Aussie TikTok star Maddy Macrae lives at airport for one week

An Aussie TikTok star has gone viral for living inside an airport for a week.
Maddy Macrae, 32, from Sydney, decided to stay at Changi Airport in Singapore as part of a 'social experiment'.
'I am a big fan of the movie The Terminal and chose Changi because it's the best airport in the world (that's won all these awards),' she told news.com.au.
'But obviously I wasn't going to be making beds out of the seats in the airport,' she laughed.
Instead, she stayed at Crown Plaza that's located at Terminal 3 – a rare hotel that allows guests to 'go outside'.
'I wanted to see what it would be like, to see if I would go crazy, would I go insane but I didn't, it just felt like a holiday,' Maddy said.
The TikToker went live every day, detailing what she did to her 1.9 million followers.
'This is the most insane airport,' she said in her first viral clip. 'My first stop was the Jewel to see the waterfall – absolutely breathtaking. It's also a huge mall so I had a quick walk through before grabbing a milk tea and hopping on a skytrain to get to my hotel.'
'The pool is right next to my room and this is just insane it's here for a layover.'
While Maddy stayed at the hotel for a week, guests with long layovers can book in six-hour blocks for $305 or $330 for an eight-hour stay.
'The worst thing about layovers is you're stuck inside but the hotel has a pool that's outdoors,' she said.
'Having that fresh air available to you is so nice, so is having access to a nice shower and gym.'
While a social experiement, Maddy acknowledged that she was approached by the hotel to experience everything the airport in full.
She also wanted to see what all the fuss was about Changi Airport given it was also recently recognised as the world's best airport hotel by Skytrax.
'There's so much great cultural food and experiences you can do without leaving the airport,' she said.
'I spent about $50 a day – you can get a great Singaporean dish between $7 and $15 – and a lot of the activities are free.'
She said she never ran out of things to do having visited the 40m-tall waterfall surrounded by more than 900 trees and palms in the Forest Valley, Butterfly or Sunflower Garden.
She was shocked to discover the airport hosts free outside tours for passengers with long layovers.
'I did do a free tour which took me to the river and Marina Bay,' she said.
'It's actually available to people who haven't even cleared immigration. You can be on the airport side and have a long layover and go on this free tour.
'If you're in the arrival side and haven't come through you can still do it.'
Maddy's followers, while some sceptical about her living at an airport for a week, were mostly excited about how her 'experiment'.
'Going to Singapore in 6 weeks but im going to need a good reason to leave the airport,' one user wrote.
'My dream? There's a literal hedge maze in an airport!! It's giving Bridgerton meets The Terminal, and that's exactly the kind of storyline I belong in,' said another.
'That sounds like an amazing opportunity! Excited to see how the week-long layover unfolds. Changi Airport is definitely a great place to start the adventure,' a third added.
Maddy said one of the weirdest things is how 'time doesn't exist'.
'The phenomenon around airport limbo exists even when you live there,' she said. 'So time is a construct and having a cocktail at 7am whether you're living there or not is absolutely on the cards.
'I had a cocktail once at 10am – nobody will frown at you for doing that,' she laughed.
She said overall it was a 'fun challenge' and perfect airport for a long layover.

Perth salon boss forced to defend Yungblud interaction

Prominent Perth salon owner Sharlene Lee has gone viral after sharing a video of her meeting up with UK rockstar Yungblud in Italy. The Circles of Hair owner shared a video on social media that showed her catching up with the global superstar while both happened to be visiting Capri at the same time. The English singer was celebrating his 28th birthday at a lunch next to Lee, but found time to give the popular Subiaco and CBD hair salons a quick shout to Lee's friends and family back home. 'Circles of Hair is the best salon in the f***ing world,' he said in her video shared to TikTok and Instagram. The pair acted in an excited, hyped manner as they both yelled and wooed before Lee said: 'This guy is a legend.' 'You're young blood and I'm old blood,' she played on his stage name. Yungblud's ex Jesse Jo Stark also featured in the video with the former lovers seen leaving in a speedboat together while waving goodbye to Lee. The video has received more than 88,000 views on TikTok, with people taking to the comments with mixed reactions about the clip. Some viewers called out Lee for 'outing' Yungblud and Jesse. 'The way this lady just unintentionally outted him and Jesse Jo when they've been keeping everything private and lowkey,' one person said. Another person said: 'Was he with Jessie Jo???? I can't believe it!!!!' The couple, who had been together since mid-2021, recently took a break from each other but have been seen together since the split, including at Bludfest and on holidays. Other TikTok viewers took issue with the fact that he looked 'uncomfortable' around Lee and 'hated' the interaction. 'You can see the exact moment he dissociates,' one person said. Another person said: 'He hated every second of that.' 'Maybe I'm seeing it wrong idk but he looks a little uncomfortable,' a third person added. 'He didn't enjoy that,' someone else said. However, Lee replied: 'He did and you have no clue what we were talking about at lunch.' Lee, who's known for her energetic and outgoing personality, was last year labelled the 'world's best boss' after lending her staff money for a boob job, a new car or help with a mortgage. She shared how she racked up more than $300,000 on her American Express card in April after splurging on her employees by helping them with costly payments. And last month Circles of Hair was forced to defend its work after a client claimed to have received 'diabolical' results at her hair appointment.

Clean Bandit's Grace Chatto reveals toll teenage drug use took on her speech

Clean Bandit star Grace Chatto has claimed taking drugs as a teenager left her with slower speech. The 39-year-old cellist for the Grammy winning group shared some previously unknown facts about herself in a TikTok post, including how her drug use impacted her brain, and not being able to get car insurance because of a driving ban. She typed on a picture of herself looking into a mirror: 'I speak so slowly because I took too many drugs when I was a teenager.' She wrote: 'I can't get car insurance because I had a driving ban.' Grace also admitted she "ghosted all my friends", "can't get out of bed", and is "socially awkward". The Rather Be hitmaker used her band's latest song, Believe - featuring South African artist Lloyiso - to soundtrack the post. Upon swiping right, a second mirror shot showed her with "luscious locks" after saying her hair is "like hay". She typed on that picture: 'But I believe in us. Won a Grammy, gratitude for all that I have, I am strong, I'm nice, I am honest.' Meanwhile, Clean Bandit loved working with the Idols South Africa star Lloyiso so much, they haven't ruled out him joining the band as a permanent singer. Founding member Jack Patterson recently told when asked if he could lead the band full-time: 'Maybe Lloyiso. Never before but maybe now.' Grace hopes bandmates Jack and Luke Patterson make an album with Lloyiso. She said: "Jack is going to the Burning Man Festival, and we are trying to convince Lloyiso to go with him so they can write an album with him." Clean Bandit have never had a constant singer and have recruited the likes of Anne-Marie, Jess Glynne and Zara Larsson to front their tunes in the past. Grace said of working Lloyiso: "This is the most organic collaboration we have ever done I think, because we were in South Africa in Cape Town, and we met Lloyiso quite randomly after a performance. His friends, these two producers called 'The Imports' asked us to stay out here. We were meant to fly back to London to write some songs, and Jack and Luke did go back to London, so I went on my own and we all stayed in this big house, and we made writing rooms in every bedroom. I always like to be in bed, so it was perfect to be in bed. We had keyboards all over the bed, and guitars and everything, and we started a beat, and Lloyiso just came out with an incredible melody that became the chorus, and I have never heard such a beautiful voice. It was so moving, and I said, 'sing it again', and voice-noted it to send to Jack who had just landed in Heathrow. He went crazy and immediately wrote some chords under that melody."
