Namma Metro Yellow Line to Open Soon After Safety Check

Hans India30-06-2025
The Yellow Line of Namma Metro, from R V Road to Bommasandra, may open soon. The final safety check will happen on July 15 and 16, said BMRCL officials.
Tests for the train's brakes and power system are already done.
The tracks and stations were finished over a year ago, but the opening was delayed because the trains arrived late. This line is made for driverless trains. One test train was checked in April by metro safety officers.
Before that, another group called RDSO tested the trains, tracks, and brakes.
The second test train came in January 2025, and the third came in May. All trains were tested many times.
After all systems were checked by safety experts, the line got the approval papers.
A BMRCL officer said the metro will start after final approval is given. The exact start date will be told by the state and central governments.
One more train will come in July to help with running the metro.
This Yellow Line is 18.8 km long and has 16 stations. It will help people travel better in south Bengaluru.

Bengaluru: Two More Driverless Coaches For Namma Metro's Yellow Line Dispatched From Bengal

Last Updated: Titagarh Rail speeds up delivery of new coaches as Bengaluru inches closer to the Yellow Line's grand August launch. Two more coaches for the Namma Metro's Yellow Line were dispatched on Monday night by Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), based in Bengal. These are part of the fourth trainset for the 19.15-km RV Road–Bommasandra stretch. Four more coaches are ready and set to leave on Tuesday. Together, all six coaches will form a complete driverless train. As per Deccan Herald, the dispatch had a slight hiccup due to heavy rainfall in Kolkata. Originally, three coaches were supposed to leave on Monday night, but only two made the journey. When Will the Trainset Reach Bengaluru? The trainset is expected to arrive in Bengaluru within the next two weeks. However, its journey depends on road conditions and traffic, since the coaches are transported on trailers with strict size and speed limits. Once it arrives, the trainset will undergo a two-week testing phase on the Yellow Line before it begins passenger service. Is the Yellow Line Finally Opening? BMRCL is preparing to open the much-awaited Yellow Line in August. The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety recently inspected the corridor, and his report is due any day now. The line is likely to open with three trains running every 20 minutes—regardless of peak hours. TRSL is building trains under a sub-contract with China's CRRC Nanjing Puzhen, who secured a Rs 1,578 crore deal for 36 trainsets. Of these, 15 are for the Yellow Line. BMRCL has already received four trains. The fifth trainset is scheduled for dispatch in August, and the sixth will follow by September. All 15 Yellow Line trains are expected to arrive by March 2026. Once that happens, the wait time during peak hours could drop to just five minutes. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Guntur railway division to get Kavach

GUNTUR: In a major step to improve railway safety, Indian Railways is set to implement the advanced 'Kavach' automatic train protection system across the Guntur Railway Division. Indigenously developed and approved by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), Kavach is designed to prevent collisions by automatically applying brakes in cases of signal overshoots or when two trains are on a collision course. The system serves as a digital safety shield, particularly crucial in case of low visibility or driver error. 'If a train fails to stop at a red signal or is at risk of a head-on collision, the system overrides manual controls and halts the train,' Guntur Divisional Railway Manager Sudeshna Sen told TNIE.
