The best lido in Britain is in south London
Lidos often require pre-booking (unless you fancy an hours-long queue – or getting turned away entirely), so you want to make sure you're going to the best of the best. That's why the AA has decided to do some serious research to figure out the best lidos in the country. The good news? The best lido in Britain is right here in London.
The AA was pretty thorough in its search for the nation's favourite outdoor pool. The company combined data from Google searches, Google review scores, amount of Instagram hashtags used, entry and parking fees, average temperature, and hours of sunlight in summer. All that info was then combined to give each lido an average score out of 100.
So where should you be heading next time a heatwave strikes? According to the AA, Brockwell Lido, which achieved an overall score of 82.9/100. We're not surprised – it's only been a couple of weeks since we at Time Out reached the exact same conclusion, saying Brockwell is the city's top pool. So what's the fuss about?
Regulars love that the lido doubles up as a great spot to sunbathe, and that it features a Grade II-listed art deco building, dating back to the 1930s. It's also home to a cute café you can pop into once you've done enough swimming in the bright blue 50m long pool, and boasts a sauna.
The next London lido on the AA's chart was also south of the river: Tooting Bec Lido got a score of 76.4 and placed second overall. Coming in at a whopping 91m, TBL is the UK's longest freshwater outdoor swimming pool, and it's set against a wall of gorgeous colourful changing huts. You will also need to book ahead here to get a swimming slot.
Securing fourth best in the country, and third in the capital, was London Fields Lido. Its score of 71.3 was largely due to being one of the warmest in the country, due to it being one of the few heated outdoor pools in the city. Although that may not be necessary at present, it makes for a very pleasant swim most of the time.
Hampstead Heath ponds and Hampton pool also made it into the nation's top 10 at sixth and eighth place respectively. Clearly, we're spoiled for choice for great lidos here in the capital.

Paris Fury says her kids 'test' her amid controversial detail in family photo
Tyson Fury and Paris Fury took their kids away to the Isle of Man over the weekend for a holiday alongside the boxer's brother Tommy Fury, Molly Mae Hague and Bambi A family photo from their weekend away has been shared by Paris Fury today. She visited the Isle of Man with her husband Tyson Fury and their children, who she's now teased "love to test" her when it comes to taking photos. Paris, 35, headed to the island with Tyson and their kids last week for what she has since described as a "good weekend". Her brother-in-law Tommy Fury, his partner Molly-Mae Hague and their daughter Bambi were also on the trip. The author has shared updates on Instagram in recent days, including posting photos and videos from the holiday. Alongside a yellow heart emoji, Paris wrote in the caption of a photo that showed her, Tyson and their kids: "My tribe." It showed them stood in an outdoor area whilst on the trip. Paris and Tyson were seen surrounded by their children Venezuela, Prince John James, Prince Tyson II, Valencia, Prince Adonis, Athena and Prince Rico Paris in the photo. Athena, four, appeared to hold up her middle finger, whilst Prince Tyson II, nine, seemed to present a similar gesture, in the photo shared this morning. It didn't go unnoticed as both Paris and fans reacted in the comments section. Paris told her followers that her children "love" to "test" her when it comes to posing for photos. Beside a rolling eyes emoji, she wrote underneath her post on the platform today: "My kids love to test me with them fingers." Despite her concerns, fans shared compliments over the photo. One wrote: "That is a lovely family photo." Someone else said: "Gorgeous family photo." A third wrote: "What a great family photo." Another said: "Love this photo." Others pointed out the gestures made by some of her kids. One wrote: "Always one. Lovely photo." Another said: "The finger at the end. Love it it's real life." Also appearing to react, someone else wrote: "Mine do exactly the same." It isn't the first time that some of her children have been seen giving the middle finger in content shared with fans on social media. Paris has previously been met with criticism over it and she addressed a backlash in October last year. As reported at the time, the criticism came after her son Adonis, then five, was seen displaying the gesture while playing in a pumpkin patch with some of his siblings. Paris shared a video of the moment and a photo on Instagram. Paris is said to have been heard in the video asking her kids to pose again as the first photo had been ruined by Adonis' action. She later referenced the clip when addressing criticism that she had faced after sharing such content. She wrote in a message at the time: "I share real life, people aren't perfect, kids aren't perfect, life ain't perfect but I don't pretend. I don't tell the kids to swear I learn them right (as you can hear on the original video) but if my pic of my kids has one not perfect, I still post cus I'm real."

