Celebrating Cruinniú na nÓg 2025: Youth creativity takes centre stage with free events across Dublin
Get ready for a burst of imagination and youthful creativity at Cruinniú na nÓg 2025 on Saturday, June 7. Now in its eighth year, this national celebration showcases young people's creative expression through coding, circus, music, dance and much more.
There are over 1000 events across the country, with venues across Dublin getting in on the action.
Cruinniú na nÓg is an initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme, a culture-based initiative led by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media. As part of the Government's Shared Island initiative to enhance cooperation and connections across Ireland, Cruinniú na nÓg 2025 will include cross-community events for children and young people from the four corners of the island, featuring strategic partner projects Circus Explored, Youth Theatre Island and RTÉ This is Art! Wonder Walls are also joining as a strategic partner for 2025.
Ireland is the first, and only, country in the world to have a national day of free creativity for children and young people under 18, so make sure to explore what's happening in your local area!

Young People are invited to take over Swords Castle on June 7. From rising bands and solo acts to fresh new ensembles, this is a day about music, creativity and community. Watch featured acts on the Main Stage, perform on the spot on the Busking stage, step into the Chapel Session for poetry and unplugged sets, or simply craft your festival look at the Creative Village and soak in the vibes.
Step right up for a magical day of family fun at the Circus Picnic in the Park! As part of Cruinniú na nÓg, Dublin Circus Project are inviting families of all ages to enjoy a spectacular celebration packed with circus skills workshops, an unforgettable show, and a colourful community procession. Whether you're learning to juggle, enjoying a bite under the trees, or clapping along to amazing performers, there's something for everyone.
The Storytelling Through Photography and Presentation Workshop is a collaborative initiative between Dreamers Reality and Photo Ireland.
This one-day workshop is designed to empower young people aged 10-17, particularly those from underserved communities in Dublin, by equipping them with essential skills in photography, storytelling and presentation.
Following the success of The Night Is Young, a series of workshops for young DJs and bands, this showcase offers an opportunity for these young artists to showcase their talent.
This concert will feature the next generation of music makers and performers along with special guests. Head along for a Cruinniú na nÓg late event in collaboration with the Night-Time Economy Advisor and YMCA Dublin.
Step into Voyages, a unique exhibition curated by children, for children.
Led by artist and collaborator Róisín White, a group of 12 young people took part in six creative workshops to explore The Ark's visual art collection, learn about curation, and shape the final exhibition.
Voyages features artworks selected by the young curators for children aged 0–12. Voyages is an inclusive, creative celebration of children's ideas and imagination.
Unsung Youth is back and better than ever! This year for Cruinniú na nÓg the vibrant sounds of young musicians from across Ballyfermot and Cherry Orchard will fill the air at an electrifying open-air concert in People's Park, nestled beside the Civic Centre in Ballyfermot.
Unsung Youth isn't just a music festival – it's a celebration of community and creativity, giving the talented youth of Dublin 10 a chance to shine on stage.
Bands, solo artists, and music ensembles will grace the stage with a captivating mix of cover songs, original compositions, and classical pieces. From rock anthems to soulful ballads, there's something for everyone to enjoy at Unsung Youth. And thats not all: The evening will see theatrical talents on show as the Ballyfermot Youth Theatre take to the FamiliBase theatre stage to present a surprise performance!

