Dolphins bring in a veteran corner, but Miami's offer turned down. Search continues
The Dolphins, in need of two veteran starting cornerbacks, hosted former Bills starter Rasul Douglas on a recent visit but the sides could not agree to a contract.
According to a source, the Dolphins made an offer that was rejected. Though the door wasn't ruled out on further contact and negotiations, Douglas has moved on to a Tuesday visit with the Seattle Seahawks, which are considered a good scheme fit.
Douglas met with Dolphins officials and coaches during his visit last week, but the two sides weren't very close on their financial visions for a deal.
Miami needs two starters to replace Kendall Fuller (who was released and remains unsigned) and Jalen Ramsey, whom the team said it intends to trade in what Miami calls a mutual decision.
Aside from nickel cornerback Kader Kohou, the Dolphins don't have a proven starting cornerback on their team. Their other corners under contract: former second-round pick Cam Smith, Storm Duck, Kendall Sheffield (who signed Monday after a weekend tryout but hasn't started a game since 2020), rookie fifth-rounder Jason Marshall Jr., undrafted rookies BJ Adams and Ethan Robinson, Jason Maitre, Artie Burns, Isaiah Johnson and Ethan Bonner.
One of the best remaining unsigned cornerbacks, former Fort Lauderdale Thomas Aquinas star Asante Samuel Jr., underwent neck surgery in April, ESPN reported this week. Samuel, who visited the Saints on Monday, has a check-up scheduled in early July, after which he will meet with several teams. ESPN said he will be available to play this season.
The other veteran corners still available include:
▪ James Bradberry: A second-team All Pro in 2022, Bradberry missed last season's Eagles Super Bowl run because of a torn Achilles sustained in a late August practice.
He had 19 interceptions and 112 passes defended in eight seasons. He recently visited the Bills, and there was initial contact between the Dolphins and Bradberry's camp a few weeks ago, but it's unclear if Miami will pursue him.
▪ Mike Hilton: The Bengals' skilled 5-9 nickel corner made 10 starts for the Bengals and had a 92 passer rating against. He was linked to Miami early in free agency. If the Dolphins sign Hilton as their top nickel corner, Kohou likely would play on the boundary instead of nickel corner.
▪ Stephon Gilmore: He made 15 starts for Minnesota, at age 34, and had a 94.1 passer rating against. He's past his prime but still a decent player.
▪ CJ Henderson: The former ninth overall pick played in 12 games and started seven for Carolina and had a 106.8 passer rating against. It would be difficult to project him as a starter.
▪ Jack Jones: His career started promisingly as a fourth-round pick of New England in 2022, but he struggled with the Raiders, allowing 10 touchdown receptions that overshadowed his three interceptions last season.
He also permitted a 115.8 passer rating in his coverage area and allowed 11 completions of 20 plus yards. The Raiders released him April 6 after failing to find a trade partner. Jones had five picks in 24 games with the Raiders, who signed him after New England cut him during the 2023 season more than a week after he missed curfew before a game. He had two interceptions for New England in both 2022 and 2023.
Among others available: Emmanuel Mosley, Fuller, ex-Dolphin Xavien Howard (who didn't play last season), Daryl Worley, Cam Sutton and Fabian Moreau.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus said on his weekly Fox-7 segment that Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill's second wrist procedure last week was planned and involved 'taking the pins out' and 'the recovery is going great' and 'we expect him to be ready for the start of training camp.'

The Miami Marlins are joining efforts to restore the defaced mural of baseball legends Jackie Robinson and Minnie Miñoso in Miami's Overtown neighborhood, which was marked with racist graffiti last week. City of Miami Chairwoman Christine King announced Wednesday that she along with the Marlins, Urgent, Inc., Omni Community Redevelopment Agency, Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency and other community activists will lead the restoration at Dorsey Park, where community leaders said a 7-year-old boy first discovered the vandalism last Sunday and asked his mother what the words and the Nazi symbols meant. Police were investigating the incident but have not made any arrests. City workers have since partially covered the murals of Robinson and Miñoso, an Afro-Cuban player, with wooden boards. The murals are along a fence at Dorsey Park, where Negro League teams once played baseball. The Marlins' home ballpark loanDepot park is just a few miles from the park. "In light of the deeply troubling acts of vandalism at Dorsey Park, the Miami Marlins today proudly stand in solidarity with the City of Miami Chairwoman Christine King, and our local leaders in unequivocally condemning this hateful and racist act," said Marlins owner Bruce Sherman. "Dorsey Park is not only a landmark of historical and cultural significance in South Florida — it is a powerful symbol of resilience, pride, and the enduring contributions of trailblazers to the game of baseball." Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball when he signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 to become the first Black player. Miñoso became the league's first Afro-Latino player and the first Black player for the Chicago White Sox. The murals have been displayed in the park since 2011 and are a collaboration between artists Kyle Holbrook and Kadir Nelson and various community groups.

Joey Bosa recovering from calf injury, expects to be ready for training camp
Buffalo Bills defensive end Joey Bosa is working his way back from a calf injury he suffered during a team workout in May. Bosa said he's being cautious in sitting out mandatory minicamp practice, but he believes he'll be full go by training camp in July, Ryan O'Halloran of The Buffalo News reported Wednesday. Bosa turned a new page when he joined the Bills this spring, except he's still fighting the narrative that he can't stay healthy. The 29-year-old, who will turn 30 in July, hasn't played a full season since 2019. In the last three seasons alone, Bosa has missed 23 regular-season games. And, although he missed only three regular-season games in 2024, he recorded a mere 22 total tackles and just five sacks. His 39 pressures ranked tied for 46th among all EDGE players last season, according to Pro Football Focus. Advertisement The Chargers, who drafted Bosa No. 3 overall out of Ohio State in 2016, released the five-time Pro Bowler back in March. He then signed a one-year, $12.61 million contract with the Bills, with $12 million of that deal guaranteed. Buffalo is hoping Bosa can stay healthy and rediscover at least some of the success he enjoyed early in his career with the Chargers. Bosa stacked four double-digit sack seasons out west, including one as recent as 2021. Now he'll have a chance to play for an AFC contender that's been pounding on the door of the Super Bowl the last few years. Bosa was part of just one playoff win in his nine seasons with the Chargers. The Bills have made it to the AFC championship twice in the past five seasons. Club World Cup: Jack Grealish left out of Man City squad
MIAMI (AP) — Jack Grealish has been left out of Manchester City's squad for the Club World Cup. City manager Pep Guardiola named a 27-man squad for the tournament, which kicks off in Miami on Saturday, with Grealish a notable omission. The England forward was a British record signing when he moved to City from Aston Villa for 100 million pounds ($139 million then) in 2021 and went on to help the club win three Premier League titles, the Champions League and a host of other trophies. But he has become an increasingly peripheral figure and made only seven league starts last season. The 29-year-old Grealish's absence from the Club World Cup will add to the growing expectation that he will leave during the offseason, with Guardiola embarking on a squad rebuild following the team's first trophyless season in eight years. City's squad includes four new players signed in time to take part in the month-long tournament in the United States: Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli. In January, City also spent big to sign Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis as Guardiola began his overhaul of a squad that saw its dominance of English soccer broken by Liverpool last season. If Grealish goes, he is likely to be one of a number of players to move on. Kevin De Bruyne is leaving at the end of his contract this month and Kyle Walker is also likely to go after a loan move to AC Milan in January; as expected, neither player was in the squad.
