Diamond worker dies by suicide after alleged blackmail by wife's lover
Surat: A 36-year-old diamond worker jumped to his death from the terrace of his apartment building, allegedly due to harassment by his wife's boyfriend. The victim had a suicide note in his pocket.
It alleges that the man who delivered milk to his house had filmed a video with his wife and used it to blackmail and harass him. Katargam police have booked the milkman for abetment to suicide.
According to the FIR filed by the victim's brother, the 36-year-old man lived with his 35-year-old wife and two children, 10 and 6. The complainant received a call from a relative on Tuesday afternoon informing him that his younger brother had jumped off the terrace.
He rushed to the site and found his brother dead.
A week ago, the complainant went to the victim's house after the victim told him that a milkman named Prakash Rabari, who had been delivering milk there for a year, had an affair with his wife. This led to quarrels between the couple. For the past three months, he had also stopped getting milk from Rabari, who allegedly also offered milk at a cheaper rate to his house than to other flats.
Rabari had allegedly filmed an intimate video of himself and the victim's wife and threatened to make it viral. Rabari also allegedly threatened to force him to kill himself. The victim had also told his sister-in-law about his wife's alleged affair with Rabari on June 22.
After the victim jumped off the terrace, a two-page written note was found in his pocket. It states, "Prakash Rabari, who comes to our society, had shot an intimate video with my wife. Rabari blackmails me over the video and threatens to make it viral."
Based on the note, Katargam police booked Rabari for abetment to suicide under BNS Section 108 and began an investigation.