Carlow schoolkids make their own radio shows for Cruinniú na nÓg
RTÉjr Radio have teamed up with a creative collective in Carlow to bring the drama for Cruinniú na nÓg this Saturday. Cruinniú na nÓg 2025, Ireland's national day of free creativity for children and young people takes place on Saturday, June 7. Muine Bheag Arts worked with students from St Brigid's NS, Muine Bheag in Carlow to develop, produce and record two radio plays, The Portal (2024) and The Curse of CountVlas (2025). Over the past two years they've led a series of hands-on workshops as part of Cruinniú na nÓg in which the students wrote the material for the plays, acted out the roles of all the characters, created foley sounds and learned how to use recording equipment. The Portal (2024) The Portal recounts the tale of the Murphy twins, Mince and Marmalade, along with their associate Benice, who travel through the portal in Dublin to New York on a mission to save Ireland from darkness. The Portal will play out on RTÉjr Radio at 10am this Saturday, with a repeat at 2pm. The Curse of Count Vlas (2025) The Curse of Count Vlas tells the story of four 6th class friends who embark on a spooky adventure to rescue their town from a greedy property developer, Count Vlas, who has put a strange curse on Grandad Noel's farm. The Curse of Count Vlas will play at 11am with a repeat at 3pm. DJ For A Day Plus, be sure to tune in at 4pm to hear the team behind Count Vlas select some of their favourite tunes to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg on DJ for a Day. Muine Bheag Arts is an artist-run organisation based in Carlow that engages with the local context to present projects in the public realm. The programme includes exhibitions, workshops, events, residencies, publishing and radio broadcasts. The organisation adopts a collaborative, welcoming and experimental approach and aims to foster dialogue between artists, audiences, community and place. Elton John says 'we will not back down' in awards speech addressing AI concerns
Elton John said "we will not back down" in an awards speech where he pleaded with the UK Government to "do the right thing" by strengthening copyright protections when artificial intelligence (AI) models learn from creatives' content. The UK Government has repeatedly rejected changes to the Data (Use and Access) Bill, proposed by the House of Lords, aimed at strengthening protections for the creative sector. Peers have attempted to amend the Bill by adding a commitment to introduce transparency requirements, aiming to ensure copyright holders are able to see when their work has been used and by who. Veteran rock singer Elton, 78, who picked up the Creators' Champion Award at Billboard's Global Power Players Event on Wednesday, is among hundreds of creatives who have raised concerns over AI companies using copyrighted work without permission. In an Instagram post he thanked the US magazine for the award and said: "Supporting the next generation of British artists is one of the major driving forces in my life. "As everyone in that room was aware, the Data Bill is currently looming over our industries and the future livelihood of all artists. It is an existential issue. "Earlier this evening, the Government was defeated for an unprecedented fifth time by the House of Lords who have backed the crucial amendment to the Bill. "I am now calling on the Government to do the right thing and get transparency added to the Bill. "Administration of copyright must be transparent. And it must have an artist's full permission. These two principles are the bedrock of our industry. They must be included in the data Bill as a backstop. "Let's be clear – we want to work with the Government. We are not anti AI. We are not anti big tech. We are not against Labour. We want a solution that brings all parties together in a way that's transparent, fair and allows artists to maintain control of their work. "We will not let the Government forget their promise to support our creative industries. We will not back down and we will not quietly go away. This is just the beginning. "Thank you, Billboard. And thank you Baroness Kidron and The House of Lords for standing up for our world-beating artists, journalists, playwrights, designers and authors."

Louth Youth Ambassador for Cruinniú na nÓg named as details of 2025 events revealed
Grace, who is also a member of member of M.A.D. Youth Theatre, has won a number of awards for her short films, and is an inspiration to other young people as to how they can express themselves through the arts. There will be no shortage of arts events for young people in Dundalk and surround areas to enjoy Saturday, June 7 as Cruinniú na nÓg 2025, hosted by Louth County Council has an exciting programme of events. In Dundalk, families can explore an archaeological dig at the County Museum, a buzzing programme at Redeemer FRC with a silent disco, messy play, and Lego fun, plus creative workshops at Bridge Street Studios including pottery, felting and watercolour painting. Creative Spark Downtown Hub will host Doodle Bots, natural pigment-making, and messy art with AAEX Teens. At Market Square, expect circus performances, mural workshops, spray painting, and much more. M.A.D. Youth Theatre will run workshops with local community groups, and SNAP will host a drama therapy session for their members. An Táin Arts Centre presents Rhythm is a Dancer, a collaborative live performance of original music and dance by young Louth talent, and a Night Time Economy Event featuring a live art performance of famous artwork recreations by M.A.D. Youth Theatre members. The centre will also showcase photography from Cruinniú workshops, WOWTH! county-wide art competition winning entries, and art by AAEX Teens and Pebble Lane Art Studio in their BasementGgallery workshop room from June 7 to 14.
