‘Concerned' Charles Barkley might reach out to Bill Belichick after CBS interview debacle with Jordon Hudson
It appears those in Bill Belichick's orbit are growing worried about the Super Bowl-winning coach in the aftermath of his awkward CBS interview and his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson's role in it.
Charles Barkley, the Basketball Hall of Famer and 'Inside the NBA' star, said on 'The Dan Patrick Show' on Wednesday that he's 'concerned' about the 73-year-old Belichick, whom Barkley says he's been friends with since Belichick coached the Browns in the early '90s.
'Well, this is a very slippery subject for me because Bill's one of my really good friends. I'm not sure what's going on. He's been a great friend for me for a long time,' Barkley said. 'I think he's gotta be very careful right now. This is starting to be on a very slippery slope. He's the greatest football coach ever, him and Nick Saban — for college, Nick Saban; for Bill, the NFL. Yeah, from what I'm hearing, it's starting to be a very slippery slope.'

Barkley, 62, says he doesn't like to discuss people's personal relationships, though the normally private Belichick's relationship with Hudson has been very out in the open with public appearances and social media updates.
'I will admit I'm a little concerned with some of the stuff that's going on, and I might actually reach out to him to make sure everything's good,' Barkley said. 'But I am concerned from what I'm hearing. It's not a good look right now, I'll admit that.'
Hudson interrupted Belichick's interview with 'CBS Sunday Mornings' this past weekend when the UNC football coach was asked how the couple met.

'We're not talking about this,' said Hudson, who reportedly interrupted the interview multiple times.
Belichick lashed out at CBS in a statement released Wednesday, claiming the network 'selectively edited' the interview and did not live up to agreement to focus only on what's in his new book.
CBS fired back later Wednesday, saying there was no such agreement.

Paramount controlling shareholder Shari Redstone diagnosed with thyroid cancer
Media mogul Shari Redstone, CBS parent Paramount's controlling shareholder, has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. "Shari Redstone was diagnosed with thyroid cancer earlier this spring. While it has been a challenging period, she is maintaining all professional and philanthropic activities throughout her treatment, which is ongoing. She and her family are grateful that her prognosis is excellent," Redstone's spokesperson told Fox News Digital. The 71-year-old has frequently been in the news this year as she seeks the Trump administration's approval of a multibillion-dollar planned merger with Skydance Media and has given lawyers the green light to settle President Donald Trump's election interference lawsuit against CBS News, although no deal has been reached. Redstone wanted the opinion of doctors "about two months ago after experiencing fatigue and other symptoms," according to The New York Times, which first reported the diagnosis. She underwent surgery in May. The Times noted that she was quickly diagnosed and surgeons removed her thyroid gland but were unable to remove all the cancer cells because they'd spread to her vocal cords. Redstone controls more than three-quarters of Paramount's Class A voting shares through National Amusements, the company she took control of in 2016 when her media mogul father, Sumner Redstone, was deemed too incapacitated to run the company. He died in 2020. Redstone, who recused herself from settlement discussions related to the Trump lawsuit in February, isn't thrilled with being tied up in litigation with the sitting president and wants to get things resolved. Fox News Digital confirmed last week that Trump rejected a $15 million offer to settle his lawsuit. The talks are ongoing, but the president's legal team is demanding at least $25 million and an apology from CBS News. Many industry insiders believe the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will wait until the lawsuit is in the rearview mirror before deciding if the planned merger with Skydance Media will be approved. Redstone is set for a significant windfall if she's able to flip Paramount to Skydance. Bloomberg reported last year that she would receive $180 million in severance on top of the roughly $350 million she would pocket from the merger. Skydance Media CEO David Ellison, who would take control of CBS as head of the newly formed Paramount Skydance Corp. if the merger is finalized, was aware of Redstone's cancer diagnosis, according to the Times.

This year's Red Sox head into a weekend series with their arch rivals, the New York Yankees, at 30-34, two wins behind last year's pace. Perhaps fortunately, the Yankees also got off to a slow start, so the Red Sox are now nine games off New York's pace at the top of the division, compared to 12 1/2 games at the same point last season. On Thursday, Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow appeared on WEEI and was asked about Cora's future. While he did not say Cora's job was in danger, he didn't exactly give the 49-year-old manager a ringing endorsement either. Cora missed the COVID-shortened 2020 season as he served a one-year suspension for his role in the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal when he was bench coach for that team. Cora returned to the Red Sox in 2021 and led an overachieving roster to 92 wins, a wild card postseason spot, and all the way to the AL Championship Series, where they lost to the Astros in six games. Otherwise, in his five full seasons as Red Sox manager since the triumphant 2018 campaign, Cora has posted only two more winning seasons: 2021 and 2019, when the Red Sox slumped to a third-place finish, and failed to qualify for the playoffs with an 84-78 record — 24 games behind their regular season record the previous year.
