Bears, Kyler Gordon agree to 3-year, extension, making him highest-paid CB: Sources
The Chicago Bears agreed to a three-year contract extension with nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon, league sources said. The first draft pick of general manager Ryan Poles' tenure, Gordon is under contract thru 2028.
Last season, Gordon played in 15 games with 13 starts and had five passes defensed, four tackles for loss and three fumble recoveries. In 13 games in 2023, he had two picks and six passes defensed. He has established himself as one of the game's best slot corners, and this contract is paying him that way.

As first reported by ESPN, the $40 million deal with $31.25 million guaranteed makes Gordon the highest-paid slot cornerback.
Gordon, nicknamed 'Spider-Man,' began his career as a full-time corner, playing outside in base defense and then inside in the nickel. The Bears shifted him to a full-time nickel corner, and that paid dividends, as he has consistently made big plays against the run and pass.
Before an injury, Gordon had five tackles for two yards or less in London last season, including one behind the line of scrimmage. His four 'run stuffs' for zero yards tied for second among all corners in football, per TruMedia.
When coach Ben Johnson was hired, one of the first Bears players he mentioned was Gordon, whom he called 'a phenomenal nickel.' At the league meetings two weeks ago in Florida, Poles said a Gordon extension was a priority.
'I know Kyler is a guy that we want to be part of this moving forward,' he said.
Gordon was voted the Bears' Ed Block Courage Award winner for this past season. While he has yet to put together a full season because of injuries, none have been major, and when he's been on the field, he's been very effective.
'Kyler Gordon is an outstanding nickel player,' new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said in January. 'I have a vision for how we can utilize him.'

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Jim Irsay did everything possible to prepare his three daughters for taking over his beloved Indianapolis Colts. Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt and Kalen Jackson now want to continue their late father's legacy by chasing another Super Bowl trophy. 'His greatest love beyond his family was having the blessing to be a steward for the Indianapolis Colts,' Irsay-Gordon said. 'It's our privilege and honor to share this same responsibility and opportunity today.' The sisters spoke at a news conference Tuesday, a day after the Colts announced the ownership transition featuring Irsay-Gordon as the team's CEO with Foyt as executive vice president and Jackson chief brand officer. Irsay-Gordon said their father's 'foremost wish' was to keep the Colts in the family. He died last month at age 65. He had long battled issues of health and addiction and had been far less visible following a fall at his home in December 2023. 'We've spent decades in our family business learning every aspect of our organization under our dad's leadership,' Irsay-Gordon said. 'It was sometimes trial by fire, and I'm forever grateful for the invaluable experience that I've gained. It has prepared me and my sisters for moments like today." Irsay started working in the Colts' equipment room and took over as owner when his father Robert Irsay died in 1997. Irsay-Gordon said she had to take a different path as a woman, interning in departments like marketing, administration and football operations. She said their father was so proud to see each of his daughters find her own niche in the franchise. Foyt recalled countless training camps along with answering telephones at the front desk and working in marketing before working for the NFL in London. She returned to the Colts' front office in 2007 and said she and her sisters all have the same horseshoe tattoo as their father symbolizing the franchise as family. 'We've been around the NFL and the team a long time,' Foyt said. 'We've grown up here in Indy and the city. We just know the value of our commitment to the team and the city of Indianapolis is just as important as when he was there." The Irsay sisters had held the title of owner since 2012 when they were named vice chairs. Irsay-Gordon has represented the Colts at various NFL meetings since 2004. Jackson has been leading the family's initiative to raise awareness of mental health. Jackson called Tuesday 'extremely bittersweet' as she and her sisters fulfill possibly their father's biggest dream in taking over the Colts. She said Irsay knew he wouldn't be able to see this moment in person, but that no decision will be made without them hearing his voice in the back of their minds. ___

Bryson DeChambeau returns to defend U.S. Open title as golf's YouTube king
OAKMONT, Pa. — Bryson DeChambeau returns to the 2025 U.S. Open as the defending champion and golf's YouTube king, at least among the pro ranks. From his 2 million YouTube fans watching him try to "Break 50" with the likes of Donald Trump, various influencers and athletes to joining Johnson Wagner as he tried to reproduce his remarkable bunker shot at 18 at Pinehurst No. 2 during Golf Channel's "Live From," people love DeChambeau's content creation. The latest example was on display at Oakmont, site of this week's 125th U.S. Open, when DeChambeau showed up for a practice round on May 31 and filmed every shot. It was riveting stuff that no other player had done before. 'He's done a heck of a job using social media channels to connect with viewers, connect with golfers, and show his true personality because I think he probably didn't do a great job of that early on in his career,' NBC's Kevin Kisner said. ESPN's Scott Van Pelt took his analysis of DeChambeau's reboot as a YouTube star – he's got nearly 3 million Instagram followers and another 2 million on TikTok, too – one step further. 'I think he's now kind of figured out where he wants to be. He's almost reinvented himself in some ways,' he said. 'He's grown as a human, it seems to me. Last year he came and sat down in the Butler Cabin with me on Thursday and Friday, and he's been sort of this — he's played very different characters in a movie. It's almost like he's been many different versions of himself. 'And when he sat and visited with me last year, I just remarked to a number of people, he just seems like a different guy. He seems more at ease with himself. I don't know if it's the tour he plays, I don't know if it's just part of growing up, which is part of all of our lives, but he seemed comfortable, entirely comfortable with himself.' DeChambeau, 31, finally is becoming comfortable in his own skin, and YouTube has helped him let his guard down, he said, 'showing the fans a side of me that was locked up for so long.' 'What's funny is as much as my guard has been let down, I feel like I'm more strategic in how I deliver things and how I give perspective on things. Before, I was pretty up front and would just say things the way I wanted to whenever I wanted to,' he explained. 'Now it's more strategic in the way I do it and deliver it because I think there's a lot of good that can come from that.' DeChambeau has said he's taken a page out of the playbook of MrBeast, whose viral content are the most-watched videos on YouTube. Asked whether any of his peers have turned to him for advice on how to launch a YouTube channel, DeChambeau highlighted Phil Mickelson. Lefty said he'd always seen what he called the playful, fun, intelligent and interesting side of DeChambeau. 'He's able to showcase that and not have who he is be filtered by a middle person,' Mickelson said. 'He controls what content he puts out there and what he wants to shoot and so forth. So his personality comes out. It's been remarkable to see the evolution of it and the way the public has responded to him because he's always been like that. It just hasn't been able to be noticed, I guess, properly.' In discussing the tips he has passed along to Mickelson, DeChambeau said he reads the comments section and tries to give the people what they want. 'We've grown our channel to over 2 million followers now and couldn't be more thankful, and it's literally by listening to the comments section, by looking at the comments and seeing what they want,' he said. I'm learning how to become a little bit more entertaining,' he said.
