Student of Kendra Vidyalaya Gomtinagar, Visharad said, "Spinal lesions are difficult to detect in X-rays with human eyes and often require an MRI or CT scan. Since there are not many diagnostic centres equipped with MRI and CT scan in rural and semi-urban areas, my AI model prototype can detect lesions in the spine from X-ray images and it's highly accurate."
Indranagar resident and son of retired sergeant, the tech-savvy teenager said, "The model has been designed to target seven types of lesions including osteophytes, disc space narrowing, surgical implant, foraminal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, vertebral collapse."
Visharad started coding at the age of 10, while his elder sister Priya Upadhyay was pursuing her master's in computer application. "I was inspired by my elder sister. I spend considerable time coding and often get checked by my family to focus on the Class X board, but I'm able to manage it."
"After school, I want to join a university which can help me learn more about computer science and AI," he added. Visharad's father Dinesh Kumar Upadhyay now practices law after retiring from IAF, while mother Alka Upadhyay is a retired teacher.

New 2025 Hyundai Venue To Launch On 24th October? Check What We Know So Far

Upcoming 2025 Hyundai Venue: Hyundai is gearing up to launch a new model in India on October 24, 2025. However, the company hasn't officially confirmed the name of the vehicle yet, but it is speculated to be the next-generation Hyundai Venue. It is expected to bring a fresh design and updated features, while keeping the current engine setup. So far, several spy shots and leaked videos have given us a glimpse of what's coming. The 2025 Venue will still carry its boxy SUV shape, but with major updates. Expect a revised rectangular front grille, new split headlamps, and a slightly tweaked bumper. Some spy images also hint at front parking sensors and an ADAS system. It might get newly designed 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, chunkier wheel arch cladding, updated roof rails and wing mirrors, and a longer rear spoiler, adding to its new look. The connected tail-lamps from the current model are likely to continue. Interior And Features (Expected) While there are no confirmed images of the cabin yet, the new Venue is likely to borrow a few premium touches from its bigger siblings, the Creta and Alcazar. Some expected features include a larger touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and ADAS safety tech. Engine Options Under the hood, nothing is expected to change. The 2025 Venue might continue with the same three engine options: -- 1.0L turbo petrol (120 bhp) -- 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol (83 bhp) -- 1.5L turbo diesel (100 bhp) Gearbox options will also likely remain the same, including 5-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 7-speed DCT, and 6-speed torque converter units, depending on the engine. The current Hyundai Venue is priced between Rs 7.94 lakh and Rs 13.62 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). With the added features and updated design, the new Venue is likely to be a little more expensive than the current model.

Goa govt launches digital literacy scheme for women in rural areas

Porvorim, Aug 8 (PTI) Women in rural areas of Goa will now receive training on the use of smartphones and online platforms under the state government's digital literacy scheme, an official said on Friday. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, along with state Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Minister Rohan Khaunte, formally launched the Mahila Digital Sashaktikaran Yojana at the PAC Hall Secretariat in Porvorim on Thursday. 'Through this scheme, we are taking digital literacy to women in rural areas, ensuring they are equipped with the confidence and skills to navigate today's digital world," Sawant said. The scheme, open to Goan women aged 18 years and above with a minimum 15 years residence in the state, will provide training on smartphone use, access to online platforms and navigation of government services. Sessions will be conducted through empanelled IT knowledge centres (ITKCs), common service centres (CSCs) and village-level entrepreneurs (VLEs) at local venues, including panchayat halls, schools and community spaces, the chief minister said. He said under the programme, Rs 500 per participant will be allocated for the training or awareness module, of which 80 per cent will go to the ITKC, CSC or CSC-VLE and 20 per cent to the Information Technology Goa. An additional Rs 100 per person will be provided as infrastructure cost for sessions held at public venues, he said. Implemented by the Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd, the scheme will remain in force for three years from the date of notification. Minister Khaunte said the initiative aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 by empowering women from villages with digital skills that open up pathways for income generation and participation in the digital economy. Over Rs 1,607 crore released for digital health infrastructure at PGIMER, Chandigarh in 5 years: Centre

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare revealed Friday that over Rs 1,607 crore was allocated and released for digital health infrastructure at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, during the last five years. The government's response came in the wake of a question raised by MP Manish Tewari in Parliament on critical issues and developments in digital infrastructure at the institute. The fund, released under 'Grants for Creation of Capital Assets', was incrementally increased to Rs 350 crore during 2024-25, the Centre stated. Despite these investments, Tewari's query appeared to reveal infrastructural gaps affecting patient care, notably in core facilities and digital systems upgrades. An annexure presented to Parliament also listed the medical equipment procured by PGIMER since 2020. Out of 1,096 items procured for various PGIMER departments, 147 remain non-operational or underutilised, including a significant number of items in neurosurgery and paediatrics. The government acknowledged that 93 per cent of civil works for critical centres — including the Mother and Child Care Centre — are complete but cited delays due to building plan revisions, pandemic-related disruptions, and shifting of service blocks for safety compliance. To address these challenges, approvals have been granted for an Advanced Neurosciences Centre and a Critical Care Block under the PM-ABHIM scheme. Moreover, digital upgrades for PGIMER, such as the transition to Hospital Information System (HIS) 2.0 and the establishment of satellite centres in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, are underway. MP Tewari emphasised the urgent need for a dedicated PGIMER facility for Chandigarh residents, given the massive patient footfall from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, in addition to local residents. Referring to recent developments in land allocation for the PGIMER extension in Sarangpur, he urged the Centre to consider a Chandigarh-exclusive facility to fulfil the city's unique healthcare requirements—a proposal he intends to pursue further with Union Minister of Health J P Nadda. Tewari also called for targeted expansions and modernisations at the leading medical institute to ensure world-class healthcare for Chandigarh residents.
