UN Chief Urges Israel to Halt Military Takeover of Gaza, Warns of Catastrophic Consequences

Nada Mustafa UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for an end to Israel's plan for a military takeover of the Gaza Strip, stressing that the Israeli government's decision to 'take control of Gaza City' represents a dangerous escalation and risks worsening the already catastrophic consequences for millions of Palestinians. He warned that it could further endanger more lives, including those of the remaining hostages. According to the United Nations Information Centre, Guterres noted that Palestinians in Gaza continue to endure a humanitarian catastrophe of shocking proportions. He cautioned that this additional escalation would lead to further forced displacement, killings, and massive destruction, compounding the unimaginable suffering of the Palestinian population in Gaza. The Secretary-General renewed his urgent call for a permanent ceasefire, unimpeded humanitarian access across Gaza, and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani

Egypt's Shosha Kamal Prints Battles on Scarves in Ramses Collection

Egyptian designer Shosha Kamal has just transformed the Battle of Qadesh into silk scarves. Aug 10, 2025 What does the world's first recorded peace treaty have to do with Egyptian designer Shosha Kamal's latest scarf collection? Her new silk accessories pay homage to the Battle of Qadesh under Ramses the Great, a conflict immortalised in history books around the world. True to Kamal's mission, the collection's patterns stand at the intersection of Egyptian heritage and contemporary fashion. Fought in 1275 BCE, the Battle of Qadesh was one of the largest chariot battles in history - and now, its story can be worn around your neck in one of two designs. In the Qadesh Silk Scarf, Ramses the Great charges forward in a horse-drawn chariot, baby-blue bow in hand, framed by layered motifs. The palette - gold threaded with light green - carries into the Naerin Silk Scarf, which honours the soldiers who fought alongside him. Storytelling through design is Kamal's signature, and it has defined her award-winning art, fashion, and culture house. In 2018, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi presented her Scarab Beetle Chair to Melania Trump - a gold stool symbolising transformation and rebirth, and one of the most distinctive gifts ever given to the White House.
