Man killed getting niece's photos deleted
Ahmedabad: A 34-year-old man from Odhav was beaten and stabbed to death late Saturday night after he reportedly confronted an 18-year-old and his two brothers over private photos of his niece. The teenager allegedly had private photos of the victim's niece, also aged 18, after their school relationship ended. The victim was accompanied by his friend who is now the complainant in the case, and two others when he went to the teen's house. According to the FIR filed with Odhav police, the deceased wanted to ensure that the teen had deleted the pictures from his phone. A heated exchange ended in the victim slapping the teen and his two brothers allegedly fatally stabbed the victim and injured the complainant. The FIR states that the confrontation began after the deceased slapped the teen for allegedly refusing to let him check the phone for any backups after deleting the photos from the gallery. In retaliation, the teen, along with his older brothers, aged 35 and 40, dragged the deceased out of the house after allegedly striking him with a wooden bat. Odhav police have arrested the three accused and registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 103(1) (murder), 118(2) (causing grievous hurt), 54 (abetment), and the Gujarat Police Act 135(1) (general offences). Police are also investigating if the mother had a role in luring the victim to the house.

Visa agent cheated out of Rs 1cr by another with promise of PR visas
Ahmedabad: A businessman from Borisana village filed a police complaint on Sunday, alleging that a visa agent cheated him of over Rs 1 crore under the pretext of providing him permanent residency (PR) visas with job offers for countries including Australia, Canada and the US. The 36-year-old resident of Borisana, runs a visa consultancy named Made Easy Overseas. In his complaint to Infocity police, he stated that his friend introduced him to the visa agent, who claimed he could arrange job-based PR visas. Between Nov 24, 2024 and March 8 this year, the complainant handed over documents and passports of 10 clients to the agent. Payments were made in Gandhinagar, the visa agent's office and other locations. Some of the payments were also handed over to the visa agent's staff members. In all, Rs 1.02 crore was paid. According to the complainant, the agent sent him visa documents, diploma certificates, sponsor letters, PR cards and labour market impact assessment (LMIA) letters over WhatsApp to gain trust. But upon verification, all these documents turned out to be fake. When confronted, the visa agent allegedly became aggressive and refused to communicate properly. Once the deadline passed, he issued 10 cheques, which were deposited by the complainant and his clients. All cheques bounced. The accused asked for the cheques to be re-deposited, but they bounced again. He then issued 14 more cheques, which also bounced. The accused also used the name of two companies while pulling off the fraud. The complaint also states that the accused presented forged visa and immigration documents and caused financial loss by breaching trust. Infocity police registered a case under sections pertaining to cheating, breach of trust and forgery under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigation is underway.

Three arrested on charge of duping people of over Rs1cr
Nashik: Cyber police have arrested three individuals in connection with a ponzi scheme that defrauded around 25,000 people of over Rs1 crore. The arrests took place on Saturday, and the suspects will remain in police remand until Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Vishnu Patil (50) from Malegaon Camp, Pramod Billade (41) and Chetan Mahajan (38), both from Loner, Deola. According to the police, the trio along with two other accomplices launched a website enticing people to invest money with the promise of doubling their returns within 12 to 15 days. An officer from the cyber police said, investigations revealed that the scheme went on from May to Aug of this year. A case has been registered against them under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including cheating, criminal breach of trust, and criminal conspiracy. They also face charges under the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Act, 1999, and the Information Technology (IT) Act. Senior police inspector Subhash Dhavale of the cyber police station said the accused operated the scheme without any approval or registration from the Reserve Bank of India or any govt department. "The other two suspects will soon be arrested. The accused were taking investments from people starting from Rs10,000 and above," the officer said.
