Smuggling bids foiled Narcotics, exotic wildlife, gold worth over Rs 11 cr seized in a day at Mumbai airport
According to Customs officials, they acted on specific intelligence and intercepted an Indian national who arrived from Bangkok. A thorough examination of the passenger's checked-in baggage revealed 9.662 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana, a high-grade variant of cannabis, with an estimated value of Rs 9.662 crore in the illicit market. The passenger was arrested under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
In another incident, a passenger from Bangkok was arrested for carrying several exotic and non-native species — both alive and deceased — concealed in his bag. The recovery included raccoons (Procyon Lotor) one alive, 3 dead; black fox squirrels (Sciurus niger) 3 dead, and green iguanas 29 alive, 8 dead. The live animals were handed over to airline staff for deportation to their country of origin. Legal proceedings were initiated against the arrested passenger under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and the Customs Act, 1962.
In other two separate cases, two passengers from Dubai were found smuggling 24 KT gold in dust form hidden in wax and as small gold pieces weighing a total of 1.650 kg and valued at Rs 1.49 crore. The gold was hidden in their body cavities and inner pockets. Both were arrested under the Customs Act, 1962.

Brajabashi said he had never left Cooch Behar in his life. According to the lawyer, Assam govt has demanded proof of his name on the voter list since he became an eligible voter but neither the district nor state administration have been able to provide the documents. On learning of the incident, minister Guha, who is also the Dinhata MLA, said, "Brajabashi is not only an Indian citizen but also a scheduled caste citizen. On what grounds did the SP of Kamrup district (in Assam) send an NRC-related letter to a citizen of Dinhata in Cooch Behar. This will not be tolerated here." 1 2 Jaipur: Mukesh Kumar , chairman and managing director of Debock Industries Limited, contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Tonk-Sawai Madhopur seat on a Shiv Sena ticket. During his campaign, he enlisted Rakhi Sawant as a star campaigner, but he only received 4,600 votes and secured seventh place. This was revealed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) which concluded its raids at the Jaipur-based company. Mukesh also introduced himself as Mukesh Manveer Singh in business circles of Rajasthan and other parts. ED officials said that there could be a possibility that Mukesh aimed to conceal his financial scams exceeding Rs 100 crore by entering politics. "Presently, we are only investigating Rs 100 crore scam, though we are aware of some of his previous cheating cases lodged at various police stations in Jaipur." TOI obtained a copy of the 2019 Tonk-Sawai Madhopur election results in which Kumar received 4,600 votes and lost his security deposit. During that time, Kumar invited Rakhi Sawant as a campaigner and organised a vehicle rally at Sawai Madhopur too. Regarding his name, the ED authorities said that it is not clear why he was changing his name from Mukesh Kumar to Mukesh Manveer Singh. "Many times, people use this trick to avoid their debts. He was introducing himself as Mukesh Manveer Singh in the business circles of Jaipur and other parts of Rajasthan," the officer said. Meanwhile, ED raids resulted in the seizure of Rs 78 lakh, four luxury vehicles, and property papers as proceeds of the Rs 100 crore scam. "A few other things are on our radar. A few properties at Chaksu and Tonk could also be the proceeds of crime. We will urge people not to invest in this group or its properties," the officer said.

Man fakes robbery after losing 1.6L in online betting, arrested
1 2 3 Jaipur: A 32-year-old man was arrested Sunday for staging a fake robbery to recover money he lost in online gambling. The accused, Siyaram Meena, called the police control room claiming he was assaulted and robbed of Rs 2 lakh by men in two vehicles in the Nai Ki Thadi area under Jaysinghpura Khor police station. The incident was reported on July 5. Meena alleged that his motorcycle was stopped and a bag containing cash was snatched. SHO Mukesh Kumar and his team reached the spot to investigate. However, no signs of a scuffle or robbery were found, and eyewitness accounts contradicted Meena's statement. CCTV footage showed him riding with the bag and later without it, raising suspicion and leading to his arrest. When questioned about the cash, Meena claimed he was carrying two bundles of Rs 500 notes. Officers said that Rs 2 lakh would require four such bundles, exposing his lack of preparation in fabricating the lie. Confronted with mounting evidence, Meena broke down and confessed. He admitted that he lost Rs 1.60 lakh in online gambling through a betting ID taken from his friend Mohit. Fearing pressure and embarrassment, he deleted the betting app from his phone and invented the robbery to avoid repayment. The accused also provided false vehicle numbers to mislead investigators. Police later discovered that the so-called crime scene and the alleged suspects were all figments of Meena's imagination. The case has been registered under sections pertaining to furnishing false information to the police. Officers said Meena's addiction to gambling led him down the path of deceit and legal trouble. Police have warned the public against misusing emergency services and assured that stern action will be taken against those attempting to divert police resources with fake reports.
