The New York Mets entered the All-Star break trailing the Philadelphia Phillies by a half-game for the National League East and have many pitchers on the injured list for various amounts of time. According to Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Mets are among several teams that have looked into adding veteran reliever David Robertson.

Much like veteran starter Lance Lynn, Robertson did not receive a contract in the offseason. Unlike Lynn, Robertson did not opt for retirement and instead has continued to throw in hopes of earning a chance in the big leagues once again.
Robertson pitched last season with the Texas Rangers, appearing in 68 games, posting a 3.00 ERA. Robertson turned 40 years old in April and is on the older end of the league, but was serviceable last year and could be again for a contender down the stretch.
The Mets make sense to be interested, as they have suffered more than their fair share of pitching injuries this year. The Mets have lost three total pitchers to season-ending injuries this season, and one late last season, who is missing all of this year.
Robertson would give veteran depth to the New York bullpen, and if he continues pitching the way he did last season, another high-leverage arm in the bag for the Mets.
With the trade deadline fast approaching, if the Mets do not like the market for relief pitchers, Robertson could be an alternate route to fill their needs.

How to watch this weekend's Brewers at Dodgers series: NL playoff hopefuls meet in Los Angeles

The Milwaukee Brewers emerge from this week's All-Star break as the National League's hottest outfit, having won seven straight games and grooving atop the mound. Pat Murphy's surging Brew Crew now gets a test in Chavez Ravine, where the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers roll out their big-name bats. Despite a mammoth payroll and defending champion status, Dave Roberts finds his Dodgers at just 5-7 through July's first dozen games. Who had the Brewers with a better run differential than the Dodgers at this point in the summer? Milwaukee has thrown out a largely competitive group throughout the last decade, but it hasn't advanced past the NLDS since 2018. This year's insurgent installment might have the juice to push for it, entering the weekend series only one game behind the dominant Chicago Cubs for a division lead. The Brewers are an excellent 25-12 since the start of June, though they're still an average team away from Wisconsin (23-23, despite outscoring their hosts by 46 runs). Advertisement In the outfield, dogged vet Christian Yelich is on pace for a 30-homer, 20-steal effort in his age-33 season, while 21-year-old Jackson Chourio is projected for a 27-and-27 line. Milwaukee is aggressive on the base paths, coming in at No. 2 in stolen bases across MLB. The Brewers play a fun and swaggering style of baseball, but the Dodgers tend to devour upstart visitors in their own park. L.A. opens this series 33-17 at home. The reigning World Series trophy lifters are sputtering out to a midsummer lull, though, and they were just blown out by Milwaukee in a three-game sweep July 7-9. Shohei Ohtani had a .300/.462/.600 slash line in those losses, but Freddie Freeman slugged a paltry .091, and Mookie Betts fell further to .083. Slump or not, underestimating the offense is deeply unwise. The Dodgers are still second in MLB in home runs, RBIs and OBP, and they've crossed home plate more than anyone in the league. Friday's opening game pits solid RHP Quinn Priester (7-2, 3.55 ERA) against recovering right-hander Tyler Glasnow. The 31-year-old Californian returned from the 60-day IL, where he was shelved with shoulder inflammation, to hurl five innings (one unearned run, three walks and five strikeouts) in that previous Brewers series. The Saturday draw is elite pitch placer and righty ace Freddy Peralta (11-4, 2.66 ERA) versus Emmet Sheehan (1-0, 2.03 ERA), who returned last month from Tommy John surgery. Sunday's conclusion offers a pair of ultra-experienced lefties in José Quintana (6-3, 3.28) and Clayton Kershaw (4-1, 3.38 ERA). Together, these two have put together 32 Major League campaigns. Quintana's done so with eight different teams; Kershaw is, of course, a Dodger lifer. Caitlin Clark misses early All-Star events but teammates say her presence will be felt

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has been absent from the early WNBA All-Star Game festivities, not participating in the orange carpet on Thursday night or media availability on Friday morning. The WNBA announced on Thursday that Clark would not play in the All-Star Game on Saturday (8 p.m. ET, ABC) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse because of a right groin injury sustained against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. Fever teammate Kelsey Mitchell said even without Clark on the court, her presence will still be felt. "Caitlin is going to be Caitlin guys, trust me." Mitchell said Friday morning. "She is going to be coaching. You will definitely see the competitive nature. But her body deserves what it deserves, from a break standpoint. "This weekend will still be about what her and other individuals have brought to this league."Clark, who is a team captain, was supposed to participate in the 3-point contest at 8 p.m. ET Friday night. She has been replaced by Fever teammate Lexie Hull. Her replacement for the All-Star Game is Washington Mystics guard Brittney Sykes. Team Clark coach Sandy Brondello said she plans to let Clark do as much coaching as she wishes. "Obviously, it's unfortunate about Caitlin not being in this game," Brondello said Friday. "But she is still going to have a great impact on this team. I will give the coaching hat to her and much as she wants. We will play around with it a little and have fun. "You have seen it with the Fever, she's been very active on the sideline when she wasn't playing, so we will utilize that as well." Fever teammate Aliyah Boston said they are all supporting Clark, who has missed time this season with injuries to her left quad, left groin and now her right groin. She has missed 11 of the Fever's 23 games. "Just continuing to be in her corner and cheering her on," Boston said. "The biggest thing as a player and a competitor, it's super hard when you have to sit out. "(She knows) we got your back, take your time, but we got you." Team Clark's Sabrina Ionescu said she has been sharing her experience with Clark. The New York Liberty guard fought through her share of injuries during her sophomore season in the league. "The second year, I had three to four soft tissue injuries that I was dealing with," Ionescu said Friday. "You look back and it is kind of a blessing in disguise. You are able to learn and grow and understand the game more. It is all part of your journey."
