Casio to release MR-G inspired by world's largest frog
The FROGMAN shock-resistant diver's watch is known for its asymmetric design, crafted to allow unrestricted wrist movement underwater. The MRG-BF1000R, released in 2023, brought this unique form to life with a highly water-resistant titanium case. Its meticulous construction, including a polished finish down to the finest details, has earned it high praise.
Building on the MRG-BF1000R, the new MRG-BF1000RG draws inspiration from the goliath frog — the world's largest frog — found in the tropical rainforests of West Africa. Its colors and design evoke a spirit of adventure, capturing the thrill of exploring untamed wilderness.
The khaki band, inspired by the coloring on the back of the goliath frog, is made with a soft, highly flexible fluoro rubber material, ensuring a comfortable fit. The beige indexes, evoking the coloring on the frog's underside, are coated with Neobrite for excellent visibility even in low-light conditions. The titanium screw-lock case back is fitted with a sapphire crystal, finished with a vibrant green vapor deposition inspired by the eye of the Goliath frog, and maintains a highly water-resistant structure while preserving the built-in antenna's radio wave reception sensitivity.
In dive mode, the hour and minute hands overlap to form a single hand, providing an intuitive, easy-to-read display of time spent underwater. Three dual-coil motors enable swift hand movement, allowing users to switch quickly from current time display to dive time display — making this a truly practical diver's watch.

Casio to release EDIFICE featuring forged carbon
Casio Computer Co Ltd has announced the release of the latest addition to the EDIFICE line of timepieces based on the brand concept of 'Speed & Intelligence.' The new EFK-100CD is a mechanical watch that, for the first time in the EDIFICE line, incorporates forged carbon — a material renowned for its strength and lightweight properties. It is a mechanical timepiece that, for the first time in the EDIFICE line, employs forged carbon — a lightweight and high-strength material used in high-end sports cars and custom automotive parts — for the dial. Forged carbon creates a truly one-of-a-kind appearance in each timepiece, as carbon fiber blended into the resin forms unique, random surface patterns. The simple dial design, with just three hands and a date display, highlights the distinctive character of forged carbon. Also for the first time in a Casio timepiece, the watch is equipped with a mechanical movement. Casio incorporated this into the EDIFICE line to reflect the shared dynamism and joy of driving and mechanical timekeeping. The see-through case back reveals the movement in motion, where refined mechanical beauty echoes the aesthetics of car engines and suspension systems. The movement delivers a power reserve of approximately 40 hours when fully wound. Price: 74,800 yen © Japan Today

Casio to release new MT-G featuring original frame co-created by humans and AI
Casio Computer Co Ltd has announced the latest addition to the G-SHOCK brand of shock-resistant watches: the MTG-B4000. This new timepiece features a distinctive frame developed in a process of collaboration between human designers and AI technology. The MTG-B4000 joins the MT-G line of timepieces, all of which utilize a unique construction that makes the most of the properties of both metal and resin. Driven by its Purpose — 'Through the power to put wonder at hand, bring new levels of joy to lives one by one' — Casio continues to create new value the world has never seen before. With the G-SHOCK MT-G line, Casio continues to push the boundaries of shock-resistant construction by combining different materials, resulting in practical and original designs that go beyond conventional norms. The new MTG-B4000 is a shock-resistant watch featuring a distinctive frame that was developed in a process of collaboration between human designers and generative AI and uses a combination of different materials. For the first time in a Casio consumer timepiece, generative AI technology was integrated into the development process. In pursuit of innovative craftsmanship, designers employed this advanced technology as a creative tool to explore new design possibilities and conquer the challenge of realizing a complex, unconventional structure which would have been difficult to achieve using traditional methods. Starting with design proposals from human designers, AI conducted load simulations using decades of accumulated data on shock-resistant construction for G-SHOCK. It then proposed optimal structural configurations by evaluating factors such as structural strength, material characteristics, and machinability. These AI-generated designs were refined through repeated testing and adjustments by skilled human hands, resulting in a frame that delivers the G-SHOCK signature ruggedness with a distinctive, unconventional aesthetic only achievable through AI collaboration. A new approach was also introduced by integrating the band connection parts into the frame. This allows the frame to directly absorb loads applied to the band, reducing impact on the center case and further enhancing shock resistance. The frame is cut out from a base material consisting of laminated carbon and glass fiber sheets, resulting in a beautiful layered pattern visible from the side. The top of the bezel features finely finished surfaces, including areas treated with Sallaz polishing, giving the watch a refined appearance with a strong sense of depth and detail from every angle. Toyota's new RAV4 makes world premiere in Japan
Toyota Motor Corp on Wednesday unveiled its new RAV4 to the world, with plans to launch the model in Japan before the end of FY2025. The RAV4 had its beginnings in 1994, when sport utility vehicles (SUVs) were positioned as off-road vehicles. It pioneered the crossover SUV genre for both on-and off-road driving. Launched in 2019, the fifth-generation RAV4 was developed to further enhance its unique appeal as a model for new lifestyles. It was developed on the concept of a "Robust Accurate Vehicle with 4 Wheel Drive" as a sophisticated blend of the power and utility of an SUV. It also adopted a new platform based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), Toyota's structural innovation within the automobile manufacturing process. It delivered responsive driving performance with maneuverability and stability for any road surface. Toyota said that under the concept of "Life is an Adventure," this sixth-generation RAV4 seeks to become a vehicle that allows any driver to enjoy an active lifestyle. The driving experience has been advanced with a newly developed hybrid system that enhances acceleration. The key to advancing vehicle intelligence is Arene, Toyota's first software development platform. By utilizing Arene, Toyota aims to achieve a greater level of safety and peace of mind, as well as enrich the mobility experience to make the new RAV4 a companion that fits seamlessly into various lifestyles, whether in urban living or outdoor adventures.
