Dr Wan Azizah calls on girl guides to prioritise human capital development
PPPM president, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said that to date, the association has successfully capitalised on its core strengths in networking, teamwork, unity and inclusivity.
'I sincerely hope that the collaborative networks established thus far will continue and be further enhanced in the future for more impactful programmes, for the benefit and progress of us all.
'On behalf of PPPM, I would also like to extend our highest appreciation to our strategic partners who have contributed, especially Istana Negara, the Kelantan government, the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Kelantan Palace and other parties,' she said in her speech at the 'Majlis Makan Malam bersama Wan Azizah' dinner event here on Wednesday (May 21).
Also in attendance was the sister of the Sultan of Kelantan, Tengku Amalin A'ishah Putri Sultan Ismail Petra, who is PPPM Kelantan Branch president.
Dr Wan Azizah, who is also the wife of the Prime Minister, called on PPPM leaders to preserve the association by continuing their noble efforts and maintaining a positive spirit in advancing the organisation to greater heights.
'Organise more beneficial programmes and activities, and involve more parties to optimise available resources, thereby strengthening unity and cooperation among us,' she said.
The dinner was held as a gesture of appreciation and to symbolise the successful hosting of the four-day 60th Annual Conference and General Assembly of PPPM, which started on May 19.

Decision date set for Chegubard's sedition case
KUALA LUMPUR: Port Dickson Bersatu division chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin will know on Nov 4 whether he has to enter his defence or walk away free from the charge of making seditious remarks that could tarnish the good name of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. Sessions Court judge Norma Ismail fixed the date to deliver her decision during the hearing yesterday. 'The court sets Sept 9 for the filing of written submissions, Oct 9 for any counter-submissions and Nov 4 for the decision on the prosecution's case,' Norma said. Earlier in the proceedings, deputy public prosecutor Nursyuhada Husna Sulaiman informed the court that the prosecution was closing its case after the completion of the investigating officer's testimony, who is the final prosecution witness. Four prosecution witnesses were called to testify since the trial began on May 16, including the complainant from Istana Negara, two witnesses from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the investigating officer. On April 29, 2024, Badrul Hisham, 45, also known as Chegubard, was charged with issuing a defamatory statement, which he had reason to believe would tarnish the good name of the King. The charge under Section 500 of the Penal Code carries a maximum sentence of two years' imprisonment or a fine, or both, if convicted.

Nov 4 decision on Chegubard's sedition case defence
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sessions Court today fixed Nov 4 to decide whether Bersatu Port Dickson division chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin will enter his defence or be acquitted in a sedition case. Judge Norma Ismail scheduled the date after deputy public prosecutor Nursyuhada Husna Sulaiman confirmed the prosecution had closed its case. 'The court has set Sept 9 for written submissions, Oct 9 for counter-submissions, and Nov 4 for the decision,' said the judge. Badrul Hisham, represented by counsel Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali, faces charges over remarks allegedly tarnishing the King's reputation. Four prosecution witnesses, including an Istana Negara complainant and MCMC officers, testified since the trial began on May 16.
