
Neverwinter MMO Adding New Module Inspired By The D&D Movie

Today, Arc Games revealed the next upcoming module for the Neverwinter MMO is named Red Harvest and it features a brand-new Adventure Zone with maps directly inspired by the excellent (and underrated) Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves film.
Taking notes from the film, this new module will depict the Red Wizards of Thay as you help lead a resistance movement alongside Sergeant Knox and the Harpers. The main draw of this module will be the new Adventure Zone: Tyraturos, Tower District. Verticality will play a key role here as you traverse multiple neighborhoods and ascend a massive tower, completing quests.
There's also a new Trial, Shackles of Divinity, which is described as a 'return to the epic, mechanics-driven boss battles that define Neverwinter's most legendary trials,' so that should be a big hit for fans. You'll be able to play this new trial on either Normal mode, which is included in the random trial queue for matchmaking, Advanced Mode, which is a little bit harder, and Master Mode, which puts a heavy emphasis on mastering the trial's mechanics with heavily ramped up difficulty.
On top of all the new content, there is of course a slew of new things to buy if you so desire like a new BattlePass dubbed Dead to Rites, various Red Harvest bundles and packs, as well as generalized bundles with other cosmetics and perks.

Personally, it's been a while since I played Neverwinter. I remember when the game first launched years ago and sinking a ton of time into the main campaign, returning for some new classes over the years, and dabbling in it here and there over time. There's just a ton of content at this point to sink your teeth into and it's always had a good reputation.
The ability to drop-in and out over time without feeling like you're wasting money or shirking a commitment is a big part of what makes free-to-play MMOs appealing. I'm definitely not a 'one-game-only' kind of a guy.
One of the main things that always appealed to me about Neverwinter is that they do a wonderful job of capturing the tone and feel of the Forgotten Realms, but it doesn't get bogged down in trying to stick to the rulesets of tabletop Dungeons & Dragons too strictly. Combat is more action-packed and fast-paced than a typical D&D video game, but they've still adapted the rules to include the features you'd expect. It's just a very solid and easy to pick-up-and-play interpretation with fun gameplay.
The new Red Harvest module launches for Neverwinter on May 6 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

