. Rs 40,154 crore dues are related to the payments of the employees and other schemes. Rs 1,09,740 crore dues are related to SC, ST sub plan, Singareni (Collieries), electricity and other departments," Reddy said. From the total debts, the state government has completed the debt service of Rs 2,20,676 crore, which included Rs 1,32,498 crore principal amount and Rs 88,178 crore interest amount till the date, he said. Speaking after unfurling the National Flag at the historical Golconda Fort here on Friday to mark the Independence Day, he amplified that, despite facing financial burden, his government was working hard to take the state forward from zero to the top level. Revanth Reddy demanded the Centre to approve the BC quota bills passed by the state legislature. He said the state Assembly has passed two bills to provide 42 per cent quota to Backward Classes in local bodies, education and jobs and sent them for presidential assent. "On this occasion, I once again demand the central government to take a quick decision on the pending bills," he said. The Socio-Economic Caste Survey and SC classification conducted in the state were courageous decisions of the state government in the history of India, he underlined. The Chief Minister took a broadside at the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi government on the unbridled encroachment on lakes, ponds and other water bodies in Hyderabad. "In the previous government, people were not serious about the encroachment on lands, ponds and canals due to lack of a credible system. So far, the Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has protected 13 parks and 20 lakes from encroachments. Amberpet Bathukamma Kunta has been restored. The HYDRAA protected government lands worth Rs 30 ,000 crore. Today, the common people are praising HYDRAA. "The opposition parties are using HYDRAA as a weapon for political gains. My appeal to people is to think and compare the past with the current situation when the Hyderabad City received heavy rains". The opposition was trying to create unrest by showing HYDRAA as a failed system, he said. "Today, cities like Bangaluru, Mumbai and Chennai are facing flood problems. Hyderabad should not witness such a plight. To make Hyderabad a safe destination for living, HYDRAA was brought about to curb the encroachment of tanks," he said. Referring to Telangana Rising 2047 document, the Chief Minister said that the document promises a permanent solution to Hyderabad's flooding problem with the Musi Rejuvenation Project. The document also showed how India's Future City, being built to international standards, will be a gateway to the modern world. 'Telangana Rising – 2047 is a plan to radically transform the image of Telangana with the construction of the Gandhi Sarovar project at Bapu Ghat, greenfield highways, dry ports, second phase Metro Rail, radial roads between the Outer and Regional Ring Roads, Warangal and Adilabad airports, Hyderabad-Nagpur, Hyderabad-Bangalore, and Hyderabad-Vijayawada industrial corridors. Our goal is to implement this resolution and make Telangana a key player in the country's progress by 2047. The Telangana Rising – 2047 is a grand visionary document to transform Telangana into a one trillion US dollar economy by 2035 and a 3 trillion UD dollar economy by 2047. This is not just a plan. It is a resolve to make Telangana proud on the world stage.' 79th Independence Day Celebrated with Grandeur in Gadwal
Gadwal: The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the Police Parade Grounds here on Friday. Government Special Representative and Advisor (Sports Affairs) E.P. Jithender Reddy unfurled the National Flag and received the ceremonial guard of honour. Addressing the gathering, Jithender Reddy reiterated the government's commitment to welfare and development, highlighting flagship schemes in agriculture, housing, healthcare, women's welfare, and employment. He said 1,64,357 ration cardholders received 11,163 MT of fine rice free of cost since June, while crop loans worth ₹513.99 crore were waived for 58,113 farmers. Under Indiramma Rythu Bharosa, ₹9,000 crore was credited to farmers' accounts, and a ₹500 bonus per quintal was paid for 95,378 MT of paddy procured in the district. The Aarogyasri health coverage was doubled to ₹10 lakh, enabling ₹27.63 crore worth of medical services to 10,723 beneficiaries. Construction of the new Osmania Hospital (₹2,700 cr) and district medical infrastructure is underway. Under Mahalakshmi, free RTC bus travel for women saved ₹77.26 crore for beneficiaries in Gadwal district. Across the state, 60,000 jobs have been filled via TGPSC. He said the government is working towards 'Telangana Rising 2047,' aiming for a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and $3 trillion by 2047. Cultural performances by school students added colour to the celebrations. Outstanding officials were honoured with commendation certificates. Earlier, District Collector B.M. Santosh unfurled the National Flag at the Integrated District Offices Complex and paid tributes to freedom fighters. The event saw participation from MLAs Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy, Vijayudu, senior police and civil officials, public representatives, and students.

Telangana's high-powered council to propel state's USD 3 trillion vision
HYDERABAD: The Telangana government is set to accelerate its long-term development strategy, Telangana Rising 2047, with its High-Powered Advisory Council meeting scheduled for Saturday, according to senior government officials. The Council comprises a diverse group of eminent economists, technocrats, and public intellectuals, including Nobel laureate Prof Abhijit Banerjee, former RBI governors Dr Raghuram Rajan and Dr Duvvuri Subbarao, Biocon chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen. It is tasked with guiding the formulation of a 22-year roadmap focused on inclusive growth, economic transformation, and sustainability. A senior official in the Chief Minister's Office told TNIE that the state aims to become a $3 trillion economy by promoting high-growth sectors such as startups, MSMEs, tourism, media and exports. Hub for advanced mfg, space tech and R&D Telangana also plans to position itself as a hub for advanced manufacturing, space tech, and R&D while expanding Global Capability Centres (GCCs), he said. A document accessed by TNIE showed that the vision outlines a regionally balanced development model, integrating urban, peri-urban and rural areas through innovation clusters and logistics hubs. Key social objectives include agri-tech adoption, youth skilling, women's economic inclusion, and improved healthcare and nutrition.
