Head of youth hockey organization facing sexual assault charge has died
A well-known local minor hockey league coach and league director charged with sexual assault has died.
Ontario Provincial Police and his lawyer confirmed to CTV News Ryan Wood, 41, passed away this week.
Police say his death is not considered suspicious.
Wood, who owned and ran the Purple Cobras, was charged following an alleged incident in May.

Suspects wanted for stealing car and credit card in east Windsor neighbourhood
Windsor police officers are asking for the public's help identifying two suspects after a vehicle was stolen from an east Windsor neighbourhood and the credit card was used at an Ottawa Street gas station. Shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 6, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 10300 block of Little River Boulevard. Through investigation, officers learned that two suspects entered the victim's vehicle overnight and drove the car to a gas station in the 900 block of Ottawa Street. Police say the suspects also took the victim's wallet from the vehicle and used the stolen credit card for a purchase at the gas station. The first suspect is described as a white male with a heavy build and red, afro-style hair. At the time of the incident he wore a black balaclava, a black and grey sweatshirt, and black pants. The second suspect is described as a white male with a thin build. At the time of the incident, he wore a grey sweatshirt, a mask, and a black cross-body satchel. The stolen vehicle remains outstanding. The vehicle is a 2012 silver Subaru Legacy, bearing Ontario license plate CFAJ838. Investigators remind community members to ensure that their vehicles remain locked, and to never leave keys or valuable items inside their cars. Police investigate suspicious death in Port Alberni, B.C.

(Shutterstock) Mounties on Vancouver Island are investigating the suspicious death of a man who was found suffering from serious injuries after an apparent assault over the weekend. A statement Tuesday says the Port Alberni RCMP were called to a report of an assault near the intersection of Johnston Road and Victoria Quay at 12:42 a.m. Sunday. Police found the victim at the scene. He was transported to hospital where he died of his injuries despite life-saving efforts, according to the statement. Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the man's death. 'Based on the initial information, this death is being treated as suspicious,' the statement said. 'The deceased has been identified, however their name is not being released at this time.' OPP investigating fatal motorcycle crash near Thunder Bay

The collision took place at approximately 6:43 a.m. on Monday at the intersection of Highway 11-17 and Mapleward Road. The driver of the motorcycle, a 17-year-old male from Kakabeka Falls, was transported to hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Road closure and reopening Following the collision, the highway was closed in all directions as police conducted their investigation. It reopened shortly before 2 p.m. the same day, Aug. 11. 'The investigation is ongoing,' police said in a news release Tuesday. Authorities are urging anyone with information or dash camera footage related to the incident to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
