Jagga Reddy dubs KCR family ‘Alibaba and 40 thieves'
Hyderabad: Telangana PCC working president Jagga Reddy on Friday described the KCR Family as 'Alibaba and 40 Thieves – Dubbaka MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy is one member'. At a press conference in Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress leader, referring to KCR, commented, 'You people are thieves, you had looted everything, and yet you blame the Congress government? The KCR family are experts in looting treasury. The Kaleshwaram loot is yours, the sand mafia is yours, the liquor mafia belongs to your family. The white people's pubs were run by your family. From Peddamma Gudi arch to Madhapur, isn't the liquor business run by KTR and Santosh? Harish slept near the Kaleshwaram project because he ate 30 per cent commission from it'. KCR family looted Rs 30,000 crore out of Rs 1 lakh crore allocated for Kaleshwaram project, he alleged. Reddy alleged that KCR family looted the State. 'Whatever they got, they took without any limit, but they speak as if they are virtuous saints. KCR family members are professors of corruption, they are experts at looting the treasury. They rob openly and then talk shamelessly. There's no difference between KCR's family and Alibaba's 40 thieves. When ministers want to do something for the people, there's no money because you people took it all and destroyed everything'. He added, 'Today, I wasn't supposed to attack KCR, but Prabhakar Reddy abused me; and you made me abuse KCR; KCR's daughter runs a big business; she opened a shop in Delhi; she ended Kejriwal's story. The entire KCR family has become a don's company. In land grabbing, the KCR family are experts. They haven't even spared lakes. They harassed Revanth Reddy so much. KCR harassed both Revanth and me; both of us are enemies of KCR's family - that's why. If Revanth acts like that, they'll get heart attacks. They even pushed police into Revanth Reddy's bedroom. If the police barged into your house, how would you feel? Compared to KCR's atrocities, Revanth is doing nothing. Is Revanth beating you? Is he abusing you? Revanth's intention is to expose KCR's atrocities. That is the Congress line'. Reddy further said: 'BJP is after Gandhi family. It's better to ignore its words; Rahul Gandhi's family protects all religions; The Gandhi family is constantly targeted by the BJP; The BJP wants to remove Gandhi's image from currency notes; The BJP's entire game is blackmail - always looking for someone to trap'.

Centre To Start Releasing Onion From 3 Lakh Tonnes Buffer Stock Next Month With Eye On Prices
New Delhi: The government has procured 3 lakh tonnes of onion this year for its price stabilisation buffer, and a calibrated release from the stocks is expected to start from September in order to keep prices under control, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution said on Friday. Pertinently, unlike previous years, prices of major vegetables like potato, onion and tomato are under control this monsoon season. In the case of potato and onion, higher production in 2024-25 over the previous year ensures sufficient supply and a substantially lower retail price than last year, the statement said. "Food commodity prices have largely remained stable and well-contained throughout the current calendar year. As of today, the prices of most commodities monitored by the Department of Consumer Affairs are exhibiting either a stable or declining trend on a year-on-year basis. The reported 14 per cent decrease in the cost of a homemade thali in July 2025 further reflects the continued moderation of food inflation during the month," the ministry said in a statement. The retail prices of tomatoes prevailing at various centres across the country are influenced by temporary localised factors rather than any fundamental demand-supply imbalance or production shortfall, the statement said. In this context, the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India (NCCF) has been procuring tomatoes from Azadpur Mandi since August 4 and is selling them to consumers at prices with minimal margins. A similar initiative was undertaken by the NCCF in previous years as well. To date, the NCCF has sold 27,307 kgs of tomatoes at retail prices ranging from Rs 47 to Rs 60 per kg, depending on the procurement cost. Retail sales are being conducted through the NCCF's stationary outlets at Nehru Place, Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk, and Rajiv Chowk, as well as through 6–7 mobile vans operating at various locations across the city, according to the official statement. The current average retail price of tomatoes in Delhi, at Rs 73 per kg, is primarily the result of heavy rainfall in the northern and north-western regions of the country since the last week of July. This weather-related disruption caused prices to spike to as high as Rs 85 per kg by the end of July. However, with the recovery and stabilisation of daily arrivals at the Azadpur mandi over the past week, both mandi and retail prices have begun to decline. In contrast, major cities such as Chennai and Mumbai, which have not experienced abnormal weather conditions in recent weeks, have not witnessed a similar price surge. The current average retail prices of tomatoes in Chennai and Mumbai are Rs 50 per kg and Rs 58 per kg, respectively -- substantially lower than the prevailing price in Delhi. At present, the all-India average retail prices of tomato is Rs 52 per kg, which is still lower than Rs 54 per kg last year and Rs 136 per kg in 2023, the statement added.

India's LPG Price Is Among Lowest In World Despite Imports: Hardeep Puri
New Delhi: Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted on Friday that India sells LPG at the cheapest prices in the world, despite being an importer, enabling more than 10.33 crore Ujjwala families to cook food at just Rs 6 per day due to the affordable fuel. "Our energy sector oil marketing companies suffered heavy losses to make LPG available to kitchens at nearly half the cost at which it was being sold in the countries in our neighbourhood," the minister said. He pointed out that even when LPG prices soared by 63 per cent in the international market amid global uncertainty, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policy insulated Indian households against the price rise and ensured they didn't feel any negative impact. The minister said that by making LPG available at a price lower than cost, the public sector oil marketing companies have suffered underrecoveries to the tune of approximately Rs 41,000 crore during the financial year 2024-25. Friday's Cabinet decision paves the way for partial reimbursement of Rs 30,000 crore to the public sector oil companies against these under-recoveries. The Union Cabinet, chaired by PM Modi, has decided that Rs 30,000 crore will be paid in twelve parts to the public sector oil companies, which have kept the LPG prices stable. The compensation, which will be divided amongst the three energy sector oil marketing companies - Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum - will support the financial health of these companies, which ensure availability, affordability and sustainability of energy supply for the citizens of the country in difficult geopolitical times and uncertainties, the minister said. "In the last 11 years of the Narendra Modi government, we have witnessed a major transformation in India's energy landscape, with special focus on providing access to clean energy to the masses," Puri said. The minister said that about 56 lakh domestic LPG cylinders are delivered every day, about 6 crore consumers visit retail outlets every day across the country, and to strengthen the availability of fuel in rural areas, of the total LPG distributors added during the last decade, around 86 per cent are rural distributors. The LPG pipe network has also been strengthened. LPG pipelines of about 3,000 km have been laid since 2014. The Kandla-Gorakhpur LPG pipeline is the world's largest LPG pipeline of 2,805 km, and the Paradip-Haldia-Motihari pipeline of 1,707 km is under construction, the minister added.
