Tributes paid to 'pure gentleman' found dead in Tipperary home
Tributes have been paid to a man who was found dead in his home in Co Tipperary. The body of Ian Walsh, 49, was discovered at his home on Creggs Road in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary at around 3.30am on Monday (August 4). Gardaí are treating his death as suspicious and believe he may have died a few days prior. While a post-mortem examination will determine the course of Gardaí's investigation into Mr Walsh's death, tributes have begun pouring in for him following his death, with him being remembered by his colleagues at Irish Rail and railway enthusiasts as someone who 'went far beyond the extra mile.' Tributes have been paid to Ian Walsh, who was found dead in his home in Co Tipperary. Pic: Facebook Táilte Tours, who knew Mr Walsh as a signaller at the Cork railway station who was a 'huge supporter' of their operation, said 'Ian ran five railtours of his own over the course of the mid to late 2000s, and was very much a pioneer in 'outside the box' tours in Ireland, starting them from locations such as Waterford and Limerick, in an era when tours were generally based in Dublin or Belfast. 'He was more than happy to pass his experience and expertise on when we started operations a few years ago; for those of you who enjoyed the 'surprise' rare track moves on our Cork-based railtours, you can thank Ian, who went far beyond the extra mile to ensure our operations went off without a hitch. 'He had a wonderful knowledge of the Iarnród Éireann system and its people, and had also developed a passion for Bus Éireann operations, diligently recording the last runs on several rural routes in the south east as they disappeared, quickly becoming a friend to bus drivers in the Cork and Waterford areas.' Mr Walsh was found dead at his home in Carrick on Suir on Monday morning, with Gardaí believing that he may have died over the Bank Holiday weekend. Pic: Facebook Following the passing of Mr Walsh, Iarnród Éireann also paid tribute to him, saying that they were shocked at the death of their 'well known and popular' colleague. Another person wrote; 'A good friend from day one, there will never be another railwayman like Ian. Rip Squinty [Mr Walsh's nickname].' 'I got to know Ian from taking photos an uploading to facebook Morden Bus Eireann page,' another wrote. 'He was a pure Gentleman. You'll be missed.' Gardaí have appealed for anyone who was in the area of Cregg Road, Carrick-on-Suir over the Bank Holiday weekend, from Friday (August 1) at 8pm and Bank Holiday Monday (August 4) at 3.30am to contact them. Gardaí in Tipperary are appealing for anyone with any information, and who may have been on the Cregg Road area between Friday at 8pm and Monday at 3.30am to contact them. Showjumper and horse rider GUILTY of forcing underage girl into sex with them before hatching ‘pact of silence'
Twisted paedo called himself 'daddy' in vile messages to girl SICK CRIME Showjumper and horse rider GUILTY of forcing underage girl into sex with them before hatching 'pact of silence' A SHOWJUMPER and horse rider have been found guilty of forcing an underage girl into having sex with them. Guy Simmonds, 37, and Lauren Jarvis, 26, targeted the girl despite knowing she was under 16. Advertisement 3 Lauren Jarvis had a so-called threesome with a teenage girl Credit: WNS 3 She and Guy Simmonds knew how old the teen was but still targeted her Credit: WNS Equestrian boss Simmonds called himself "daddy" in messages to the youngster as he plotted the illicit encounter. He and Jarvis then hatched a "pact of silence" when they got wind that the girl was talking about it. The pair were today convicted of sexual activity with a child following a trial. Simmonds was found not guilty on five other charges of sexual activity with a child relating to the same victim. Advertisement Cardiff Crown Court heard Simmonds bragged he was a "top showjumper" after targeting the underage girl on Facebook. Prosecutor James Hartson said there was a "clear element of grooming behaviour" from Simmonds, who had "no doubt at all" about the girl's age. He added: "At all times he knew how old she was and so did Jarvis. The victim told him herself in one of the very first messages she sent him. "The defendants didn't care about her age when they were planning and engaging in a so-called threesome with the victim. Advertisement "They also knew what they did was wrong and they agreed a pact of silence when they got wind she had started to talk about it." In January 2024, he messaged fellow rider Jarvis to organise the encounter at her home - asking when he should "pop over". Simmonds then text the girl to inform her of the plan, telling her: "You will both do what daddy says." The girl told the court Simmonds got her and Jarvis to "do stuff" with each other before he had sex with both of them. Advertisement Simmonds then messaged Jarvis after the encounter to say: "You both loved that haha". Jarvis replied: "Yeah, you missed round two" with a wink emoji. The pair then cooked up their vow of silence in a twisted bid to cover their crime. Simmonds text Jarvis, saying: "Hey, I have a feeling that [name of alleged victim] has said about us. Advertisement "If anyone asks for sake of both of us nothing ever happened that night xx." Jarvis replied: "Hey, who's she told? Oh god has she really, what's she trying to do, make our lives hell? Of course I will xx." Simmonds ran a riding school that offered "showjumping horse production and sales, coaching and schooling" in the village of Undy in Wales. The alarm was raised when the girl told her dad what had happened and he alerted police. Advertisement But Simmonds told police he did not have any form of sexual contact with the victim. He also claimed any messages about the encounter with Jarvis were "banter and a wind up." Judge Lucy Crowther adjourned the case for sentencing on September 29. 3 Jarvis entered into a 'pact of silence' with Simmonds Credit: WNS

Full catalogue of failures in Titan sub disaster laid bare in new report… & ‘negligent' CEO Stockton Rush WAS to blame
DOOMED SUB Full catalogue of failures in Titan sub disaster laid bare in new report… & 'negligent' CEO Stockton Rush WAS to blame A DAMNING report into the doomed Titan sub has laid a bare catalogue of fatal failures and negligence that led to the deaths of five people. The bombshell file also points squarely at OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush as the man to blame for the 2023 disaster. Advertisement 3 Damning report into doomed sub tragedy finds catastrophe was 'preventable' and down to a deadly cocktail of errors Credit: AP 3 The 335-page investigation, released Tuesday by the US Coast Guard, concludes the tragedy was "preventable" and driven by "critically flawed" practices, design shortcuts, and an appalling safety culture inside the deep-sea tourism company. Rush, who died in the implosion along with four passengers near the wreck of the Titanic, was found to have "exhibited negligence that contributed to the deaths of four individuals", according to the report. In a stinging assessment, investigators said had Rush survived, they would have recommended the Department of Justice consider a criminal probe. The report stated: "For several years preceding the incident, OceanGate leveraged intimidation tactics, allowances for scientific operations, and the company's favourable reputation to evade regulatory scrutiny. Advertisement "By strategically creating and exploiting regulatory confusion… OceanGate was ultimately able to operate Titan completely outside of the established deep-sea protocols."