'Stranger Things' Season 5 release dates revealed: Episode titles, cast members — and what we know so far about the final season's release
Our favorite Indiana teens are coming back for one more round of interdimensional drama. Stranger Things is set to return this year for its fifth and final season, and with it, a continuation of the story that put fan favorites like Sadie Sink's Max in grave danger after a battle with Jamie Campbell Bower's villain Vecna. With so many questions still unanswered (will Max ever wake up from her coma? What will happen to the town of Hawkins now that the Upside Down is invading?!), it's hard to believe we're nearing the end of Stranger Things. Since its debut in the summer of 2016, the series has built a world filled with supernatural suspense, iconic characters (RIP Eddie!) and ride-or-die friendships. It's also a love letter to all things '80s, celebrating everything from Dungeons & Dragons to hanging at the roller rink — all with an epic synth soundtrack. Soon, we'll all be wistful for the series that made nostalgia cool. Here's everything we know so far about the upcoming season of Stranger Things. Season 4 of Stranger Things followed the Hawkins crew as they tried to stop Vecna, a powerful new villain with ties to Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). Vecna, once known as Henry Creel, was the first child experimented on by Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) in the Hawkins lab, but after Eleven defeated him as a child, he was sent to the Upside Down. At the beginning of the season, Vecna exacted his revenge with a string of teen murders, leading the gang to team up to defeat him. Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Max, Eleven, Will (Noah Schnapp), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Robin (Maya Hawke) worked together across different locations and dimensions to stop Vecna, but unfortunately, it didn't go quite as well as they hoped: In the season finale, Vecna's still around, Max is in a coma and the Upside Down is starting to take over the real world. Expect the holidays to get a little stranger this year. The first four episodes of the season, coined "Volume 1," will drop on Nov. 26 — the day before Thanksgiving. "Volume 2," with three episodes, is slated to drop on Christmas. The show won't release its final episode, "Volume 3," until New Year's Eve. This marks the first time that the series will release just one episode separately from the rest of the show — meaning that the last episode will be an event all its own. Each part is slated to drop at 5 p.m. PT on its release date. Netflix is planning on dropping all of these episodes at the same time worldwide. Stranger Things Season 5 will consist of eight episodes — and we already know their names. The final season of Stranger Things features eight episodes titled 'The Crawl,' 'The Vanishing of …,' 'The Turnbow Trap,' 'Sorcerer,' 'Shock Jock,' 'Escape from Camazotz,' 'The Bridge' and 'The Rightside Up.' While we don't know how long each Stranger Things episode will be, Wolfhard, who plays Mike, told Collider that while some episodes run closer to 45 minutes, we should expect others to be as long as a feature film. That checks out, given the longer runtime of Season 4's episodes — including the finale, which clocked in at two hours and 24 minutes. Ross Duffer, who cocreated the series with his brother Matt Duffer, said at the Next on Netflix event in January that they spent a full year filming the season, and that, by the end, they had captured over 650 hours of footage. 'So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet,' he said. 'It's like eight blockbuster movies. It's pretty, pretty insane.' And Bower previously told Netflix that while Season 4 of the show was 'big,' the show's final season 'definitely feels bigger.' Stranger Things is adding new cast members Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly and Alex Breaux to the show's final season. And staying true to its pattern of casting '80s icons — like its star Winona Ryder and cast members like The Goonies star Sean Astin and Aliens' Paul Reiser — the series has also cast The Terminator's Linda Hamilton in a role that is still under wraps. Netflix released a short teaser for the upcoming season with its release date. While most of the clips are from previous seasons, we do get a sprinkle of new footage — including Will staring up at something big and shouting "Run!" Gulp. The show also released a behind-the-scenes video from the filming of the upcoming season. Matt Duffer revealed in a press release earlier this year that the new season has 'no time for a ramp-up,' meaning it's 'going to be intense from beginning to end.' And Ross noted that the new season will feel 'familiar' to longtime fans of the series. 'This season is the biggest it's ever been in scale, but everyone's back together in Hawkins, interacting the same way they were in Season 1.' According to the official Stranger Things episode title announcement, Season 5 picks up in the fall of 1987, more than a year after Season 4, which unfolds in March of 1986. But eagle-eyed fans noticed something quite interesting in footage of Harbour and Wolfhard filming Stranger Things in Atlanta, which is a stand-in for downtown Hawkins. On the set, there is reportedly a movie theater advertising Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade — a movie that came out in 1989, two years after the series picks up again. So it's possible, though hardly confirmed, that we may see our characters throughout a wider time span than in previous seasons. One of the bigger theories heading into Season 5 involves the resurrection of metalhead Eddie, played by Joseph Quinn. Eddie was tragically swarmed by demobats in Season 4, leading to his demise — but some think his manner of death is a clue that he could return in a new form. It all has to do with the Dungeons & Dragons story of Kas the Bloody-Handed, a warrior who was killed by Vecna and later resurrected as a bloodsucker. So far, though, Quinn has not confirmed a return to the Netflix series … but if this is the case, it's not like he would ruin the surprise. Another theory points to how Stranger Things might end — and it's pretty depressing for Eleven. One theory popular with fans is that Eleven will take Vecna's place as the ruler of the Upside Down, but instead of it being a dark, gloomy hellscape, she'll use her psychic abilities to create a paradise. That means, of course, she'll leave dad Hopper and boyfriend Mike in the real world … unless they can vacation there on school breaks?! You can learn more about Vecna's backstory in the special-effects-heavy stage show Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which began its run in London's West End before setting up shop on Broadway as well. While there's no Eleven, Mike or any of the other Hawkins teens, the play does take audiences back to the small Indiana town circa 1959, when Hopper and Joyce were in high school.

