Xi Jinping and Congolese President Send Congratulatory Messages to FOCAC Ministerial Meeting

Nada Mustafa
On June 11, 2025, President Xi Jinping and President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso respectively sent congratulatory letters to the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), and extended warm congratulations to the convening of the meeting.
Xi Jinping pointed out that since its establishment 25 years ago, the FOCAC has strongly driven the flourishing development of China-Africa cooperation and become a model for solidarity and cooperation in the Global South. Xi Jinping recalled that in September last year, at the FOCAC Beijing Summit, he and African leaders unanimously agreed to jointly advance modernization that is just and equitable, open and win-win and eco-friendly, puts the people first, features diversity and inclusiveness, and is underpinned by peace and security, and to take ten partnership actions, steering China-Africa relations into a new stage of building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era. Thanks to the concerted efforts of both sides, the implementation of the outcomes of the Summit has already yielded a number of encouraging early harvests. The two sides have also reached a consensus on organizing the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges in 2026. Xi Jinping expressed the belief that this will inject new vitality into China-Africa friendly cooperation.
Xi Jinping emphasized that the current international landscape is marked by intertwined changes and turbulence. China remains committed to creating new opportunities for the world through the new achievements in Chinese modernization, and providing new momentum for Africa and other Global South partners through China's big market. Through the entry into agreements on economic partnership for shared development, China implements zero-tariff measures of granting 53 African countries having diplomatic relations with China zero-tariff treatment for 100 percent tariff lines, and facilitates greater access for exports from Africa's least developed countries to China. China is ready to work with the African side to further implement the ten partnership actions, strengthen cooperation in key areas such as green industries, e-commerce and payment, science and technology, and artificial intelligence, deepen cooperation in such fields as security, finance, and the rule of law, and jointly promote high-quality development of China-Africa cooperation.
Xi Jinping pointed out that openness and cooperation are the right path forward, and mutual benefit is the shared aspiration of the people. Joint efforts by China and Africa to advance modernization will strongly promote solidarity and cooperation in the Global South and open up brighter prospects for the cause of peace and development around the world. He expressed hope that both sides will continue to advance the implementation of the outcomes of the Summit with solid efforts, carefully plan the future development of the FOCAC, and work hand in hand to build an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era, contributing the strength of China and Africa to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
In his congratulatory letter, President Denis Sassou Nguesso said that since the convening of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, Africa-China strategic and practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results. This Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators coincides with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the FOCAC. He pledged to make all-out efforts and work unwaveringly with President Xi Jinping to make greater progress in building an Africa-China community with a shared future and to enhance the well-being of the people on both sides. As the African co-chair of the FOCAC, the Republic of the Congo is will work with China and other Global South countries to strengthen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, jointly build a multipolar world free from unilateralism and protectionism, and usher in a new era of universally beneficial and inclusive globalization.

OPEN// Illusion of stability through excessive use of force not to bring security to Israel

CAIRO, June 13 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty warned on Friday that 'the illusion of achieving security and stability through the excessive use of force is fundamentally flawed and will not bring security and stability to Israel.' His remarks came during a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Cairo following high-level talks between the two officials. In response to a question about the recent Israeli strikes on Iran and efforts to contain the fallout, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's firm stance against escalation. 'Egypt has condemned the unjustified Israeli aggression on Iran, which only adds fuel to the fire in an already volatile region,' he said. He stressed Egypt's rejection of military solutions, reaffirming support for the ongoing US-Iranian negotiation track, in which Egypt is directly engaged through active channels with Washington, Tehran, and Muscat. Abdelatty noted that Cairo is conducting intense diplomatic engagements to prevent the region from sliding into full-scale war. The minister also revealed recent communications with the foreign ministers of Jordan and Qatar, and the vice president of Palestine, all aimed at coordinating regional de-escalation efforts. 'The region already faces enough challenges. There is no benefit in a cycle of action and reaction,' he warned. Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's commitment to fostering a stable and attractive investment climate. He highlighted recent legislative reforms that have removed bureaucratic barriers and created comprehensive guarantees for foreign investors, particularly German businesses. 'There is a favorable environment for German companies to expand their footprint in Egypt. We invite more German firms to take advantage of Egypt's strategic position as a gateway to African and Middle Eastern markets,' Abdelatty said. He also pointed out broad agreement among regional and international partners on upholding the sovereignty of states and preventing nuclear proliferation. Egypt, he stressed, rejects nuclear armament by any country, including both Israel and Iran, and urges full compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Addressing the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, the minister denounced Israel's policies of deliberate starvation and medical blockade as 'inhumane and beyond the bounds of reason.' He called on countries with close ties to Israel, including Germany, to use their influence to push for an end to such policies. 'The current double standards undermine faith in international law and the UN system,' he said, urging Germany to align more visibly with international humanitarian and legal norms. For his part, Wadephul acknowledged the escalating military situation and announced changes to his regional visit plans, including skipping Jordan due to developments. He expressed hope for a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, encouraging Hamas to release hostages and commending Egypt's efforts in this regard. Wadephul reiterated Germany's commitment to the two-state solution as the only path toward sustainable peace. "Germany remains ready to play an active role in building a viable Palestinian state, as it has in the past.' Abdelatty asserted that regional peace hinges on resolving the Palestinian issue and recognizing a sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. 'No party should have veto power over the rights of the Palestinian people. Without justice for Palestine, there will be no security or stability in the region,' he stressed. Egypt, he added, continues to mobilize international support for recognition of Palestinian statehood and to restore hope amid despair. (MENA) M S H/R G E

