Jason Manford is sweetly supported by his parents as they sit by his hospital bedside after surgery - as he recovers after show cancellations
The comedian, 44, has spent the weekend recovering in hospital after he was forced to cancel four shows due to undergoing appendix surgery.
He gave fans an update on Saturday as he took to Instagram to share a sweet photograph of his parents Sharon and Ian paying him a visit in hospital.
'Mum & dad come to look after me for the night! Rest of the family away and they didn't want by myself,' he wrote in a caption.
'Always their baby no matter how old ya get!'
He was greeted with kind comments from his celebrity friends, who wished him a speedy recovery.
Emmerdale's Adam Thomas shared: 'This is cute get better soon sir x.'
While Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley added: 'Love that. God bless them x.'
Jason was rushed to hospital over the weekend after developing appendicitis - which is when the organ swells, causing severe pain and in most cases, surgeons remove the appendix.
He was due to take to stage for his A Manford All Seasons tour in Hertfordshire on Thursday before it was announced he was 'too unwell', with the star going on to cancel a further three shows while he recovers.
Following his surgery, Jason took to Instagram in the early hours of Saturday morning to share a smiley snap of himself as enjoyed a 'cheeky midnight snack' of pepperoni and pineapple pizza.
The TV personality, who was seen with a cannula in his arm, looked in good spirits as he posed in front of the pizza before sharing other images of the Italian dish.
John Bishop stepped in to replace Jason at the Kendal Calling festival on Sunday, with the Liverpudlian comedian, 58, uploading a humorous announcement video that was shared to Jason's page.
Speaking to the camera, John said: 'The one that can't be cancelled is Kendal Calling on Sunday afternoon. So he's asked me if I'm free and I am, so I'm going to step up and fill Jason's boots.'
Jason underwent surgery following a 'scary' 24 hours, revealing he first came down with symptoms while driving at 70mph down the motorway.
He shared on Instagram: 'Appendix surgery all went well, now in recovery with my Vimto, they serve it in all Manchester hospitals.
'Bit of a scary & extremely painful 24 hours but thankful to our NHS & my incredible nurse mum who's a godsend in a health crisis!
'My advice would be to not get Appendicitis whilst driving at 70mph on the motorway!'
Jason shared his disappointment about not being able to make his upcoming shows and thanked fans for their support.
'Seriously though, I'm gutted that I've had to move the dates this weekend, and I'm sorry for the late notice to so many people in St Albans, Oxford, Lincoln, Skegness & at Kendall Calling,' he added.
'I thought I could get by on antibiotics and surgery at a later date so I could still do the shows, but was advised not to.
'Also means I can't fly out to Portugal on Monday to join my family on holiday! Ah well, such is life. Thanks for all the ''Get Well Soon'' messages.'
Sharing a health update on Instagram on Friday, Jason penned: 'Appendix surgery all went well, now in recovery with my Vimto, they serve it in all Manchester hospitals'
Earlier on Thursday, it was confirmed that Jason would not be performing in Hertfordshire due to ill health.
An initial post read: 'We regret to inform you that tonight's performance of A Manford All Seasons @albanarena has been unexpectedly cancelled due to Jason Manford being unwell and will now be rescheduled to Mon 20th Oct 2025.
'Thank you for understanding, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.'
In another statement shared to X, a further three shows in Oxford, Lincoln and Skegness were also scrapped and rescheduled for later this year and early 2026.
'We regret to inform you that the following performances of A Manford All Seasons have been unexpectedly cancelled due to Jason Manford being unwell,' it added.
'Oxford, New Theatre. Lincoln, The Engine Shed. Skegness, Embassy Hall. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.'
WHAT IS APPENDICITIS?
Appendicitis is a swelling of the appendix, a two to four-inch-long organ connected to the large intestine.
Appendicitis can cause severe pain and it's important for it to be treated swiftly in case the appendix bursts, which can cause life-threatening illness.
In most cases surgeons will remove the appendix in an appendectomy – scientists aren't sure why people need an appendix but removing it does not harm people.
The causes of appendicitis aren't clear but it is thought to be caused by something blocking the entrance to the organ.
Symptoms include pain in the stomach which later travels to your lower right-hand-side and becomes severe.
Pressing on this area, coughing, or walking can all make the pain worse, and other symptoms can be nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhoea and a fever.

Beyoncé, Tyler Perry and the Royal Family fail to publicly send Meghan Markle happy 44th birthday wishes - as Oprah is among the stars who were absent from her celebrations
Meghan Markle appeared to be snubbed by the Royal Family and other high profile acquaintances when she celebrated her 44th birthday on August 8. The lack of well wishes from celebrities including Beyoncé and Tyler Perry marked a contrast to previous years. Meghan last received a public message from the official Royal Family social media account 2021, when she turned 40 - the year after she and Prince Harry, 40, stepped down from royal duties and moved to California. In response to queries about why the Duchess of Sussex's birthday has not been publicly recognised, royal aides have said they only mark the birthdays of working members of the Royal Family on their official social media accounts - but this differed from what members of The Firm have done previously. When Meghan turned 41 in 2022, she received messages from a number of royals, including the Prince and Princess of Wales. The then-Prince Charles and his wife Camilla also took to social media, wishing Meghan a happy birthday on X (then Twitter). However, when she celebrated turning 42-years-old in 2023, the royals were all silent. Speaking at the time, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Newsweek: 'When Meghan turned 40 Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall and the Cambridges [William and Kate] sent birthday wishes. 'When she turned 41, the queen did not, but the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall and William and Catherine did. This year they ignored her birthday which has been represented in the press as a snub.' He added that the release of Harry memoirs Spare in January that year, in addition to their 2021 interview with Oprah, had been 'extremely damaging' to relations between the Sussexes and The Firm. And the royals weren't the only high profile people who remained silent on social media. When Meghan tuned 40 in 2021, she received sweet public greetings from Beyoncé. A message shared on the singer's website said: 'Happy Birthday Meghan Markle'. It was accompanied by a childhood photo of Meghan, who sported a pink headline with a flower detail, and a button-up blue frock with puff sleeves. US-based columnist told the Express that the lack of birthday wishes from royals was not a snub, rather 'an understandable dodge of [Meghan's] drama'. 'From the Oprah interview's racism allegations to the mock curtsy that spat on the late Queen's legacy. 'Why on earth would they send birthday wishes to a poisonous troublemaker who haunted the last days of their late matriarch and her beloved husband?' A number of reports have also noted how the Duchess had a very 'low key' celebration for her birthday, having a small, private meal, with celebrity friends including Oprah, Serena Williams and Tyler Perry absent from the event. According to journalist Rob Shuter, a Hollywood insider said that while 'Oprah helped launch Meghan and Harry's entire media brand [...] that connection has gone quiet'. Another A-lister who failed to wish Meghan a happy 44th birthday was Tyler Perry. When Meghan turned 41-years-old in 2022, the entertainment mogul shared a gushing post on Instagram. It said: 'I've had a front row seat in your life for the past few years. I've watched you endure things that would have broken a lot of people. I'm so incredibly proud to see how happy you, your husband, and your kids are now. It fills me with joy to say Happy Birthday Princess Meghan.' The Sussexes quit their roles as senior working members of the Royal Family in January 2020, before moving to the US in June of that year, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Following their departure, Harry and Meghan gave an explosive interview to Oprah about their experiences of being royals in 2021. The couple's bombshell interview sent shock waves around the world as the couple laid bare the extent of their rift with the Queen and other senior royals. They then signed a deal with Netflix and released their docuseries named Harry & Meghan in December 2022, before the Prince released his controversial tell-all autobiography Spare, published in January last year. In the book he claimed he begged his father not to marry Camilla due to fears she would be a 'wicked stepmother'. Harry also