A single-player Dungeons & Dragons game is in development
Stig Asmussen, the game industry veteran who directed God of War III and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Fallen Order , is developing a single-player action-adventure game set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons in partnership with publisher Wizards of the Coast . This will be the first project for Asmussen's studio Giant Skull since its founding in late 2023. In a press release sent to Engadget, the studio shared it is "dedicated to building gameplay-driven, story-immersed action-adventure games." The new project will be built on the Unreal 5 engine and is currently in development for PC, with console details coming at a later date. No specific release dates, renderings or game content has been shared as of yet, making it unlikely this game will be out before 2026. John Hight, president of Wizards of the Coast (the owners of the iconic tabletop RPG), said "Stig and the team at Giant Skull are exactly the type of exceptionally talented creators we want to work with and I'm so happy to be reuniting with him on this new project.' Stig Asmussen shared that the studio's goal is to "craft a rich new Dungeons & Dragons universe filled with immersive storytelling, heroic combat and exhilarating traversal that players will fully embrace." This new project comes as Wizards of the Coast moves on from its deal with developer Larian Studios, the team behind the widely-acclaimed Baldur's Gate 3 . The Hasbro -owned publisher has a slew of games in the pipeline in partnership with various game studios in the United States and Canada. These include the sci-fi RPG Exodus , which is being developed by Archetype Entertainment, and Atomic Arcade's Snake Eyes , which is based on the G.I. Joe.

Critical Role's Matt Mercer says the new game 'Daggerheart' is a 'major part' of the business's future
Critical Role launched "Daggerheart" — its own tabletop roleplaying game system — on May 20. The team's eight cofounders are going all-in for a splashy promo for the game, "Age of Umbra." There's a lot riding on "Daggerheart's" success — and CCO Matt Mercer says it'll be a "major part" of the team's future. Critical Role, the nerdworld business that has sold out stadium shows in and outside the US, just launched its new game, "Daggerheart," after more than a year of beta testing. The team's cofounders rolled out the game on-stream on May 20, kicking off a new era for the business's game-making arm, Darrington Press. "Daggerheart" plays like a sophisticated, modern answer to the 50-year-old "Dungeons & Dragons" — the Hasbro-owned game that first made CR nerdworld-famous. Now, the eight CR cofounders run a multi-division business that spans live shows and streaming, podcasting, Amazon-backed animations, gaming, and publishing. The "Daggerheart" starter kit comes with a 366-page rulebook, around the same length as the main "D&D" rulebook. The core set comes with 279 player cards. Unlike "D&D," CR's "Daggerheart" involves the use of a card system that outlines each character's backstory and history. Matthew Mercer, CR's chief creative officer, told Business Insider that the process of creating Daggerheart has been a "wild and rewarding journey." "The scale of collaboration between both studying what elements of TTRPG gaming we've all been drawn to, and then implementing those lessons into a new game system has been a whole host of new challenges and unexpected revelations along the entire process," Mercer said. "There's still so much more to come, and Daggerheart will most definitely be a major part of CR's future and content alongside everything else we've been working on," he added. The eight cofounders are using other arms of the company to promote "Daggerheart." They're releasing an eight-part miniseries where they'll all be at the table, playing the game. It's titled "Age of Umbra," a dark fantasy-themed adventure that premieres on May 29. Mercer told BI "Age of Umbra" is a marked departure from Exandria, the high fantasy setting that CR has been streaming in for its main campaign for 10 years. Mercer said guiding the seven other cofounders, who've been playing "D&D" on-stream for a decade, was easier than he expected. "We intentionally designed the game to be quite intuitive, and while there's always a learning curve to any new system — especially if you're having to unlearn habits from other game systems — everyone ultimately slipped into the game rapidly and comfortably," he said. Spenser Starke, the lead game designer for "Daggerheart," told BI that the game has been built for narrative-focused play, but it also has the latitude for "cinematic combat." "The most challenging part of designing the game for me was trying to ensure all the mechanics felt balanced and locked together at every level to create a cohesive game," Starke said. The player cards, Starke said, were a high-priority item for the development team, particularly the ancestry, community, and subclass cards — elements that go into character creation. CR's Darrington Press created "Daggerheart" in-house, meaning Starke and his crew of designers built the book to the final stages of production, overseeing everything from art to the last edits. One of the later additions to the rulebook that Starke and his team made was campaign frames, a quick-start method for new players to get their home games going. "The design team spent so much time, effort, and energy putting that chapter together, and I'm really proud of what we created," Starke said. "We're truly so excited for people to take the format for campaign frames and start building their own." Starke and Mercer also teased that there'll be more updates coming down the pipe soon.