The football star took to his Instagram page to share a carousel of the best parts from his break, which included boat trips, crocodiles, shopping, gym sessions and sunny days out. He captioned the post: "Sun, love, crocodiles, some fits and one advice." In one photo, he and Love Island host Maya posed for a mirror selfie in the elevator while surrounded by their endless suitcases. Maya stuck her hands up in peace signs and stuck her tongue out for the snap while Ruben simply furrowed his brows. READ MORE: Foodies beat the heat with £15 ice cream maker deal stack He also took a photo of her in a gas station shop while wearing a disposable rain poncho, a green visor and oversized sunglasses. She adapted to the Florida weather with flip flops and shorts. Maya posted a flaming heart emoji in the comment section and shared the gas station snap to her own Instagram Stories, adding: "When in Florida," along with a laughing emoji. It comes as it was revealed Maya won't be hosting the new season of Love Island Games as Peacock confirmed Love Island US presenter Ariana Madix would be replacing her as host. "Peacock announce Love Island Games season 2 premieres September 16th, this time with Ariana Madix as host," bosses announced. "It'll see all-star islanders from the UK, USA & Australia return for another game of love." It fuelled rumours the star could be leaving the franchise but bosses denied the reports and recently said: "We are very much committed to Maya, who is a brilliant Love Island host, and we have no plans for a presenter change." Meanwhile, the star could soon be adding another major project to her packed schedule, as she's reportedly in discussions with Prime Video to front a brand-new entertainment series focused on family connections. The 30-year-old is said to be in talks for what could be a lucrative deal with the streaming giant. A source previously told The Sun: "Maya is absolutely red-hot right now and she's been able to really diversify when it comes to projects." "The latest discussions have been with Prime Video over an entertainment show," they continued. "Amazon's streamer has made strong moves into reality with Clarkson's Farm and Molly Mae's series but so far haven't explored shiny-floor, entertainment programming, so Maya would be part of that. "The show, which is exploring family connections, might not be the project they press ahead with for Maya but the interest to work with her is there."

Fleur has taken to Instagram over the past week to share several snaps of the couple taking in the scenery on Western Australia 's stunning coast. They stopped off to take in the stunning crystal-blue waters overlooking Ningaloo Reef, Australia's largest fringing coral reef. The pair beamed from ear-to-ear as they posed for a quick hug together while standing on a sandy hill next to the beach. Brownless revealed on his Instagram that the pair had 'left Shark Bay without even seeing a single shark,' before revealing the one thing that left him amazed about Western Australia. 'I can't believe how big the Ants are over here,' he said. Fleur, 52, and Brownless, 58 then headed in-land for a tour of the Karijini National Park, which is nestled in the Hamersley Ranges. They posed for a snap in front of a lagoon on the Hamersley Gorge, with Brownless showing the couple scaling rocks and taking a dip in the lagoon. Earlier in the week, Brownless revealed the relationship question he posed to Crystle, asking: 'If I came with a warning label, what would it be?' But on Saturday, he published a set of images, along with a question and a picture of the sky. 'If you knew I'd never ask again, what truth would you finally tell me?' the question read. He captioned the post: 'Day five, six and seven of our big adventure!!! Coral Bay to Karijini National Park - Seven hours!! Breakfast at Bullara Station. We discovered Joffre Gorge where I sat and reflected.' Brownless admitted that camping was 'not so bad' while listing several other locations that they had visited. He then wrapped up the caption by writing: 'And finally the question... Help.' The pair then headed further north to Cable Beach. Fleur revealed that the pair had been out along the coast and had spent the day spotting humpback whales in the ocean. 'A little windswept but what an awesome day with humpback whales,' she wrote, having also shared a snap of the pair enjoying a cold beverage at the luxurious Cable Beach Club Resort. It comes after Fleur, a mum-of-three, had hinted that they would be marking their relationship milestone with 'their biggest adventure yet'. 'Happy 1st anniversary to this amazing man!' she added. The pair were congratulated on the milestone by many friends, family members and some big names from the footy world.
