'Arrogant neighbour keeps blocking my drive so I got revenge while he was on a date'

Daily Record17-05-2025

A man who grew sick and tired of his arrogant neighbour constantly parking in front of his driveway decided to take revenge - and he quickly realised he'd ruined his date in the process
A man has been praised for his clever revenge on a neighbour who repeatedly blocked his driveway "one too many times". He described his neighbour as an "arrogant six-foot something hulk" in his mid-20s who believes rules don't apply to him.
He alleges the neighbour consistently parks his car in front of his driveway, leaving little space for him to get in or out at will, "despite numerous warnings, notes and face-to-face 'mate, seriously, stop' chats". In a post on Reddit, he continued: "His excuse?'I'm just here for a bit.' A bit apparently translates to an eternity... 3 to 5 hours every blooming time.

"Last week, I come home and surprise. He's there again. Blocking my driveway with his shabby silver Sedan. I see him through his window getting ready, cologne and all. He's going out. I decide, tonight's the night."

In a bid for revenge, he says he did "something he should have done weeks ago" and rang a tow truck to haul away the vehicle. His revenge turned out even sweeter than anticipated. He added: "No warnings or, notes. Got it towed straight up.
"About 45 minutes later, I'm sitting on my porch enjoying a beer when a random lass walks up the pavement. Clearly dressed for a date.
"She knocks on his door, he comes out grinning, then clocks his car is gone. She's puzzled. He's losing it. He starts looking around like someone's nicked his stuff.
"I casually say, 'If you're looking for your car, it got towed. You were blocking my driveway. Again.'".
"He tries to argue but the girl just says, 'Wait, you parked in front of his driveway?' He tries to explain, but she just says, 'Wow. That's trash,' and walks off.

"I haven't seen him block my driveway since, and he never called another girl home after that. His confidence took a major hit."
In the comments of his post, reactions were mixed with one user chipping in: "He blocked you, you blocked him. Fair is fair."
While others rallied in support, another chimed in: "You saved her so much time realising he's a piece of garbage."

A third commenter highlights the influencing power of disappointment, stating: "Nothing like a woman's disgust to change a small minded person's behaviour."
Another tale of driveway war emerged, with an added twist: "This is the way. I had a neighbour jerk as well. They had a large garage sale and a random dude decided he would park in my driveway instead parking down the street."
The story continues with a direct confrontation: "I come rolling into my driveway, so I block his car. I go inside. Random dude knocks on my door 25 min later asking me to move my cat so he can leave."
The payback was sweet: "I told him he would now have to wait 45 minutes to leave (about how long he parked in my driveway) as I was busy right now. He got all annoyed and yes, I did make him wait the full 45 minutes."

'Entitled stranger drove past my house and made outrageous demand'

A homeowner was left 'baffled' after a stranger came up to them with an unusual request while they were sitting on their porch one day last summer, and it was so strange that they still think about it Your home and areas surrounding the property, like your garden and driveway, are places you want to be able to relax and feel comfortable. This can sometimes be made tricky by difficult neighbours or visitors on your street. Most people don't stop on a residential street unless they're visiting someone who lives there or they have a job to do, such as making a delivery. No one wants to be disturbed when they're trying to chill out at home unless it's for a good reason. However, one person recalled a time last summer when an 'entitled lady' wanted to use their garden for a yard sale. ‌ In a post on Reddit, the user explained that they were sitting on their front porch when a lady drove up and stopped outside their house. ‌ They said: 'This just happened last summer. I'm still just kinda baffled. I was sitting in a chair on my front porch playing on my phone and a lady drove up. 'Never seen her or her car before. It was like a bright teal colour, not something you normally see so I'd have remembered if it drove by often.' They looked up and said: 'Hello?' to which the woman responded: 'I wanna ask you something.' They said they were 'annoyed' but let her ask her question. The woman gave a ' weird look' and waved her hand around and added: 'I don't wanna ask this from far away.' The person added in their Reddit post: 'Now red flags are going off, I'm like there's 0 chance in h*** I'm getting up and walking over to this strange lady's car, so I tell her she's free to get out of her car and get a little closer. 'Doesn't seem super happy but she does and just stands behind her car so really not any closer than she was to begin with.' ‌ The lady then asked the homeowner if their street 'has a lot of traffic' and they told her that it has 'a good bit,' thinking the woman was worried about their car being parked in the middle of the road. However, this wasn't the case. They continued their Reddit post: 'Her next words really baffled me: 'I'm looking for someone to let me use their yard to have a yard sale.' "I immediately just said, 'No, not here.' Everything about this lady had already rubbed me the wrong way, there was no way I was letting her use my property for hours." ‌ The woman was 'flabbergasted' and struggled to take no for an answer. The person simply repeated: 'Yeah no, not here.' In response, the woman called them 'rude' as well as a 'bunch of other stuff' they didn't hear as she said them 'under her breath while getting back in her car in a huff and driving away.' The Reddit user concluded: 'And I'm just sitting there like why? There's also an empty field literally at the corner of my street so just no lady, you aren't entitled to use my yard for your sale.' ‌ More than 100 comments have been left on the post with others being supportive of how the user reacted to the 'entitled lady.' The top comment reads: 'That was gutsy. Asking to hold your yard sale in a stranger's yard. Me thinks she [is] up to something fishy, and wants to leave you holding the bag.' Someone else added: 'Definitely something was off. Sure, it's easy to imagine someone lives in an apartment where she can't hold a yard maybe, given that she asked about traffic, lives on a tiny side street or dead end. 'But it's difficult to believe she has NO friends or relatives with yards she could use, not even a single person, so that she needs to be driving around asking random strangers.'

