Hamilton police sergeant charged with assault after 'domestic incident' in 2022, 2023: police
Police said in a news release on Friday the 46-year-old sergeant was charged with assault level one and mischief under $5,000.
The sergeant was charged in related to the incidents which took place in Hamilton, police told CBC Hamilton in an email.
Police also said the charges were being laid now because a "victim recently came forward."
Police did not disclose the officer's name. The member will appear in court on Sept. 11, the service said.

Inquest into Sudbury man's 2018 death to be held next month
An inquest into the death of David Gourley in Sudbury in 2018 will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 8. (File) An inquest into the death of David Gourley in Sudbury in 2018 will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 8. That announcement came this week in a news release from the office of Dr. Harry Voogjarv, regional supervising coroner of the North Region 'Dr. James Kovacs will be the presiding officer and Peter Napier will be the inquest counsel,' the release said. Gourley, 57, died on July 17, 2018, at the Health Sciences North Hospital in Sudbury, following an interaction with officers from the Ontario Provincial Police on July 12 of the same year. 'The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Gourley's death,' the release said. 'The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths. The inquest is expected to last four days and hear from approximately four witnesses.' The inquest will be conducted by video conference.
