Why Tamil actor Vishal did not marry for so long? The real reason is about a building, close to his heart

Time of India20-05-2025

Tamil actor Vishal's decision to remain unmarried for years wasn't about personal hesitation, nor was it due to lack of love—it was a vow he made tied to a building. As the General Secretary of the Nadigar Sangam (South Indian Artistes' Association), Vishal had made a firm promise years ago that he would not marry until the new
Nadigar Sangam building
was completed. For him, this was not just a symbolic gesture—it was a commitment to his peers, to the association, and to a vision for the Tamil film industry's future. That vow is now fulfilled, and so, finally, is his heart.
About Nadigar Sangam's new building
The Nadigar Sangam building project has been a significant undertaking in the Tamil film industry. Planned as a modern facility to serve artists, the building's foundation was laid in 2017 by two industry legends—Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Located in the heart of Chennai on Habibullah Road in T. Nagar, the facility was designed to be a multi-purpose space that could cater to various needs of the film fraternity. It includes a 1000-seater auditorium for award functions, an 800-seat marriage hall, and a smaller 300-seat mini hall. These facilities are much-needed additions, given the lack of dedicated spaces for large-scale industry events and artist gatherings.
Despite the grand vision, the building faced repeated construction delays. However, it wasn't abandoned. Major stars like Vijay and Kamal Haasan each donated ₹1 crore from their personal funds to keep the dream alive. Actor Karthi was actively involved in overseeing the construction, and Vishal remained emotionally and personally invested in the project—so much so that he chose to pause his personal life until the building reached completion.
Finally Vishal says Yes to marriage
Fast forward to 2025—Vishal finally announced his wedding to actress Sai Dhanshika, bringing an end to both the wait and speculation. The couple revealed their plans at the audio and trailer launch of Dhanshika's upcoming film Yogi Da. The announcement wasn't a surprise to those close to them; the two have known each other for 15 years, sharing a strong bond of friendship that recently turned into love. Dhanshika has long admired Vishal's unwavering support and integrity, especially during difficult times in her life. Their relationship quietly matured, grounded in trust and mutual respect.

At the event, Vishal spoke warmly about the journey that led to their union. He acknowledged the vow he had made and his determination to see the Nadigar Sangam building through to completion before considering marriage. He even joked about keeping a chair at the construction site, refusing to leave until the job was done. His dedication to that promise spoke volumes not only about his character but also about his commitment to collective welfare over personal fulfillment.
With the building now almost ready and his vow fulfilled, Vishal is finally moving on to a new chapter—one that includes Dhanshika by his side. Their wedding is set for August 29. He described her as someone who truly understands him and shared his gratitude for having found love after such a long wait. Calling her his soulmate, he emphasized that their bond is strong and will only grow stronger with time.
Importantly, Vishal also made it clear that Dhanshika's career will not be put on hold post-marriage. He praised her talent and encouraged her to continue acting, underlining his progressive outlook and respect for her individuality. Their union, therefore, stands as both a personal milestone and a public message—about keeping promises, prioritizing responsibilities, and ultimately embracing love when the time is right.r."

‘Suriya 47': Suriya in talks with ‘Aavesham' director Jithu Madhavan for his next: reports

It seems like Tamil superstar Suriya is adding more projects to his already packed schedule. The actor is currently working on his films with RJ Balaji and Venky Atluri. Moreover, the actor also has Vaadivaasal with ace filmmaker Vetri Maaran in the line-up. Now, the latest is that the actor is reportedly in talks with Malayalam director Jithu Madhavan, best known for helming films like Romancham and Aavesham, for an upcoming film. According to a report by Cinema Express, the director has confirmed that he's in negotiations with the star. Other details remain unknown at the moment. This comes just days after Suriya began shooting for his upcoming movie with director Venky Atluri, tentatively called Suriya 46. The film features Mamitha Baiju as the female lead. Interestingly, Suriya also has the long-awaited Vaadivaasal in the line-up. Kalaipuli S Thanu, the producer of the movie, had told The Hindu in Aprilthat the film will get rolling from June; however, there hasn't been any update on the film as of now. Jithu Madhavan turned heads with his blockbuster debut feature, Romancham. The director followed it up with the widely acclaimed blockbuster Aavesham. Starring Fahadh Faasil, the film made over ₹150 crores at the box office. Notably, it was announced earlier this year that Jithu has penned Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram's upcoming film.

Highest-grossing Hindi film isn't even from Bollywood: How a 'regional' star beat Shah Rukh, Ranbir Kapoor, Salman Khan

For seven decades since recordkeeping on box office collections in India began, Hindi films have largely ruled the roost. The country's highest-grossing film was always from Bollywood in an unbroken chain from Kismet to Dangal. The dubbed versions of Tamil films began getting big numbers only if superstars like Kamal Haasan or Rajinikanth were in them. But, they were no match for Hindi films. All of it changed in 2017 when Baahubali scored big in the north, only for Shah Rukh Khan to wrestle back the crown six years later. But this false resurgence did not last long, and another 'regional' film beat Bollywood biggies to become the highest-grossing Hindi film. Not Stree 2, Pathaan, or Chhaava, the highest-grossing Hindi film is actually Pushpa 2: The Rule. The Hindi-dubbed version of the Telugu blockbuster earned ₹812 crore net in India alone. Trade pundits estimate that Pushpa 2 earned over ₹1000 crore gross worldwide with its Hindi version alone, more than half its total earnings of ₹1742 crore. The ₹812-crore haul was enough to help it dethrone Stree 2 as the highest-grossing Hindi film. The 2024 Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao film had netted ₹598 crore in India. For a dubbed film to be the highest-grosser in Hindi is a stupendous achievement. The Allu Arjun-starrer not just beat Stree 2, but also the biggest hits of several other stars like Shah Rukh Khan (Jawan - ₹582 crore), Ranbir Kapoor (Animal - ₹503 crore), Sunny Deol (Gadar 2 - ₹526 crore), Vicky Kaushal (Chhaava - ₹586 crore), Aamir Khan (Dangal - ₹387 crore), Salman Khan (Sultan - ₹339 crore), and Akshay Kumar (Good Newzz - ₹205 crore). Pushpa 2 managed it by being the heavily anticipated sequel to a film that had already done well in Hindi. Two other films had done this in the past. KGF Chapter 2 earned ₹435 crore in Hindi, and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion broke records with its ₹511-crore haul in Hindi. Pushpa 2 just used that template and pushed the boundaries beyond what had been done so far.