Egypt Seeks to Elevate Ties with Germany to Strategic Partnership

Taarek Refaat Egypt is looking to upgrade its bilateral relationship with Germany to the level of a strategic partnership, Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati announced Friday during high-level talks in Cairo with his German counterpart Johann Wadephul. Speaking at a joint press conference, Abdel Ati described Egyptian-German relations as 'exemplary and extremely important,' highlighting significant progress in cooperation across multiple sectors in recent years. He noted that the German foreign minister's decision to begin his regional tour in Cairo reflects the strength and depth of the countries' ties. During the talks, both ministers led expanded delegations to discuss bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and international issues of mutual concern — with particular attention given to the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip. The minister emphasized Egypt's growing economic ties with Germany, underscoring the contributions of more than 1,600 German companies operating in Egypt. These firms are active in strategic sectors including automotive manufacturing, conventional and renewable energy, and the emerging field of green hydrogen. 'Our partnership with Germany has played a vital role in modernizing Egypt's economy,' Abdel Aty said. He expressed hope that the relationship would soon be formally upgraded to a strategic partnership, reflecting the level of coordination and shared priorities between the two nations. He cited a recent phone conversation between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz as evidence of the deepening relationship, adding that Egypt is keen to see enhanced cooperation in development, investment, and trade. Among the key topics discussed was the second tranche of the Egypt-Germany debt swap agreement, which is expected to be finalized soon. The funds, to be paid in Egyptian pounds, will be directed toward domestic development projects. Both sides also explored mechanisms to increase trade volume and German investments in Egypt, positioning the country as a strategic gateway to African markets. Abdel Ati also highlighted Egypt's efforts to localize industry, part of its broader national development strategy, and invited greater German participation in the process. He pointed to Egypt's preferential trade access under frameworks such as the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), COMESA, and the Arab Free Trade Area as additional incentives for German investors. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean News 3 Killed in Shooting Attack in Thailand

Pakistan Condemns Indian Minister's Remarks, Urges Return to Diplomacy, Dialogue

Nada Mustafa In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, Pakistan categorically rejected what it described as 'irresponsible remarks' made by India's External Affairs Minister during recent media engagements in Brussels. The statement, released by Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, underscored the need for diplomatic discourse that fosters peace and harmony, rather than inflammatory rhetoric. Pakistan criticized the tone and content of the Indian minister's statements, emphasizing that the stature of a foreign minister demands dignified communication, not 'bellicose punchlines.' The ministry urged Indian officials to adopt a more responsible approach, especially in public international forums. The statement accused India of perpetuating a 'malicious campaign' to mislead the global community by portraying itself as a victim, while allegedly engaging in state, sponsored oppression and terrorism, particularly in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir. Islamabad claimed that India's anti-Pakistan rhetoric was a diversionary tactic to obscure its own controversial activities and human rights abuses in the region. Highlighting its preference for peaceful coexistence and diplomacy, Pakistan nevertheless reaffirmed its readiness to defend its sovereignty. The government cited its 'robust response' to what it called 'India's reckless strikes' last month as evidence of its deterrent capabilities. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry also urged India to cease what it called 'misleading narratives' used to justify recent aggressive actions. 'The narrative emerging from India betrays sheer frustration, following an unsuccessful military adventure against Pakistan,' the statement read. It further advised Indian leadership to 'improve the standard of their discourse and discard their obsession with Pakistan.' The statement concluded with a pointed reminder: 'History will judge not by who shouted the loudest, but by who acted the wisest.' This latest exchange underscores the ongoing volatility in India-Pakistan relations, with diplomatic tensions continuing to mount amid mutual accusations of aggression and subversion. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean
