Vedanta stall on women-led enterprises steals the show at Vikas Mela 2025 in Odisha
The kiosk showcased products from Vedanta Aluminium's flagship women empowerment initiative Project Sakhi, celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit of rural women in shaping Kalahandi's development.
The vibrant display of handmade products crafted by women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at the stall drew large crowd and widespread appreciation from dignitaries including district magistrate Sachin Pawar and senior officials from Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS), Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), and the District Planning and Monitoring Unit (DPMU).
The visitors commended the high quality, creativity, and market-readiness of the showcased products, acknowledging them as a testament to Vedanta's sustained efforts in nurturing rural enterprises and women-led micro-economies in the region.
'The development of Kalahandi is intrinsically linked to the empowerment of its people. At Vedanta Aluminium, we believe women are the cornerstone of inclusive growth. Through Project Sakhi, we are enabling them to become self-reliant entrepreneurs and active agents of socio-economic change,' said Vedanta Alumina Business CEO Pranab Kumar Bhattacharyya.

PM to inaugurate projects worth ₹11,000 crore to boost Delhi's connectivity today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major national highway projects worth ₹11,000 crore in Rohini on Sunday. The projects — the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway — aim to decongest the Capital and improve connectivity, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta termed UER-II a 'historic gift' for the city and said that it would not only move Delhi closer to becoming traffic-free but also strengthen connectivity across the National Capital Region. Ms. Gupta inspected the venue in Rohini Sector 37, where the inauguration is scheduled to take place. She said the UER-II would reduce the travel time from the Singhu border, which connects Delhi with Haryana, to the IGI Airport from two hours to around 40 minutes. Meanwhile, the Congress hit out at the BJP-led Centre over the 'high' toll tax on the UER-II. Delhi Congress spokesperson Naresh Kumar claimed that the toll tax in Delhi is higher than in the neighbouring States of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. He demanded a reduction of toll charges by at least 50%.

He further pointed out that reforms in the supply and export system for essential grains such as rice and wheat were brought in during Vajpayee's tenure. He said that Vajpayee's birthday is observed annually as 'Good Governance Day' in recognition of his ethical and effective administration, which is widely considered a "golden age" in Indian history.

A war of words broke out between the BJP and the Opposition over the latter's rush to take credit for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day promise to bring next-generation GST reforms. The BJP slammed Congress for claiming credit for the proposed two-slab tax regime, down from the existing four, and reminded the party that its leader Rahul Gandhi dubbed GST as 'Gabbar Singh Tax". BJP leader Amit Malviya said that the Congress 'realises" that PM Modi's GST reforms are 'bound to succeed", therefore the party wants to 'rebrand their sabotage as support".
