TMKOC's Nidhi Bhanushali On Actors Quitting The Show: ‘Nobody Needs To Give Justification'
Nidhi, who left the show years ago, said she remains in touch with co-stars like Dilkush Reporter, Bhavya Gandhi, and Kush Shah.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), India's longest-running sitcom, is currently in the spotlight amid reports that lead actors Dilip Joshi (Jethalal) and Munmun Dutta (Babita) may be exiting the show. While the makers have denied the claims, the departure of several popular actors in the past has sparked debate. Former Sonu Bhide, actress Nidhi Bhanushali, recently weighed in on the topic during an interview with Hindi Rush.
Nidhi, who left the show years ago, said she remains in touch with co-stars like Dilkush Reporter, Bhavya Gandhi, and Kush Shah. When asked about the buzz surrounding Dilip Joshi, Munmun Dutta, and Tanuj Mahashabde possibly leaving the show, she pointed out that monotony can affect anyone.
'Aap kitne hi time ke liye ek cheez roj kar sakte ho. Everybody has a life and has a right to think about what they want to do for themselves," she said. 'I know the show is big, and it has given recognition to many actors. But at the end of the day, it is work. I don't feel like anybody needs to give any justification for their decision to leave the show."
Responding to reports that several actors left due to issues with the show's production team, Nidhi added, 'Aisi kaunsi cheez hoti hai jo sirf acchi hai? Every coin has two sides. Everybody is trying to do their best. I really don't know what to say on this. I chose what I chose when I thought the time was right. And I have just moved on in life."
Her comments come at a time when the show's producer, Asit Kumarr Modi, has clarified that both Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta are still very much a part of the show.
Nidhi Bhanushali played Sonu Bhide, the only daughter of Atmaram Bhide, in TMKOC. She was loved for her bubbly and cheerful portrayal before she exited the show to pursue her own path.
The show, which also stars Amit Bhatt, Mandar Chandwadkar, and Sonalika Joshi, continues to be a staple in Indian households even after 17 years on air.

LG also labelled 'Umrao Jaan' as a career breakthrough film of Rekha. He said, 'If I say this, it won't be wrong to say that Rekha became Rekha from this film. If it weren't for this film, Rekha wouldn't have been Rekha. I am sure that this film will become a milestone in the future, which will be remembered forever in the Mumbai film industry.' Rekha won the National Award for her impeccable performance in the film as a courtesan-poetess in 19th-century Lucknow. Her graceful dance performance on 'Dil Cheez Kya Hai' is still admired and remembered by filmophiles. On the sidelines of the event, director Muzaffar Ali called 'Umrao Jaan' 'timeless' and 'ageless'. While talking to ANI, he said, 'I think the movie is timeless, it's ageless, it was meant for a time 150 years ago. So, it was meant to be a period film, and it has been true to the period. It is still vibrant and alive as that period would have been. So, that way, the film is, for me, full of nostalgia, full of memories, details and hard work.' Director Ali also shared that he is willing to take the Umrao Jaan to the festivals and OTT platforms. 'I think we'll take it to a festival route and then it will come to the OTT,' said Muzaffar Ali. 'Umrao Jaan' is a classic Indian period drama that has been adapted into two film versions. The 1981 version, starring Rekha, is a cult classic and won four National Awards. The 2006 version, starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, was not well received by the audience. Both films are based on Mirza Hadi Ruswa's novel Umrao Jaan Ada. It was re-released in theatres on June 27. Street food is made on a low budget where hygiene is undervalued, but it delivers rich and authentic flavours," read a comment.
