Hong Kong triathlete Brown suffers injury setback as National Games push begins
Hong Kong's leading female triathlete, Brown had hoped to compete in Putrajaya, two months after she fell while on a training run and fractured and ripped open her right index finger. During emergency surgery, she had floating bone removed from the finger, which had bent to a right angle, and needed 15 stitches.
Brown underwent a second surgery following complications with her recovery, and needs one more operation before she can resume training.
Andrew Wright, the Hong Kong triathlon head coach, said the best-case scenario for Brown, who has remained 'fit and in good shape', was a return to 'proper' training in six weeks.
That would leave her precious little time to prepare for the Hong Kong-staged Asian Sprint Championships, on April 5, which will double as a selection race for November's National Games, where Brown is targeting a podium finish. 'Such a high-level athlete can get fit very quickly and [assuming a smooth recovery], she is likely to be on the start line [for Asian Sprint Championships], although she will struggle to compete for a medal,' Wright said.

Inside Cristiano Ronaldo's CR7 Life Museum – and Al-Nassr meet Bruce Lee
As Cristiano Ronaldo prepared to play at Hong Kong Stadium on Tuesday, the Post was granted an exclusive tour of his CR7 Life Museum by members of his inner circle. Advertisement Joining a delegation from his Saudi club, Al-Nassr, for the short stroll from their Regent Hong Kong hotel to the K11 Musea shopping centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, we spent around 30 minutes circling a testimonial to an extraordinary career. Jorge Jesus, the new Al-Nassr head coach, was particularly drawn to memorabilia celebrating Ronaldo's time playing for Juventus, and a waxwork depicting him in Arab dress after his Saudi switch. Sources told the Post the 2020 Champions League winner's arrival from Bayern Munich came after a year-long pursuit. As a high-ranking official from Ronaldo's family office led the way, Al-Nassr coaches lingered over jerseys from Andorinha, Ronaldo's first youth team, and a re-creation of the star's humble childhood bedroom. Hong Kong footballers say pitch bookings were cancelled for Ronaldo's team to use
Football clubs in Hong Kong have called for better communication from the city's governing body after it cancelled bookings of facilities to hand them over to Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr and their rival Saudi Super Cup teams. Recreational groups and Premier League clubs received messages at late notice stating that pitches were to be taken off them so that the Football Association of Hong Kong, China (HKFA) could block-book them for the four visiting Saudi sides. Premier League club Eastern were forced to move nine sessions, spanning last Thursday to this Friday. 'It's a little inconvenient for us, especially as the season starts soon,' a spokesman for Eastern said, adding that they had been 'notified at very short notice' but that the FA had helped to find alternative places to train. 'Our club is delighted that the HKFA has the opportunity to participate in this event,' he said. 'We believe that they can make better arrangements in the future.' Photo: Instagram/ A message to parents about cancelled children's sessions, seen by the Post, read: 'We are extremely upset about this, in particular the timing of the decision!! The lack of notice is awful, just 2 days before closing. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this as the HKFA own the facility and they are within their rights to use it as they wish.'
