She is now also fully embracing her passion for country music.
Having dealt with X Factor fame at 16, followed by a series of mental health and addiction struggles, Janet is finally enjoying the sunshine.
Now also fully embracing her passion for country music, the super talented young Tyrone woman has just released another gem called Houston, one of several new tracks that will feature on a 'reimagined' album coming down the trail.
Janet said it wasn't until she was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and ADHD and was prescribed medication that the light finally came into her life.
Janet Devlin
'Self-harm, anorexia, drug and alcohol abuse, troubled relationships…it's like my whole life was in this diagnosis,' Janet tells Shuffle.
'That diagnosis was the most relief I felt my whole life… to know that I'm not a bad person, I have a thing, it's an explanation. And from that piece of paper I was able to go and get the help that I needed for the specific condition.
'Now life is quite kind to me. After years of investment in myself figuring myself out, I now find most things manageable.
'It doesn't mean you don't have to put in the hard work and you're not crying occasionally. But the amount of stress and tears has shrunk a lot. So that's been lovely.'
Janet tells how she no longer allows negative and hurtful personal comments on social media to wound her.
She says: 'I get a lot of comments on the internet, especially about what I wear. Anytime I'm scantily clad I always get the most belligerent comments.
News in 90 seconds - 11th August 2025
'But 10 years ago I had that realisation that 'hey, you're never going to be this young ever again.'
My thing was, I didn't want to wake up at 70 or something and look at a photo of myself and remember, 'why didn't I wear the crop-top when I was in the best shape of my life, when I never looked better and I was afraid to wear it?'
'I didn't want to be that person who has regrets. Obviously I'm 30 and hopefully it's not going to be too downhill, but in a few years it will be downhill so if I've got the body-shape now to wear skintight leotard covered in diamantes I'm gonna do it.
'I didn't wear those things when I was 16 because I was aware that I had a younger following (from X Factor). I always made a conscious decision to wear clothes that were age appropriate.
'Now I'm a grown up woman with a grown up adult audience I'm like, 'let me wear these clothes and leave me alone.'
'I firmly believe that if you want to do something do it. If you're not hurting anybody else don't think twice about it, just do it if it makes you happy and gives you a kick.' Read more
Janet has been spending a lot of time in Nashville this year songwriting and recording. She loves the laid-back culture and the warmth of the locals.
'You still see two old men leaning over a fence and chattin', or some teenager helping an old lady with her groceries to her car. That is so very much in the culture and something I appreciate when I go over there.
'And every musician I met out there has been phenomenal and just a great person. They have such an understanding from all the hours they spent in studios with artists.
'They know how to get the best out of somebody and cheer them on if they're a bit nervous. When you're in Nashville you're probably not even the best singer in the studio, but that doesn't matter. You take everything as a blessing and just do your best and live on a dream.
'The people I worked with in the studios were also so helpful with passing on contacts. It's so like home, everybody knows everybody in Nashville.'
Janet Devlin's new single, Houston, is now available on all music platforms.