alleged that his brother, Prince William 'knocked me to the floor' in 2019 during an argument about his marriage to Meghan. However, while Meghan did not receive greetings from some of her acquaintances, her birthday was publicly marked by a number of her famous friends. Close pals including Meghan's costar in the legal drama Abigail Spencer, Kelly McKee Zajfen, Tracy Robbins, Jamie Kern Lima all took to Instagram to share gushing compliments, calling the Duchess 'pure magic' and describing her as 'like sunshine in a bottle'. And in a rare move from the Duchess, she commented on their posts in a mutual display of affection. Meghan's long-time pal Abigail was the first to share a tribute to the Duchess, calling her 'Champagne in human form' and a 'sister in this life and beyond'. As Abigail was also celebrating her birthday yesterday, Meghan fired back: 'Thank you, sweet Abs! Right back at you, and happy birthday to YOU! 44/4' - her comment referring to them both turning 44 on the fourth day of the month. Kelly McKee Zajfen, a former model and co-founder of Alliance of Moms, has been friends with Meghan for many years after first meeting with the Duchess's ex-husband, Trevor Engelson. Kelly wrote: 'Happy Birthday to you sweet M!! 'You're pure magic!! A force of fun, light, and so much love. Thank you for being the kind of friend who makes everything better (and way more fun). Here's to the best trip around the ☀️ yet! '(This captures us perfectly! ✨✨) Love you so very much!' Meghan replied: 'Thank you!', adding heart, cake and champagne emojis. The Duchess also featured in several new photos shared by her close pal Tracy Robbins, who lives in Montecito and is married to Paramount boss Brian Robbins - with the couple occasionally going on double dates with Meghan and Prince Harry. Tracy showed a very light-hearted and laidback side to Meghan, as they were seen giggling while enjoying cocktails together. In one candid snap, Meghan couldn't contain her laughter as some of the foam from her cocktail landed on her nose. 'Happy birthday my dear @meghan Oh how I can laugh and dance with you like no other. You are sunshine in a bottle!' Tracy gushed. 'Thank you for always making time to be such a loving and connected friend no matter what's going on in your life. You dance through this life with so much grace, light and love!' Referring to her husband Prince Harry, and children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, she added: 'I hope your wee posse of 3 are smothering you with hugs and kisses today my dear! Happiest of birthdays M!' Keeping it simple, Meghan commented a selection of pink and red heart emojis. Tracy also shared a photo of Meghan and her husband Brian backstage at Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour - which they attended together in May at the SoFi stadium in California. She added: 'Happy birthday M! Brian and I adore you!' Also among the well wishers was Jamie Kern Lima, who hosted Meghan on her podcast - The Jamie Kern Lima Show - earlier this year. A post she shared on her story said: 'Happy Birthday @meghan thank you for being love, light and such a great friend to everyone who has the gift of truly knowing you!!!' Seconds later, she shared another image, holding a rainbow fruit platter they had made behind the scenes of the podcast: 'Happy Birthday @meghan Wonder had so much fun making this for you! Can't wait to see what we learn on Season 2 of your show! Thank you for being love, light and such a generous friend to everyone you meet!' And Meghan's make-up artist pal Daniel Martin, who helped get the Duchess ready for her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, shared a sweet snap of Meghan and her beagle Mia in the garden of her Montecito mansion, simply writing 'HBD sis!' Rounding off the tributes was actress Kerry Washington, who has been friends with Meghan since 2013, and said: 'To this beautiful (inside and out) @meghan Love you so much!' In addition, Meghan's As Ever brand has posted a gushing birthday tribute as she turned 44. Her lifestyle company took to Instagram with a black and white snapshot of the mother-of-two wearing a sundress and hat as she beamed into the distance. The caption enthused about Meghan and her role leading the company. 'Celebrating the woman behind it all,' it read. 'She pours her heart, vision and magic touch into every detail, and today, we raise a glass to her! Happy birthday to our founder.' It was then re-shared on As Ever's Instagram Story alongside two champagne flutes clinking together in celebration.

BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt's relationship with newly-returned boss Richard Frediani 'turns sour' amid 'bullying' review
BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt's relationship with newly-returned boss has reportedly 'turned sour' amid the 'bullying' claims. Richard Frediani took an extended period of leave after an internal review of bullying and misconduct allegations was opened into the show. It was previously claimed that the show's staff are feeling increasingly 'uneasy' around Richard, with the former Head of ITV News accused of 'shaking' a female editor while working on the show. Richard has now returned to work, but relations between him and star talent Naga, 50, and Charlie, 63, have 'turned so sour' he no longer directly manage them. A source told The Sun: 'Fredi now doesn't brief Naga and Charlie or any of that sort of thing and someone else is on the talkback to them from the gallery. 'The crew are entirely bemused and exhausted by it - in what world is it normal for a boss to be banned from talking to his staff?' Talkback is the function which connects the production gallery to the set and allows an editor to speak to hosts via an earpiece. Instead, one of Richard's editorial team handles the link, with the insider adding: 'Bosses are desperate to get Breakfast back on an even keel and know the tension between Fredi, Charlie and Naga is at the heart of the rising crisis. When the Daily Mail reached out to the BBC for comment, a spokesperson said: 'While we do not comment on individual cases, we take all complaints about conduct at work extremely seriously and will not tolerate behaviour that is not in line with our values. We have robust processes in place and would encourage any staff with concerns to raise them directly with us so they can be addressed.' Naga, who is under review for 'bullying' claims, allegedly scolded a petrified intern for the way they spread Marmite on her toast, insiders have claimed. The allegation comes after the Daily Mail revealed how she had allegedly moaned about her porridge being 'too hot' and not liking to blueberry topping. An insider, who previously worked with Naga, 50, on BBC Breakfast , revealed the TV host is 'an absolute nightmare', adding that she would 'kick off about the smallest of issues'. Now, a source has told The Sun how she kicked off at an intern over how they spread Marmite on her toast. It comes as sources revealed Naga could face a probe from BBC bosses, and has been placed 'under review' amid claims bullied a junior colleague on the flagship morning show. BBC Breakfast host Naga, who is under review for 'bullying' claims, allegedly scolded a petrified intern for the way they spread Marmite on her toast, according to The Sun An insider told The Daily Mail: 'She's an absolute nightmare. She has a reputation for going at young members of staff and making them out to be fools. 'She would kick off about the smallest of issues, including one time she went ballistic over her breakfast not being prepared exactly how she likes it by an intern.' On one occasion, Naga refused to eat porridge delivered by an intern in an ad break, which is typically done, saying it was 'too hot for her to eat in the time she had', the source said. 'She said it's always made exactly the same way for her each day and would prefer if the same person made it who knows exactly how she likes it,' they added. The Daily Mail has reached out to the BBC regarding the claim she scolded an intern over how they spread Marmite on her toast, however they have already refused to give a comment to The Sun. The Mail has contacted Naga's representatives, who declined to comment. She has not addressed any of the allegations publicly. Following the amount of people who have come forward to share their experiences with Naga, the BBC has officially moved to place the complaints under review. 'The review is to ascertain whether a full-on investigation is required and that could come in weeks', the source told The Sun. The journalist was reportedly previously spoken to by bosses over claims she bullied a female junior staff member as well as a complaint she used a slang term for a sexual act off-air at BBC Radio 5 Live. Naga used a slang term for a sex act during an off-air break in 2022, which stunned the studio and led to Naga being spoken to by bosses. It was then reported that last year, Naga hauled into a meeting by bosses over the alleged bullying of a junior female colleague on BBC Breakfast. Her BBC Breakfast star co-host Charlie's alleged behaviour is also 'under review' after a string of complaints, it has been claimed. The presenters are not under a formal investigation by the Beeb but a process has apparently begun to judge whether they should be. While Naga is alleged to face the most criticism from BBC Breakfast crew, some staff have reportedly made claims of 'rudeness', 'undermining' them and even 'bullying' with Charlie also now being looked at. Amid the fallout, Munchetty's agents have reportedly 'held talks with rival station LBC' to explore opportunities for the journalist. A source told The Sun: 'The fallout of Richard Frediani's investigation created a stark 'him or her' narrative on Breakfast with Naga flung to the front line. 'The fact is she loves the BBC and her job but there's only so much external noise anyone is prepared to take. 'LBC would suit her well as the focus remains on news-led broadcasting, they take a hard line and there's far less of the fluffy nonsense involved in working at the BBC. 'Her team last week renewed historic talks with the global radio station to see if there could be any work for her there.' Last month, figures released by the broadcaster revealed the presenter was awarded a £10,000 increase in her annual salary. Her pay packet now sits at an eye-watering £355,000 - almost double that of her co-host Charlie Stayt. Stayt, 63, has remained in the £190,000 bracket as tensions between the pair are said to be 'rife'. Munchetty hosts BBC Breakfast on Thursdays to Saturdays with Charlie, while Jon Kay and Sally Nugent anchor the program from the start of the week.