Advertisement He told his fans: "First I would love to say thank you for the love and support I've received, really appreciate the ones who reached out to check in on me and make sure I'm doing okay. "I'm not going to feed into this behaviour, the people who know me know that I'm not capable of such things. "All of this will be dealt with accordingly and by the proper authorities as she has made some pretty serious and false allegations. "Harassment, bullying, public safety and defamation of character are serious offences and should not be taken lightly. The influencer, who is also Australian, also made a string of other allegations before they were delated. Fans have been left shocked by the situation and have given their opinions on Reddit. Another added: "I feel like this level of crashout would be warranted to some extent if they were in a committed relationship, but based on what he said it sounds like she's the only person he's met off hinge." And a third said: "Idgaf [I don't give a f***] about hook ups btw but agree he's allowed to say he's not keen to continue things with her without her losing her mind like this. Hopefully the police help him." 4 Tak appeared on Love Island Australia in 2022 Credit: Nine Advertisement

Reddit sues AI startup Anthropic for allegedly using data without permission

June 4 (Reuters) - Reddit (RDDT.N), opens new tab sued the artificial intelligence startup Anthropic on Wednesday, accusing it of stealing data from the social media discussion website to train its AI models despite publicly assuring it wouldn't. The complaint filed in San Francisco Superior Court is the latest battle over AI companies' alleged unauthorized use of third-party content. Anthropic's backers include (AMZN.O), opens new tab and Google parent Alphabet (GOOGL.O), opens new tab. "We disagree with Reddit's claims and will defend ourselves vigorously," an Anthropic spokesperson said. According to the complaint, Anthropic has resisted entering a licensing agreement even as it trained its Claude chatbot on Reddit content, despite assuring last July it had blocked its bots from accessing Reddit's platform. Reddit quoted Claude admitting it was "trained on at least some Reddit data" and did not know if that content was deleted. It also said Anthropic's bots have accessed or tried to access Reddit content more than 100,000 times, undermining the company's allegedly styling itself as an AI "white knight" committed to trust and honesty. "Anthropic refuses to respect Reddit's guardrails and enter into a license agreement," unlike Google and OpenAI, the complaint said. By scraping content and using it for commercial purposes, Anthropic violated Reddit's user policy and "enriched itself to the tune of tens of billions of dollars," the complaint added. In a statement, Reddit Chief Legal Officer Ben Lee said "we believe in an open internet," but AI companies need "clear limitations" on how they use content they scrape. Reddit and Anthropic are based in San Francisco, about a 10-minute walk from each other. The lawsuit seeks unspecified restitution and punitive damages, and an injunction prohibiting Anthropic from using Reddit content for commercial purposes. Anthropic introduced its newest Claude models, Opus 4 and Sonnet 4, on May 22. Overall annualized revenue has reached $3 billion, two people familiar with the matter said last week. The case is Reddit Inc v Anthropic PBC, California Superior Court, San Francisco County, No. CGC-25-524892.