Lydia Bright slammed for ‘parent-shaming' as she shares medical advice online

TOWIE alum Lydia Bright has been called out for "parent shaming" after sharing medical advice online. The reality TV star, 34, came under fire following her latest Instagram post, which documented a day in her life as a busy mum. Advertisement 6 TOWIE alum Lydia Bright has been called out for 'parent shaming' Credit: Splash 6 It came after she shared medical advice online Credit: PA 6 Lydia linked the rise in ADHD diagnoses to an increased use of screen time Credit: Instagram It showed Lydia playing with her five year old daughter Loretta and cooking together while calling out the increased use of screen time among kids. The former TOWIE fan favourite admitted she was "far from the perfect parent" yet hailed the "routines" she sticks to with Loretta to keep her away from tablets, including "books before bed." Lydia partnered with organisation Health Pros for Safer Screens for her video, yet some fans took issue with one claim in which she linked increased screen time to a "27 per cent rise children struggling with speech and language." She added: "ADHD diagnoses have soared by 56 per cent and one in four 10 year olds are now living with obesity." Advertisement Fans weren't impressed with the link to ADHD, which is a common condition that affects people's behaviour. The disorder, which is often diagnosed in childhood, often sparks symptoms of inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsiveness. The ADHD Foundation reveals that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is one of the most common childhood conditions. One angry follower was quick to comment on Lydia's post and wrote: "Screens don't cause ADHD. The ADHD is already there, so tired of this false narrative just so you can post an ad. Inaccurate and offensive." Advertisement A second posted: "ADHD is genetic, this will make parents feel awful by saying that screen time caused it!" A third mused: "I have to comment but as far as I am aware ADHD isn't related to screen time, it's genetics." Lydia Bright reveals daughter, five, is still co-sleeping One then wrote: "Throwing ADHD in the mix is not good. The only reason ADHD diagnosis is up is because it's being recognised now unlike a few years ago they said it was bad parenting. "Please only post the truth it's important. I agree with you too many parents can you screen time and it's not good for children." Advertisement Another mused: "I'm sorry you haven't been given the correct information about ADHD having specialised and worked with children and young adults. "It's going to offend the hard working parents and guardians alike . ADHD isn't related to screens!" What is neurodiversity? You may have heard of autism and ADHD before. These conditions come under the umbrella term of neurodiversity. Neurodiversity is a term that refers to the natural variation in how human brains work. It is rooted in the idea that neurological differences, such as those associated with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette's syndrome, and other conditions, are a normal and valuable part of human diversity rather than deficits or disorders that need fixing. Rather, society should find ways to be more inclusive and accommodating, such as in schools and the workplace. Here's a closer look at two of the key conditions: ADHD ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how individuals focus, regulate their impulses, and manage their energy levels. Symptoms depend on the type; inattention causes challenges with focusing, organisation and time management, hyperactivity causes excessive energy or restlessness, and impulsivity causes a person to act without thinking or struggle to wait their turn. People can be predominately one type or a mix of the two and symptoms are varied and unique to individuals. While living with ADHD is challenging, people often find unique strengths within their condition, such as the ability to hyperfocus on something they find interesting, problem-solving skills and creativity. Autism Autism is described as a "spectrum" because it encompasses a wide range of traits and abilities. Common features include difficulty with social communication, such as reading facial expressions or tone, repetitive behaviours and routine, sensitivity to stimulation of the senses, e.g. bright lights or loud noises, and detailed, literal thinking. Autism can be challenging, including due to a lack of understanding. But there are key strategies to help those with it thrive. In her caption, Lydia offered more insight in her new collaboration. She wrote: "We're in the middle of a public health crisis that isn't being talked about. Ad* Advertisement "I believe so many parents aren't aware of the developmental, behavioural, physical, and emotional risks of excessive screen time in early childhood. "That's why I've teamed up with @healthprosforsaferscreens to help share the facts. This isn't about guilt tripping, we're all doing our best with the knowledge and tools we have. "But I believe that if parents really knew the dangers that would make different choices. "Which is why I think their free Summer of Connections e-book is a must-read for parents. Advertisement "It's packed with evidence, information and realistic ideas to help families reduce screen time and support new routines, rituals and healthier childhood development. "Head to my stories or bio to download. *Partnering with #healthprosforsaferscreens to raise awareness of screen harms." FAN SLAM Recently, Lydia was mum-shamed for admitting she still co-sleeps with her daughter instead of her partner. She previously came under fire over a sweet video she posted of her five-year-old little girl. Advertisement In the sweet clip, Loretta - whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend Lee Cronin - could be seen fast asleep next to her mum. However, some cruel trolls said she should not be letting her child sleep next to her, if she wants to find a new man. She was also mum-shamed after letting her daughter climb on plane seats. 6 Fans were quick to flag the condition is genetic Advertisement 6 Lydia told of the 'routines' she uses with daughter Loretta to reduce screen time in her new Instagram campaign Credit: instagram/lydiabright

The conversation soon turned to the moment Lucy - then 21 - was raped by a hotel porter during production of The X Factor. Lucy was competing on the ITV series in 2012 and made it through to the live shows. But after a drunken night out with fellow competitor Rylan Clark for his 25th birthday, Lucy was raped by a hotel porter who had used a traceable key card to get back into her room while she was passed out. Sharing her ordeal with the Celebrity SAS staff, as she started by explaining what she wanted to find out about herself. She stammered: "Where I, where I...I've been broken so many times." She went on to explain how being on The X Factor was "everything I'd ever wished for". But then she moved on to the fateful night when her world changed and she said: "I was wasted, I was paralytic." "The hotel porter said 'Oh I'll give her a hand' and I was paralytic. I passed out on the bed, so I can only tell you this stuff because of the information that I have been told. "When that hotel porter came up to my room to do what not-nice people do to vulnerable women." X Factor's Lucy Spraggan breaks down in tears as she's forced to cancel run of shows Trying to keep her composure, she continued: "I woke up and I didn't really know I knew what had happened but I didn't know what to do." Thankfully, the fact the porter used a key card was what helped identify him as her rapist and he was arrested. Lucy left the show soon after, with viewers having no idea about what really happened. Recalling how she felt at that point, a tearful Lucy said: "It was tough, hard." It felt like everything was snatched away from me in a really brutal way. Lucy Spraggan She then hung her head as the tears finally burst out before she wiped her eyes and calmed down a little. She then told the staff: "It was seven years of, like, trying to destroy myself. The amount of times I was blackout drunk, again, after that. "I know that that's what that was, I was just trying to shut everything out, but it felt like everything was snatched away from me in a really brutal way. "And I was like 'I haven't done anything wrong'. And so, I was angry about that, I was angry that other people had music careers that were better than mine. I realised, I was like, 'If I carry on doing this, I'm just going to die." Thankfully, Lucy was able to turn her life around and move forward and tied the knot with her photographer wife Emilia Smith last year. She has also continued to release music and perform. 5 Lucy bravely spoke about what happened to her 5 The star is one of 14 celebrities competing on the latest series of the Channel 4 show Credit: Pete Dadds / Channel 4 Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 4, with all episodes available on demand for plus members.
