ICN Launches $ICNT, latest investment signals $470 million valuation
Impossible Cloud Network (ICN) – a decentralized cloud services provider– is today announcing the launch of its $ICNT token through Tier 1 centralized exchanges Bybit, Binance, Kraken, Gate.io, Bitget, and more.
The token launch follows a recently announced investment (valuation: $470 million) from NGP Capital, a deep tech fund that backed Xiaomi and Helium.
ICN is the first decentralized cloud provider to match and surpass centralized hyperscalers in latency, availability, and performance. Its service is live and operating a fully open, multi-service, permissionless, and composable cloud infrastructure that integrates storage, compute, and networking at scale.
The token listing comes just weeks after ICN attracted a substantial valuation of $470 million from Nokia-backed investor NGP Capital, which joined 1kx, No Limit Holdings, Protocol VC, HV Capital, and more in investing a total of $34 million into ICN.
The Switzerland-based cloud network has substantial traction inside its ecosystem, handling over 23,000 cloud requests per second from its 1,000+ enterprise customers. This makes ICN one of the biggest revenue-generating decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePINs) in the industry and places it in pole position to win the AI infrastructure race.
ICN's CEO and co-founder is Kai Wawrzinek, a seasoned, billion-dollar company founder who successfully led his project, Goodgame Studios, to NASDAQ unicorn status in 2017.
Commenting on the launch of $ICNT, Wawrzinek says: 'As a decentralized cloud provider, ICN is successful because it meets a genuine, growing need. ICN will win the decentralized infrastructure race — because we control the data layer. Once compute goes live, we'll unbundle the internet.'$ICNT will play a pivotal role in ICN's ecosystem, allowing anyone to participate in the network's growth by earning rewards from HyperNodes. $ICNT is used both for provisioning hardware capacity and for staking to secure cloud workloads. This ties the token to real-world infrastructure and the strong and growing demand that ICN's ecosystem is experiencing.
ICN is riding a confluence of multiple strong tailwinds in the cloud industry. These include incredible demand for AI, associated hardware shortages, and an increasingly urgent need for sovereign cloud solutions apart from those offered by US hyperscalers.
Combined, these drivers are calling for a new foundational layer for the next generation of the internet that can challenge the dominance of centralized tech giants – a layer ICN is pioneering.

Asian markets mixed as Trump warns tariff letters to be sent soon
HONG KONG: Asian investors trod cautiously on Friday (July 4) as Donald Trump's deadline to avert his steep tariffs approached, with the US president saying he planned to start sending letters informing trading partners of their rates. Uncertainty leading up to next week's cut-off tempered the positive lead from another record on Wall Street, where a forecast-busting US jobs report soothed worries about the world's top economy. Governments around the world have fought to hammer out deals with Washington ahead of the July 9 deadline, set after Trump unveiled a blitz of levies on his "Liberation Day" in early April. He and his top officials have said several were in the pipeline, but only Britain and Vietnam have signed pacts while China has agreed to a framework for it and the United States to slash tit-for-tat tolls and ship certain products. While negotiators continue to seek ways to avert the worst of the White House's measures, Trump warned Thursday he would soon be issuing his messages to capitals. "My inclination is to send a letter out and say what tariff they're going to be paying," he told reporters. "It's just much easier." He added: "We're going to be sending some letters out, starting probably tomorrow, maybe ten a day to various countries saying what they're going to pay to do business with the US." The prospect that trading partners from Japan and South Korea to India and Taiwan could be hit with stiff tariffs fuelled fresh worries about the global economy. Tokyo edged up with Shanghai, Sydney, Wellington and Jakarta but Hong Kong, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei and Manila fell. Traders were unable to pick up the baton from their New York colleagues, who sent the S&P 500 and Nasdaq to more record closes ahead of the Independence Day break. Those gains followed data showing the US economy topped expectations to add 147,000 jobs in June while unemployment dipped to 4.1 per cent from 4.2 per cent, which was also better than estimated. The reading was taken as a sign the labour market remained in rude health despite warnings about the impact of Trump's tariffs. It also dented hopes that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates at its next meeting this month, with bets now on two reductions before the end of the year - the first likely in September. However, analysts suggested that all was not what it seemed, pointing to softness in the private sector. "We think that private-sector hiring has stalled, and we may see sporadic layoffs in some industries in the coming months," warned analysts at MUFG. "Despite the unemployment rate having fallen... the flow of potential workers that remained out of the labour force rose sharply in June (and over 750,000 have dropped out of the labor force over the past two months), further highlighting the weak hiring environment. "We continue to view labour demand as being fundamentally weak relative to the past several years." The passage of Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill" also left investors in a quandary as they weighed the extension of huge tax and spending cuts with forecasts that it will add around US$3 trillion to the already ballooning national debt. Still, it included a US$5 trillion increase in the debt limit, removing the risk the country could default on its bond payments. - AFP

Australia's Goodman Group creates US$2.7 billion group to invest in Hong Kong data centres
SYDNEY: Australia's Goodman Group will establish a US$2.7 billion investment consortium with international pension funds and investors to develop data centre businesses across Hong Kong, the company said on Friday. The industrial property group said it had joined forces with Dutch investors PGGM and APG, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, and CBRE Investment Management's Indirect Private Real Estate Strategies. It said an unnamed Middle Eastern investor was also involved. Goodman will be a 20 per cent cornerstone investor in the partnership, it said in a statement. The Sydney-based company's shares rose 1 per cent on Friday to A$35.08, outpacing a flat S&P/ASX200. The stock is trading close to a five-month high. The group will own four existing Hong Kong data centres held by Goodman in an industrial partnership and two centres currently being developed. Goodman's portfolio accounts for approximately 30 per cent of Hong Kong's data centre market by power capacity, it said. Goodman has similar data centre partnerships in Japan and Europe. It said the Japanese partnership will have US$1.1 billion in assets by the end of 2025. Goodman has a A$10 billion (US$6.57 billion) industrial property portfolio in Hong Kong, part of which could be converted to data centres in the future, Chief Executive Greg Goodman said. "There's opportunities in the industrial portfolio. We have to basically redevelop them into data centres and they would then come into this partnership for development," Goodman told Reuters in a telephone interview. "There's a lot of inquiry now coming out of China, you've seen a big push in artificial intelligence in China. China is on a big growth path in regard to digital evolution and the whole AI sector. So you can expect a lot of Chinese operators also very interested in Hong Kong."
