Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, who was put on leave by his company, after his video canoodling with the HR chief Kristin Cabot at a Coldplay concert went viral, has resigned. Astronomer issued a statement Saturday announcing that the Board of Directors has accepted the resignation.Andy Byron might have to shed millions and his wife Megan Kerrigan could end up a very rich woman if she decides to dump him and take the divorce. This is because of Massachusetts's 50/50 marital laws and she could take home half of her husband's millions, estimated to be anywhere from $20 million to $70 million, reports New York PostMatrimony and family lawyer Nancy Chemtob, a partner at Chemtob Moss Forman & Beyda told NY post that Massachusetts law makes it mandatory for those married for more than seven years must split any assets they built together. 'It's obviously a long-term relationship,' she said of Byron and Kerrigan. The state rules mean ex-Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, a firm he helped build, could have to shell out tens of millions to Kerrigan, Chemtob said. It is to be noted that Megan instantly switched to her maiden name on social media after word of her spouse's kiss-cam canoodling with his company's top human resources exec set the internet ablaze. While the Coldplay concert video could serve as evidence at trial, it's not necessary to dissolve the marriage in Massachusetts. However, Kristin Cabot might not have the same financial dilemma in the face of divorce, Chemtob noted. Reason? This is because she and her apparent husband Privateer Rum owner Andrew Cabot, seem to have been together a relatively short time. The details can get much dicier if either couple had prenuptial or postnuptial agreements, Chemtob noted.Still, if any marital funds were misused to finance an extramarital affair, it could significantly impact the financial terms of a future divorce, Combs pointed out.Ultimately, it's the couple's children who suffer the most in situations like this, Chemtob added. 'I think the worst thing in this case is the embarrassment factor for the kids,' she explained.'The problem here is that now, the kids are embarrassed, the families are embarrassed, and there's going to be a lot of expenses with regard to therapy for the children, getting separate homes, things like that.'Andy Byron and Astronomer's HR chief Kristin Cabot attended the Coldplay concert in Boston Wednesday night which captured them canoodling together, drawing the attention of the audience. When they saw themselves on the big screen, they ducked the camera and got awkward. Even Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin couldn't help but quip from the stage, "Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy," and added, "I hope we didn't do something bad."The buzzworthy video that took TikTok and other social media by storm captured Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot as they swiftly dodged the camera at the stadium. The video snowballed into an unprecedented Internet frenzy as social media users looked them up and found out everything about their personal and professional lives. They were placed on leave as Astronomer announced an investigation into the issue and named Pete DeJoy as the acting CEO.

Will Trump ease tariffs based on market sentiment? Kevin Hassett clears the air on future plans
Live Events Hassett hails tariff deals (You can now subscribe to our (You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel Days after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order that modified tariff rates for dozens of countries, National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said on Sunday (August 3, 2025) that a market reaction to tariff policies will not deter the US President from proceeding with his plans to levy fees on an interview on NBC News, Kevin Hassett responded to a question on whether Trump could change the tariff rates again if the market reacted as it did in April, when the tariff announcement sent stocks tumbling. Responding to a question on the future tariff rate change, Hassett said, 'The markets have seen what we're doing and celebrated them, so I don't see how that would happen.'Host of NBC News's 'Meet the Press' Kristen Welker pressed Hassett: 'OK, but not ruling it out?' 'No, I would rule it out,' Hassett responded. 'Because these are the final deals,' he saidThe US president signed an executive order that changed tariff rates for dozens of countries after twice postponing plans to implement 'reciprocal' tariffs on other nations. Tariff rates now range from as high as 41 percent on goods from Syria to as low as 10 percent. According to the executive order signed by Trump, all imports will face a 10 percent tariff, effective August countries have separately negotiated trade deals to set their tariff rates, including Indonesia and Thailand, which agreed to a 19 percent tariff. Meanwhile, South Korea and Japan secured 15 percent rates, and the United Kingdom finalized a 10 percent tariff. Other nations that did not negotiate deals are set to face higher the tariff deals struck by Trump, Hassett said that those rates are 'more or less locked in' as other countries are expected to continue to press for negotiations, even after the tariffs kick in.'We have eight deals that cover about 55 percent of world GDP with our biggest trading partners, the EU, Japan, Korea, and so on,' Hassett said. 'I expect that those matters are more or less locked in, although there will have to be some dancing around the edges about exactly what we mean when we do this or that,' he added.'For the deals that aren't ready yet, they're going to get the reciprocal rates soon, and then we would expect that there might continue to be negotiations with those countries,' he continued.

Technical snag: Air India cancels Singapore-Chennai flight; offers refunds and hotel stay
Representative image Air India on Sunday cancelled its Singapore to Chennai flight AI349 following a technical issue that required extended maintenance work. The flight, scheduled to be operated using an Airbus A321, was grounded after a pre-departure check flagged the problem. In a statement issued on Sunday, the airline said, 'Flight AI349 scheduled to operate from Singapore to Chennai has been cancelled due to a maintenance task identified prior to departure, which required additional time for rectification.' As per news agency PTI, arrangements are underway to fly the affected passengers to Chennai at the earliest. The airline is offering hotel accommodation and has assured full refunds or complimentary rescheduling, depending on each passenger's preference. Air India also said that its ground staff in Singapore are making "every possible effort" to minimise inconvenience for the passengers caused by this unforeseen disruption. This latest cancellation adds to a spate of recent technical snags reported on Air India aircraft. On Thursday, a Delhi-London flight (AI2017) operated on an ex-Vistara Boeing 787 Dreamliner had to return to the terminal after the pilots suspected a technical issue. 'The cockpit crew decided to discontinue the take-off run following standard operating procedures and brought the aircraft back for precautionary checks,' an Air India spokesperson said. An alternative Dreamliner was later arranged for the journey. Similarly, on July 25, an Air India Express flight bound for Doha was forced to return to Calicut airport due to a fault in the cabin air conditioning system. 188 passengers were on board, and the flight landed safely after two hours in the air. The airline later provided food and water to passengers and arranged a replacement aircraft. Stay informed with the latest business news, updates on bank holidays and public holidays .
